RUSH: What a great zinger that Donald Trump threw at Obama. Oh, it was fabulous. And I\u2019ll tell you what, this Miss California, Carrie Prejean, she stood up at a press conference today and she delivered some excellent in-your-face defense of her position on things, Miss California, the controversy over the pictures and the gay marriage question. So Trump and the Miss Universe people had a press conference today at Trump\u2019s building in New York with Carrie Prejean, who is Miss California. They were waiting on Trump\u2019s decision as to whether or not she\u2019s going to be thrown out because apparently some nude photos surfaced. Turns out the photos were Photoshopped. Trump and the boys looked at them, said, (paraphrasing) ‘Nothing wrong with the pictures. And, by the way, this question that she answered on gay marriage, she gave the same answer the president of the United States gave. She gave the same answer that Barack Obama gave.\u2019 A great little zinger there to President Obama. Then Carrie Prejean stood up, she did her own press conference. The press at this thing was far more curious and demanding to know Carrie Prejean\u2019s positions on things that they have ever been about Barack Obama. But she held up under it extremely well, and she urged everybody to stand up for what you believe, don\u2019t back down, whatever you do, she\u2019s going to use that as part of her role model aspect when she goes on tour here as Miss California. <\/p>\n

So she hangs on, and she was also asked a question about Perez Hilton, ‘Do you forgive Perez?\u2019 He\u2019s the one that asked the stupid question about gay marriage, ‘Do you forgive Perez Hilton?\u2019 I thought her answer was superb. (paraphrasing) ‘I do forgive Perez Hilton. I\u2019ve done some research on Perez. He\u2019s obviously got some tough issues in his heart.\u2019 Very, very clever. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, here we have some sound bites from the press conference I was alluding to, by Donald Trump and Carrie Prejean, Miss California. Here\u2019s Trump announcing that she\u2019s gonna hang on, that they\u2019ve looked and everything\u2019s fine. She\u2019s going to hang on as Miss California.<\/p>\n

TRUMP: [W]ith Carrie — who\u2019s here, who\u2019s lovely, and who gave a very, very honest answer when asked a very tough question at the recent pageant. It\u2019s the same answer that the president of the United States gave. It\u2019s the same answer that many people gave. She gave an honorable answer, she gave an answer from her heart, and I think for that she has to be commended.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Look, this confirms what I knew yesterday. All of this controversy over getting her thrown out over these pictures was not about these pictures at all. It was about the entertainment media and allies in radical leftism trying to get rid of her because of her answer on gay marriage and her definition of marriage as that between a man and a woman. It\u2019s just intolerable. These people supposedly wherever… We\u2019re supposed to tolerate all the perversion of all the radicals, all the politicians on the left. We\u2019re supposed to tolerate and be understanding of all of the godlessness. We\u2019re supposed to tolerate it. We\u2019re supposed to be understanding of all of the destructive things these people do — and then when we stand up and just express our beliefs? Wow! It gets time to get the Gestapo. It\u2019s time to get the secret police, time to go get the brownshirts and shut us up. And she stood up to it today, as did Donald Trump. Here\u2019s another portion of what Trump said.<\/p>\n

TRUMP: We have Keith and Shanna from the pageants, the directors of the Miss California pageant. I met them today for the first time. They were having some miscommunication with Carrie. The communication problem, I believe, is totally solved — and this is, I think, really very important to understand. They are really getting along very well. They\u2019ve been meeting for hours in my office and I really think that they are — and have developed a relationship that they didn\u2019t have before. Carrie will remain Miss California, very importantly.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Carrie Prejean holds on as Miss California despite the efforts to ruin her and destroy her. When it was her turn, this is a portion of what she said.<\/p>\n

PREJEAN: Most importantly, I would like to thank God for trusting me with this large task and giving me the strength to stand by my beliefs. Three weeks ago I was asked a politically charged question with a hidden personal agenda. I answered my question honestly and sincerely from my heart. I was very careful to articulate in saying that I did not want to offend anybody — and that this is how I was raised and this is what I believe a marriage should be: between one man and one woman. I was given a question asking for my opinion, and I stated my honest belief. Not only do I hold this belief, but as Mr. Trump said: the president of the United States, the secretary of state, and many Americans agree with me in this belief.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It is somewhat interesting to me that it takes Donald Trump and Miss California — nothing against them, don\u2019t misunderstand — to make a solid point about and explain this stuff to America at large. During the entire controversy over Carrie Prejean\u2019s answer about gay marriage, nobody stood up and said, ‘It\u2019s no different than what Barack Obama believes. It\u2019s no different than what Hillary Clinton said — the Democrat secretary of state, and Obama — during the Democrat presidential campaigns. It\u2019s hardly different from what most Americans actually believe,\u2019 and yet it was reason to get rid of her. So here today, long after that controversy had bubbled up, it takes a press conference from the Miss USA pageant to sort of put this in perspective. But she really was good in her preference statement when she stood up for her beliefs and said she\u2019s not going to be talked out of them, and it has been a great learning experience for her, and how she encouraged everybody not to abandon their beliefs.
