RUSH: Kasich said, \u201cThey\u2019re not even talking about this in Ohio. Nobody\u2019s talking about this in Ohio.\u201d That\u2019s not good for the Democrats. Impeachment\u2019s rare. Impeachment\u2019s a very powerful thing. If you do it and people think you\u2019re serious, it\u2019s a stopper, it stops everybody in their tracks. \u201cOh, my God. The president\u2019s gotta go?\u201d<\/p>\n
So Kasich says nobody in Ohio\u2019s even talking about it. I\u2019ve had a couple calls today from people who say the opposite, that people they know are talking about it and they\u2019re livid about it, and even some Democrats that didn\u2019t like Trump think this is bogus and don\u2019t like it.<\/p>\n
Another good friend of mine, the guy I told you had been making speeches. He made another speech late last week. He said the people, a lot of them never voted for Trump. They are all talking about this like they can\u2019t believe the Democrats are doing it. It\u2019s not creating a bunch of support, or so I hear.<\/p>\n

So I ran my own focus group. I played golf Saturday. Now, these are people I know. I\u2019m not venturing out amongst people in the public, so I\u2019m not able to run my focus group that way. But not only this Saturday, but last Saturday — let me just put it this way. My friends have yet to bring this up to me. So, Saturday at lunch after golf I finally had to say something to \u2019em.<\/p>\n
I said, \u201cLet me ask you guys.\u201d There\u2019s about 10 or 12 here at the table. Well, it\u2019s two tables, but there\u2019s 10 or 12 guys there. \u201cYou know, I can\u2019t believe it. You can\u2019t turn on the TV today without seeing impeachment, impeachment, impeachment. And not one of you guys is talking about it.\u201d<\/p>\n
One guy said, “Well, in deference to you, we figure you don\u2019t want to talk about it \u2019cause it\u2019s all you do.” The other guy said, “Rush, it\u2019s just the latest Democrat trick. We don\u2019t care. Boring.” So I\u2019m processing this. I\u2019m hearing from my friends that they\u2019re talking to people, they\u2019re hearing people livid about it, outraged by it, angry by it.<\/p>\n
Then John Kasich says he doesn\u2019t know anybody in Ohio talking about it. And in my limited — this is not a lot of people, but not one person, so I had to bring it up. And consensus opinion was it\u2019s just the latest Democrat attempt. It\u2019s not that they\u2019re not taking it seriously. It just doesn\u2019t have \u2019em worked up. I mean, not about Trump. They\u2019re not angry at Trump. They\u2019re not worried that Trump\u2019s gonna be sent packing. It\u2019s not affecting them.<\/p>\n
They just think it\u2019s another Democrat scheme and that that\u2019s all it is. They don\u2019t think Trump\u2019s done anything worth — none of \u2019em have lost support for him, it\u2019s nothing like that at all. So no matter where I go, I can\u2019t find any evidence that this is working. Let me share with you a tweet. I\u2019m sure it is with some. I don\u2019t run into a bunch of radical leftists all the time. I\u2019m just telling you that my assessment that this isn\u2019t going the way they thought it was I am more sure of than ever.<\/p>\n
And let me tell you something about impeachment. You know, Andy McCarthy wrote a book about this too. And there\u2019s one thing about impeachment, it\u2019s a purely political thing. It\u2019s not about legality. If you do not have public support for it, it is doomed to fail, because it requires public opinion in support of it if it\u2019s to have legs and oxygen. The Democrats haven\u2019t yet created that.<\/p>\n
Now, they\u2019re out there saying they\u2019ve got new polls showing a majority are in favor of, but I don\u2019t believe it. I think it\u2019s their polls. I think everything they\u2019re doing is a lie. Everything they\u2019re doing is a manufactured illusion.<\/p>\n
Now, Friday afternoon, Jake Tapper, CNN, Never Trumper, part of the Democrats in the media tweeted this: “Nixon had a much better legal apparatus to defend him, and Bill Clinton did as well, during their impeachments.\u201d Much better legal apparatus than Trump has. Trump does not have good legal help. But Trump \u201chas something that Nixon did not have. He has Fox News. He has an army of trolls. He has websites.\u201d<\/p>\n
Now, before you react, “Okay, it\u2019s the usual attack on Fox News and Trump supporters.” The point is, it isn\u2019t working. Tapper\u2019s a little frustrated here. Trump\u2019s lawyers are lousy compared to Nixon\u2019s and Clinton\u2019s, and still Trump\u2019s there! Because Trump\u2019s got something they didn\u2019t have, Fox News and a bunch of trolls. What are the trolls? That\u2019s you, folks, Trump voters, you are trolls. Fox News is illegitimate. And of course he has websites, he has talk radio. Meaning, “Damn it. We\u2019re doing our damnedest here, we\u2019re doing everything we can to get rid of this guy, but we can\u2019t beat Fox News, we can\u2019t beat Trump\u2019s army of trolls.”<\/p>\n
Jake, let me tell you what else Trump has, something you\u2019re not considering. Trump has innocence. Trump didn\u2019t do it. Slick Willie did. Slick Willie lied under oath and suborned perjury and lost his law license. Nixon, well, some people still don\u2019t know what he actually did. But as far as the public is concerned, Nixon did it!<\/p>\n
The one thing that you\u2019re not factoring, Trump has innocence! Trump is not guilty of the things you\u2019re charging him with! Did you ever stop to consider that in this impeachment inquiry?
