RUSH: Here\u2019s Barack Obama. I talked about how the left thinks that we just have to sacrifice, we all must sacrifice. We have to suffer. The only way this country will be just and fair is if everybody is equally miserable in their suffering and sacrifice — and he said it, essentially, on Face the Nation yesterday. Bob Schieffer talked about announcing his plans today on the takeover of General Motors and canning the CEO. ‘What are these companies going to have to do, President Obama, in order to get additional bailout money?\u2019<\/p>\n

OBAMA: We think we can have a successful US auto industry, BUT! It\u2019s got to be one that\u2019s realistically designed to weather this storm and to emerge, uh, at the other end, uh, much more lean, uh, mean, and competitive than it currently is. Uh, and that\u2019s going to mean, uh, a set of sacrifices from all parties involved: management, labor, shareholders, creditors, suppliers, dealers. Everybody\u2019s going to have to come to the table and say, ‘It\u2019s important for us to, uhhh, oh, to take serious restructuring steps now in order t\u2019preserve a brighter future down the road.\u2019<\/p>\n

RUSH: He keeps talking about this brighter future down the road, but then always throws cold water on it. He threw cold water on it today. (paraphrased) ‘I can\u2019t save your job. I can\u2019t guarantee your job is going to be saved. I can\u2019t guarantee you that your plant\u2019s going to stay open. I can\u2019t guarantee that there\u2019s going to be an auto industry, but I\u2019m not taking it over, either, even though I just fired the CEO. But I can guarantee you that every damn one of you is going to sacrifice! Every damn one of you is going to suffer,\u2019 because somehow ‘sacrificcccce\u2019 has become the new patriotism. Now, sacrifice is all well and good when you talk about the sacrifices military men and women make, but in the context of American exceptionalism?<\/p>\n

Sacrifice? Sacrifice doesn\u2019t build things. Not the way he\u2019s talking about it. He doesn\u2019t mean the virtue of sacrifice — and I don\u2019t want to upset any of you Ayn Rand supporters. I know what I\u2019m talking about here when it comes to sacrifice. But he looks at it as some virtuous thing to be miserable. To be in sacrifice, somehow that\u2019s fair. That\u2019s going to make America what America should be. It\u2019s just scary, because he\u2019s going to ensure it! He\u2019s going to make sure that there\u2019s sacrifice, and that\u2019s what his administration\u2019s all about. Sunday morning, the syndicated program Our World with Black Enterprise, the host Ed Gordon and Vibe magazine editor-in-chief Danyel Smith have this exchange about some Democrats and the way they\u2019re feeling toward President Obama.<\/p>\n

GORDON: Let\u2019s talk about Democrats. There is — whether we like to believe it or not — a sense of sometimes in-house jealousy. It\u2019s not just Rush Limbaugh who maybe quietly says, I don\u2019t want this man to succeed. There are those in fact — <\/p>\n

SMITH: He says it loud. (chuckles)<\/p>\n

GORDON: But there are those who in fact are saying it quietly. That\u2019s always the case in Washington. I just want everybody to be realistic. You know, he is no messiah. <\/p>\n

SMITH: He\u2019s not. No.<\/p>\n

GORDON: So he hasn\u2019t changed Washington\u2019s thought altogether.<\/p>\n

RUSH: There\u2019s Ed Gordon. He says there\u2019s Democrats that want him to fail based on people are jealous. There are Democrats that have jealousy and envy. They don\u2019t want him to succeed because they\u2019ll freeze him out. That\u2019s what Ed Gordon\u2019s point is. Danyel Smith then said this about Obama and patriotism.<\/p>\n

SMITH: In the last administration where patriotism was always on the table. If you were… You were a patriot if you did this; you weren\u2019t a patriot if you did that. And I just think, ummm, that it is sort of time right now for a new kind of patriotism, and I think it\u2019s the kind of patriotism that does not allow for people to say — and I hate to use this word ‘allow\u2019 because of my belief in free speech. But to say that I want the president to fail, when we are in this situation? I don\u2019t care if the president is me or you. Whoever is in that office right now is the country! It seems to me that we need to come together with some patience and some sacrifice and help this man succeed. What happens if he does, in fact, fail? Where will we be then?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, Danyel, let me just tell you. Based on what we\u2019ve seen with General Motors and the banks, if he fails, America is saved. Barack Obama\u2019s policies and their failure is the only hope we\u2019ve got to maintain the America of our founding. We can sit here all the all day as we have. We can rail against General Motors. There is nothing going to stop any of this. Nothing is stopping it. I can say all day long, ‘Gosh, I hope this fails isn\u2019t going to stop anything.\u2019 Has anybody heard the Republicans say anything today about the firing of Rick Wagoner? If they have, it hasn\u2019t been reported. Republicans, as usual, are a week behind the times. They\u2019re out there rapping about the budget, which is okay, the budget needs to be rapped about, ‘We\u2019ll rap about it further,\u2019 but the big news of the today is GM. I haven\u2019t heard a Republican, have you? I haven\u2019t seen any media who find anything the slightest bit squishy about this. <\/p>\n

