RUSH: This New York Times story that is building<\/a>. I want to share with you, Howie Kurtz, who is the media critic, the media analyst at Fox News — now Howard Kurtz — he\u2019s a good guy, don\u2019t misunderstand, don\u2019t anybody misunderstand. But Howard Kurtz is in the camp that gets the vapors over Trump\u2019s tweets. You know people, I do. I run into them, \u201cI just love Trump, but I wish he would stop the tweets.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"\"\u201cWhy? Why do you wish he would stop the tweeting?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause it\u2019s so, it\u2019s so\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAdmit it, it makes you nervous. Do you think it\u2019s hurting?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, I just wish \u2013” And Howard Kurtz was in that group that Trump tweeting, \u201cOh, gee, it\u2019s so unpresidential, it\u2019s so beneath the dignity of the office.\u201d Well, let me read an excerpt paragraph from Howard Kurtz, who is just ripping the New York Times for what they did here, the story about Kavanaugh.<\/p>\n

Quote, “With two hours before airtime, two things changed my mind. One was the tweets by the president, which denounced the allegations as \u2018lies,\u2019 said Kavanaugh should start suing people and, in a strange aside, said the Justice Department should rescue him. (The Kavanaugh camp, by contrast, chose not to give the story any oxygen by commenting.)\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, the title of Howard\u2019s piece or the headline is: \u201cHow I Realized the NY Times Kavanaugh Story Was a Train Wreck.<\/a>\u201d Trump\u2019s tweets. If Trump hadn\u2019t tweeted what he tweeted, it might have taken a little longer for Kurtz to find out what the Times really did. And this is the primary reason those of us who support Trump don\u2019t mind him tweeting at all because there isn\u2019t anybody else on his side that\u2019s gonna get the truth of the story out because it\u2019s not presidential or because it\u2019s not proper, or what have you.<\/p>\n

I have another example of this today. \u201cDonald Trump Demands DNC Hold \u2018Open Borders\u2019 Convention in 2020 — President Donald Trump ridiculed the Democrat National Committee on Monday, mockingly asking them to reduce security for their 2020 political convention. \u2018They just gave out a tremendous contract, you know what it\u2019s for, they\u2019re building a big wall around the building,\u2019 Trump said. \u2018A massive wall. We should tell them \u201copen borders,\u201d let anybody come in.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Now, there isn\u2019t a Republican alive who would call out the Democrats like this on this kind of hypocrisy. So here are the Democrats, they don\u2019t want any wall on the southern border. They want anybody that wants to come in the country to come in the country — criminals, reprobate, rapists, purse snatchers, muggers, NFL wide receivers, whoever wants to come in the country, let \u2019em come.<\/p>\n

Then the Democrats are gonna have their convention and they\u2019re building a security wall around the building to make sure only accredited people can get in. So here comes Trump calling \u2019em out on it. (paraphrasing) \u201cYou know, they just gave out a tremendous contract. They\u2019re building a big wall, construction contract, they\u2019re building a big wall around the building, a massive wall. We should tell \u2019em tear down the wall. Open borders. Let anybody in.\u201d<\/p>\n

Isn\u2019t that what the party stands for? They don\u2019t want any wall in the southern border. Hell, half of them don\u2019t even want a border. And any illegal that gets in the country, they want them to have free health care paid for by the American middle class.<\/p>\n

Trump was talking about the Democrats\u2019 upcoming convention in Milwaukee. It was during a political rally he had in New Mexico last night. Trump noted that he continued to face Democrat opposition to building a wall on the southern border despite Democrat support for borders in the past. They\u2019ve all been in support of walls in the past from Obama on down. They\u2019ve all voted for them.<\/p>\n

And Trump says, \u201cNow a few years later, they don\u2019t want a wall, do you know why? Because anything I want, they want to do the opposite.\u201d Trump said he\u2019s gonna keep fighting for border security, gonna keep building a wall on the southern border to keep out drugs, crime, cartel violence, and NFL wide receivers.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cWe need four more years,\u201d as the audience roared with applause. And that audience last night, folks, it was filled with Hispanics. I\u2019ve got a tweet here of somebody describing it. Here it is. \u201cDemocrats are sweating bullets tonight. There were Latinos for Trump everywhere at the Trump rally in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, tonight.\u201d When Trump asked if there were any Hispanics in the audience, the arena erupted in cheers. Latinos were shouting, “USA, USA” and, “Build the wall.”<\/p>\n

So two examples. Trump tweeting about the New York Times helped Howard Kurtz understand what was really going on with the story. If Trump hadn\u2019t tweeted, Kurtz would have figured it out in time, but he came to the realization of what was really going on much sooner because of Trump\u2019s tweets.<\/p>\n

Now, Howard Kurtz has not said he\u2019s changed his mind on Trump\u2019s tweets. That\u2019s not what I\u2019m saying. I know he\u2019s from the group that thinks it\u2019s unpresidential, Trump shouldn\u2019t be doing it. And then this headline: \u201cHow I Realized the NY Times Kavanaugh Story Was a Train Wreck.\u201d Trump\u2019s tweet is part of the recipe for that.<\/p>\n

