According to The Hill, a couple of female penguins named \u201cRocky\u201d and \u201cMarama,\u201d are being treated as a \u201ccouple\u201d at the Sea Life Foundation in London. Aquarium manager Graham McGrath says the two female penguins have \u201cshown their commitment to each other\u201d in previous breeding seasons.<\/p>\n
How? I don\u2019t know. The article doesn\u2019t say. They\u2019re probably just guessing or hoping.<\/p>\n
But it does say that in addition to \u201dshowing their commitment to each other,\u201d these two women penguins showed they can build a nest.<\/p>\n

The aquarium has decided to define this baby penguin as \u201cgender neutral.\u201d They didn\u2019t ask the penguin about it, they just did it. Manager McGrath says this may ruffle a few feathers, but he\u2019s okay with that.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m going to make a prediction. If this chick grows to maturity, it will prove that it isn\u2019t \u201cgender neutral.\u201d And it will eventually mate with a penguin of the opposite sex. Another guess. There won\u2019t be any \u201cMarch of the Purple Penguin\u201d documentaries in theaters anytime soon.<\/p>\n
