RUSH: There is an ancient liberal political pundit out there some of you may not have heard of. His name is Al Hunt. He\u2019s about a 100 years old, and he has weighed in on the Senate race in Massachusetts. That\u2019s where Democrat Congressman Joe Kennedy XVIII
\nis going after the Senate seat of first-term Democrat Senator Ed Markey, who\u2019s running for reelection.<\/p>\n

Now, if you remember Al Hunt at all, you won\u2019t be surprised to hear that he is pro-Kennedy. He claims that \u201chistory\u201d is on young Joe Kennedy\u2019s side. Hunt explains back in 1962, Ted Kennedy defeated then-Attorney General Edward McCormack, to take his place in the Senate, and that\u2019s the template for this race, 1962.<\/p>\n

\"\"Hunt says that even though Ed Markey may have more political endorsements, Joe Kennedy has the one thing that counts, and that\u2019s political genes. He\u2019s a Kennedy, like John, Robert, and Teddy. That means women are endangered. And that, according to Al Hunt, makes all the difference.<\/p>\n

Well, maybe Al Hunt is right. Maybe. But this isn\u2019t 1962. There are generations of voters who don\u2019t remember the John F. Kennedy \u201cCamelot\u201d years, or Ted Kennedy\u2019s escape from the pond at Chappaquiddick, leaving Mary Jo Kopechne to drown. Even among those who do remember, the Kennedy mystique is faded. Kennedy family history has little pull with Millennials, for example.<\/p>\n

It doesn\u2019t matter though. It\u2019s Massachusetts. Whether young Joe Kennedy XVIII beats Ed Markey or not, Massachusetts is still gonna end up with a dyed-in-the-wool liberal. Only the name will change.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