And here\u2019s another Trump tweet. “I call for the Resignation of everybody at The New York Times involved in the Kavanaugh SMEAR story, and while you\u2019re at it, the Russian Witch Hunt Hoax, which is just as phony!” Which was my point yesterday.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Folks, if you\u2019re upset over what the Times did to Kavanaugh, well, expand that on 2-1\/2 years every day against Donald Trump — on the front page, above and below the fold. The New York Times hasn\u2019t been about journalism in I don\u2019t know how long. Back to Trump\u2019s tweet. He said, “They have taken the Old Gray Lady and broken her down, destroyed her virtue, and ruined her reputation. She can never recover and will never return to greatness under current management.<\/p>\n

“The Times is dead. Long live the New York Times.” It reminds me of Snerdley. Snerdley came in here yesterday before the program and said, “Rush, I grew up in New York. I grew up reading the New York Times. It was gospel. It was this… You might have disagreed with it.” I know. I know. “But I can\u2019t believe they did this.” That just sent me off. I\u2019m glad he came in, because it gave me the first 90 minutes of the program yesterday. You can\u2019t believe it, even though you know full well what the New York Times is.<\/p>\n

You know how bad it is in New York? I remember shortly after I got to New York… Well, maybe four years in. It couldn\u2019t have been… No, it had to be before that because I was still taking Yellow Cabs to get around. Nope! I take it be back. I take it back. It was not a Yellow Cab, it was a car service, and the driver was, I think, from India or one of the Middle Eastern countries. He knew who I was, so he started talking about politics, and then he began talking about how he wanted to become a foreign policy expert.<\/p>\n

The driver had given me a stack, an envelope full of columns that he had written. I said, “What are you gonna do with these?” “I\u2019ve sent this to the New York Times.” “You\u2019ve done what?” “Oh, yes. The Times\u2019 foreign policy is something that I very much support — very, very much.” “What do you mean the New York Times\u2019 foreign policy?” He looked at me. “What are you talking about? You mean you don\u2019t know the New York Times\u2019 foreign policy?”<\/p>\n

“The New York Times is a newspaper, for crying out loud! What foreign policy?” I mean, people in New York… (impression) “The Times has its own foreign policy, the Times has its own domestic policy, the Times has its own this policy.” To native New Yorkers who buy into it, that\u2019s how deeply embedded it is in their lives. So it\u2019s a puzzlement to some of them, but the truth of the matter is the New York Times hasn\u2019t been journalism in I don\u2019t know how many years.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Back on Saturday, the opinion editors of the New York Times tweeted a link to the article about Kavanaugh and Deborah Ramirez with the comment… Oh, gosh. If you are offended by the actual names of male and female body parts, I\u2019m gonna give you five seconds to tune out so that you won\u2019t be bothered — and if you don\u2019t tune out and you\u2019re bothered, you can\u2019t complain to us because you have been warned.<\/p>\n

Okay, ready? Five… four… three… two… one. So on Saturday, the opinion editors at the New York Times tweeted a link to their article about Kavanaugh and Deborah Ramirez — who doesn\u2019t remember anything happening — and they tweeted the comment, “Having a penis thrust in your face at a drunken dorm party may seem like harmless fun. But when Brett Kavanaugh did it to her, Deborah Ramirez says, it confirmed that she didn\u2019t belong at Yale in the first place.” She doesn\u2019t remember! Do you know what the Times is embarrassed about?<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Not that they lied about Kavanaugh. No, no, no, no. The Times doesn\u2019t have a problem with that at all. They are embarrassed that they referred to “having a penis thrust in your face at a … party” as “harmless fun,” \u2019cause in the #MeToo movement there\u2019s nothing about that that\u2019s harmless, and there\u2019s nothing about that that\u2019s fun. So the people of New York Times are feeling appropriately guilty over referring to something like that as “harmless fun.”<\/p>\n

They don\u2019t have one bit of a problem with the fact that they lied about Kavanaugh. But now everybody\u2019s trying to point fingers of blame at other people. One of the New York Times reporters behind this bogus bombshell story detailing this bogus new sexual misconduct allegation about Kavanaugh is now saying, “Well, the editors did it! I didn\u2019t have anything to do with it. The editors did it.” The tweet was deleted by the New York Times. The editors did it.<\/p>\n

So it\u2019s the New York Times opinion editors have screwed things up by leaving out that the victim didn\u2019t remember the incident? The reporters knew. They didn\u2019t put it in the story, but it was in their books, and now they\u2019re trying to pass the buck to the editors for leaving out this crucial bit of information. Charles Grassley, who was the Judiciary Committee chairman during all of this, said that Kavanaugh\u2019s classmate didn\u2019t contact them.<\/p>\n

Senator Grassley who “oversaw Brett Kavanaugh\u2019s Supreme Court hearing, said on Monday that a former classmate accusing the justice of sexual misconduct didn\u2019t contact the Senate Judiciary Committee last year. ‘That person, Mr. Stier, didn\u2019t reach out or provide information to the committee majority. … My office never received anything from Mr. Stier or his unnamed friends.'” This is the guy who\u2019s simply trying to get even with Kavanaugh. Kavanaugh worked on the Starr Report team while Max Stier was working for Clinton in this whole special counsel investigation — Lewinsky, Paula Jones, and all that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Trump has gone even farther on the New York Times. He says they\u2019re destroying lives. This hit job on Kavanaugh is… They\u2019re destroying lives with fake news. There\u2019s no question that\u2019s what they\u2019re trying to do to Kavanaugh. They\u2019re destroying him. They did this even before the confirmation vote. They tried to destroy his life, his career, his past, his future. They\u2019re trying to taint everything the man does going forward.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
