{"id":32192,"date":"2009-04-16T01:01:01","date_gmt":"2011-05-19T02:30:27","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2011-05-19T02:30:27","modified_gmt":"2011-05-19T02:30:27","slug":"texas_governor_talks_secession","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/admin.rushlimbaugh.com\/daily\/2009\/04\/16\/texas_governor_talks_secession\/","title":{"rendered":"Texas Governor Talks Secession"},"content":{"rendered":"<section>\n<p>RUSH: Probably one of the most noteworthy things to come out of the tea parties was in Austin, Texas, yesterday, Governor Rick Perry spoke with reporters, and an unidentified reporter said, &#8216;The idea of secession or sovereignty for your state?\u2019<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/01125109.Par.89380.ImageFile_579144c9abb62.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"227\" class=\"alignright\"\/>PERRY: Texas is a unique place. When we came into the union in 1845, one of the issues was that we would be able to leave if we decided to do that. My hope is that America and Washington in particular pays attention. We\u2019ve got a great union. There\u2019s absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, who knows what may come out of that.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Now, this is not insignificant. When the governor of Texas talks about, &#8216;We could secede, I don\u2019t think it\u2019s going to happen, I hope it doesn\u2019t, but we could.\u2019 When the governor of Texas starts talking about this because of the abuse of government on his citizens and on his state, and forcing his state to take federal money when he doesn\u2019t want it &#8212; and I also think, I run into them, there\u2019s still some conservatives who, the Drive-By Media is gospel to them. I say they\u2019re conservatives. They\u2019re not active. They\u2019re not liberals. I\u2019m wondering at some point how much of the excesses of the media are gonna finally start causing other people to have lights go on in their heads, hey, something\u2019s not quite right here when you have the governor of Texas start talking about the possibility of getting out of all this because of the abuse of government. This guy is not a fringe kook.
