I am&#8230; I\u2019m, uh&#8230; I get so nervous. I\u2019m a proud patriot with a Prius. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/rush.radiothon.org\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/01125112.Par.89380.ImageFile.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"600\" class=\"alignright\"\/><\/a>RUSH: What did you say? Lowered standards for call quality? <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Yeah, well, caller quality. <\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Oh, you\u2019re reacting to a couple days ago, earlier this week. <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Well, it was Open Line Friday, anyway. <\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Yeah, but it was &#8212; no, it was Monday. <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Oh, yeah. <\/p>\n<p>RUSH: It was Monday. Everybody thought I was getting &#8212; I\u2019ll tell you what you\u2019re reacting to. &#8216;My gosh, Rush, is this the best callers you could do?\u2019 They were perfect for what we were trying to accomplish on Monday. <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: I\u2019ll give you that.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Yes.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: But, anyway, I have a Prius in Montana, and I kind of got tired of enriching the Middle East and paying for both sides of the war. So I would like to have the opportunity to refute your claims that they are too small, too dangerous and too expensive. <\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Uh&#8230; Now, have you heard me say they\u2019re too small? <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Uh-huh! Oh, yeah! <\/p>\n<p>RUSH: No, have you heard me say it or have you heard others say I\u2019ve said it? <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: No, no, I listen to you all the time. <\/p>\n<p>RUSH: No, no.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: I heard you say it. <\/p>\n<p>RUSH: I\u2019ve never said they\u2019re too small. Dangerous? I don\u2019t know. <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Yeah. <\/p>\n<p>RUSH: If you don\u2019t mind the risk of being electrocuted by the battery. <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Ha! Ha! Well, technically they\u2019re a mid-sized car. They got a four- and five-star safety rating. And with your standard business mileage write-off, you can get it to pay for itself &#8212; and they come in blaaaaack. <\/p>\n<p>RUSH: I know. I see them all over the place, here.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Okay. <\/p>\n<p>RUSH: In fact, I have fun when I see people in Priuses. <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: You what?<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: I have fun when I see people in Priuses <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Oh. How do you have fun? <\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Well, I drive a car that could eat one. <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Oh, right. (giggles) <\/p>\n<p>RUSH: (laughing) So I give it an enema when I\u2019m following it. I get real close in there.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Mmm-hmm.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: If I\u2019m parked next to one at a stoplight and the light turns green, I peel rubber, just to show the driver that I don\u2019t mind destroying the planet. <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Oh, yeah. Well&#8230; <\/p>\n<p>RUSH: So here\u2019s the thing. <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: I\u2019m not worried about destroying the planet. I just don\u2019t want to make the Middle East any richer than they already are. <\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Well, there\u2019s a way. I appreciate your &#8212; <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: It would be nice if they drilled here. But it\u2019s just not happening, you know. <\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Absolutely, but I just want you to understand something about your Prius and my reaction. <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Mmm-hmm?<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: I\u2019m all for anybody getting the car they want. <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Mmm-hmm.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: If you love that Prius and you really want it, then go get it. I\u2019m not one to tell anybody what they can and can\u2019t do or should and shouldn\u2019t have. <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Right. <\/p>\n<p>RUSH: But what I cringe at is people getting swept up by the tug of popular sentiment, to thinking that purchasing a certain kind of car is going to save the planet. <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Oh, of course. <\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Then these people end up thinking they\u2019re better than everybody else. A Prius is no different than one of these colored ribbons that people wear. <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: All right.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: For a lot of people. Not you, of course. <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: No, no I\u2019ve got a &#8212; <\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Most people driving a Prius, they\u2019re running around &#8212; you can see them in there. They\u2019re all smug and they\u2019re sitting up there like they\u2019re saying, &#8216;I\u2019m better than you.\u2019 That\u2019s why I peel off, leave a little rubber, and drive a car that could eat one. <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Oh, yeah. Well, I got a bumper sticker that says &#8216;Hug a Logger: You\u2019ll Never Go Back to Trees.\u2019 <\/p>\n<p>RUSH: (laughing) That\u2019s great. <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Anyway, Montana is a really good state to buy any car. There\u2019s no sales tax here, and in Wyoming there\u2019s no state income tax, you know? So a lot of people drive into northern Wyoming and they drive into Montana to shop, and then you have Indian reservations right there for your tobacco products. So they don\u2019t call us &#8216;the last best place&#8230;\u2019 <\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Montana and Wyoming, the way America used to be.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER Yeah!<\/p>\n<p><BR\/>RUSH: Indian reservations, free tobacco, no sales tax. <\/line><BR\/> <\/line><BR\/>CALLER: You got it. Uh huh.<\/line><\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Guns! <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Oh, yeah. Open carry. <\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Deer, antelope, the fruited plain. Buy whatever car you want. <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: You bet.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: And even have phone lines to call talk shows. <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Pardon me? <\/p>\n<p>RUSH: You even have telephone lines to call talk shows. <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Oh, we\u2019ve got that. Yeah. We gave up the smoke signals a while back. <\/p>\n<p>RUSH: (chuckling) All right. <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: (giggles)<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Well, Jan\u2019s been on hold here for about 90 minutes. So I really appreciate your patience. <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Okey-dokey. <\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Have fun with the Prius, and, by the way, you might call me back when you find out how much it costs to replace the battery.