When the history of this is written, people are going to say, ‘Where was the media? Where were the Republicans?\u2019 Where were all of the ‘moderate\u2019 Republicans who told us that this guy\u2019s temperament and his steadiness, and his intellect, that\u2019s why we should support him? Well, remember, it\u2019s not what Obama knows; it\u2019s what you think he knows. It\u2019s what he makes you think he knows. He doesn\u2019t know anything about the automobile business. He doesn\u2019t know how to change a tire. The automobile business needs car guys, people that love grease, get in there, manufacture these engines and cars, great designs, lines, and make people want to go out and buy these cars. Car companies have to be run by financial people today \u2019cause they\u2019re basically health care and retirement funds. The side business is making cars, hoping that they pay for some of it. RUSH: Yes. Yes. Yes.<\/p>\n

CALLER: So my question to you — and this is from a first-time caller, longtime listener; I\u2019ve been listening to you for about half my life, which would be 20 years, since I was in college — is: ‘What industry is Obama going to nationalize next?\u2019 Is it going to be timber, oil, ag(riculture), utility companies? Which next environmental thing will he go on after?<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s a wild guess. I don\u2019t think he\u2019ll so much go after timber, and he\u2019s not going to go after any of the ingredients necessary to make a teleprompter. But I wouldn\u2019t be surprised… I\u2019ll tell you what\u2019s going to happen. At some point, just because of inflation, gasoline\u2019s going to skyrocket, as is oil, and that\u2019s going to be the next industry. Maxine Waters has already told us. Maxine Waters already said, ‘Your profits are too high! We need to run your companies.\u2019 I think the next industry that they\u2019re going to target somehow will be Big Oil. Well, Big Health. You know, Big Pharmaceutical, Big Doctor, ‘Big\u2019 whatever evil components there are in the health care industry. They\u2019re already targeting them, but it will be Big Oil. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Don in Raleigh, North Carolina. Great to have you here, sir. Hello.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. Hey, Rush, mega dittos, and I just want to quickly say thanks for getting me through the Clinton years. I couldn\u2019t have got through \u2019em without you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you, sir, very much. Happy to be the leader.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, great. Great to have you there. But I was just calling to react to something you said earlier today. And that is that there\u2019s a line that politicians have the power to cross, but they shouldn\u2019t, and Obama continues to cross.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That they haven\u2019t. You know, Lincoln crossed the line with habeas corpus back in the Civil War. Took some measures there, but they were restored. But even in World War II FDR did nothing like what Obama is doing, and once that line is crossed, they don\u2019t give it up, they don\u2019t go back.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. Well, I could not imagine Ronald Reagan doing some of these things because of his character and the fact that he has such great respect for our liberty and our system of free enterprise, I mean he just wouldn\u2019t do that, and I think all of this is displaying Obama\u2019s character or lack thereof which, again, that was all covered up during the campaign last year, and all these people that voted for him, you know, now we\u2019re paying the price —<\/p>\n

RUSH: I know what you mean. When you talk about his character, you\u2019re talking about who he is, who reared him, who raised him, who mentored him, who his associations were. I agree, they\u2019re all important, they were covered up. This is a radical guy. This is a very arrogant, radical guy who is angry. Nobody will convince me otherwise. Yeah, I mean he doesn\u2019t show it. Sometimes I think I notice it. I think it flares at times. Not the anger, but he reveals that he has a bunch of chips on his shoulder, and we know his wife does, and we know Reverend Wright does. We\u2019re getting a lot of this stuff that\u2019s happening right out of Reverend Wright\u2019s sermons. There really is. And a lot of what\u2019s going to happen in education, right out of Bill Ayers\u2019 curriculum, his extremist, terrorist buddy. <\/p>\n

The best way to understand Obama, and I can\u2019t say this enough, he really believes that it\u2019s his job to return the nation\u2019s wealth to its rightful, quote, unquote, rightful owners. And that means that he believes the people who have wealth have stolen it from those who have no wealth. It\u2019s been unfairly achieved and accrued, and it\u2019s his job to take it and redistribute it. And that\u2019s what he means by sacrifice. When he talks about sacrifice, he\u2019s talking about raising your taxes, taking away your assets, and giving them to other people he thinks you stole them from who are thus more deserving. If you\u2019ll just be open to admit it, you can see it practically every day in his policy pronouncements. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
