CALLER: Hi.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER: How are you?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Good. I\u2019m excellent. Never better.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, good.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m calling, I\u2019ve just been listening for a short time.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Hm-hm.<\/p>\n

CALLER: But I\u2019m curious about some of the stuff that you say. For instance, when you say what you hear is what we want you to hear, what do you mean?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, it\u2019s not really that complicated. But you gotta again put it in context. I said that we have been getting complaints, even from some of my closest friends, about the quality of callers today, that they haven\u2019t been quite up to the usual intelligence of daily callers. And I got kind of angry because this assumes even my closest friends and some in the audience to many that I don\u2019t know what I\u2019m doing, and I do. So what I meant to say is every caller you hear is on the air for a reason.<\/p>\n

CALLER: So if you do know, then I\u2019m curious as a radio host, why not go into politics and do something good for our country?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, as a new listener, you\u2019re entitled to that question. I\u2019ve been asked that question multiple times a week for 20 years, 20-plus years. And the answer is the pay cut.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay. Okay. I\u2019ll give you that. Then, as an American, why are you so anxious to have a division in our country? As I see it, I think Obama is trying to pull the country together, Republicans, Democrats, but you are bound and determined to only find and take out of context the things that you want us to hear rather than —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, wait just a second —<\/p>\n

CALLER: — acknowledging — <\/p>\n

RUSH: — now, Michelle.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, wait just a second. Have you been listening to the program today?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019ve heard it off and on. I walk in and out of the office —<\/p>\n

RUSH: I am praising Obama to the hilt today.<\/p>\n

CALLER: So when you say —<\/p>\n

RUSH: — you have wounded me to the heart.<\/p>\n

CALLER: So when you say our fair leader, you\u2019re not being sarcastic?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Our great leader, our great brave president.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Our great leader. You\u2019re not being sarcastic?<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s for you to decide. You\u2019re the listener.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I think you are.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, you do?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, I do. I think you\u2019re being very sarcastic, and I do think that you are trying to divide our country.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a second, Michelle. Are you saying that I\u2019m being sarcastic today, that the things I have said about President Obama today are not true?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No. No. I am sorry, Mr. Limbaugh, I don\u2019t reference just today. I have heard your program —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, but you can\u2019t throw today out. I\u2019ll talk to you in just a second about previous days. I\u2019m going to answer every question you\u2019ve asked me, but I want to know, you\u2019re listening today, off and on, in and out. I have praised President Obama today.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Go ahead, I\u2019m sorry.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Are you at work, are you talking to somebody else?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, I\u2019m sorry.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Very, very rude, very rude. I\u2019m not talking to anybody.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I am sorry. I apologize.<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right, okay, okay, but I\u2019m not talking to anybody else.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Thank you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, I have praised President Obama to the hilt today.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Today.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And you don\u2019t believe it. And you are one who wants Obama to succeed, and here you think you\u2019ve got me, despite what you think of previous days, here I am, I\u2019m totally on board, and you somehow still think I\u2019m being mean.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, when you said —<\/p>\n

RUSH: It must mean that you don\u2019t believe what I\u2019m saying about Obama is true.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No. Like your one caller, who said — you said that the president gave the order to shoot, and you ended it there. And then another caller of yours said, ‘if there is a threat.\u2019 And so you took it out of context, to me, is what I got out of that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, the caller was taking things out of context —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Now, the caller finished the statement —<\/p>\n

RUSH: I was placing things back in context. You see, once again, you listened to me give President Obama credit. We had a caller who said that Obama gave the order to shoot Saturday, but the shooting didn\u2019t start until Sunday. And therefore, I was wrong when I said Obama gave the order to shoot. And I said, no, I\u2019m not wrong. He gave the order to shoot Saturday. The Navy didn\u2019t. They disobeyed. And there\u2019s insubordination. He said shoot Saturday; they didn\u2019t shoot \u2019til Sunday. I am in President Obama\u2019s corner on this.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay. Okay. Okay. And so the issue, you know, that\u2019s not a huge issue as to which day, but —<\/p>\n

RUSH: But it was to the caller.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Huh?<\/p>\n
