RUSH: Grand Junction, Colorado. This is Candy. It\u2019s great to have you with us, Candy. Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hey, Rush.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I just got my new federal tax tables in the mail yesterday. I have a little business, and support my husband and I, along with my Social Security and we also have a full-time employee and a very part-time employee. Now, I was under the impression that our federal taxes were to be reduced, Rush, weren\u2019t you?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I have never been under the illusion that the Obama administration was about reducing anybody\u2019s taxes, and I have been trying, you know, I\u2019m in a foul mood today, I was in a foul mood yesterday, I\u2019m in a foul mood today so I don\u2019t mean to be taking it out on you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: You can take it out on me.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I get so sick and tired of saying, ‘I told you.\u2019 Not you personally, but there are no tax cuts, there are no budget cuts, there are no cuts in anything except the military and freedom with this administration, zip, zero, nada. So you got your tax tables now for your little small business with a part-timer and a full-timer and you\u2019re going to tell us how your taxes are going up, right?<\/p>\n

CALLER: My taxes are going up. <\/p>\n

RUSH: But you\u2019re the backbone of America, you are small business, you hire people and your taxes are going up. How can this be, Candy?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, now, Rush, not only my taxes are going up, but everybody in the whole United States\u2019 taxes are going up. They will not be able to earn one dollar in full, if they make one dollar a month, they will only receive 92 cents of it. The tax tables start at zero. If you make one dollar, they want 7.65% of it. Ironically that\u2019s the same amount that you withhold —<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right, all right, hang on. Last year, what\u2019s the change in last year\u2019s tax tables?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, last year\u2019s tax tables, if you were on a weekly table, you could earn up to $160 a week with no federal taxes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now they tax your first dollar?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Now they tax your first dollar.<\/p>\n

RUSH: At seven point some odd percent.<\/p>\n

CALLER: 7.65%.<\/p>\n

RUSH: 7.65%, so you keep 91 or 92 cents —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Ninety-two cents.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Ninety-two cents. So that means you gotta start deducting from the first dollar for your part-timer and full timer in your business?<\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And they\u2019re going to look at this as though you\u2019re cutting their pay, they\u2019re not going to blame government, they\u2019re going to blame you, you understand this, Candy?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well —<\/p>\n

RUSH: You can show \u2019em the tax tables and they\u2019re not going to be able to understand it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No.<\/p>\n

RUSH: How long have they been working for you?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I\u2019ve got one employee that just went to work for me and my husband and I have been working here for two-and-a-half years. We\u2019ve owned this business for two-and-a-half years, it\u2019s a little corporation. We made about $140,000 gross last year.<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right, what\u2019s going to happen is that your employees\u2019 paychecks are going to be smaller once these tables are required by law to be applied.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, they\u2019re asking us to apply them now.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Fine. So the next pay period your employees are going to have less take-home pay and guess who they\u2019re going to be mad at? They\u2019re going to accuse you because you\u2019re rich.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well —<\/p>\n

RUSH: What you\u2019re doing is you\u2019re trying to save money. They think Obama is going to tax you out of existence, which is true, and so they think you\u2019re going to be hoarding your money. You\u2019re going to have an interesting time explaining to them — you can show them the tax tables.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I will.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And they\u2019ll blame Bush. Do you know what their political inclinations happen to be?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Do I?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah. Are they Republican, Democrat, liberal, conservative, communist, Marxist, what are they?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Power and money.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, your employees.<\/p>\n

CALLER: My employees?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Your employees, yeah, what are they, liberal, conservative, Marxist, socialist, communist?<\/p>\n

CALLER: You know, I don\u2019t know. They\u2019re both gay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You can\u2019t assign an ideological —<\/p>\n

CALLER: To that, you\u2019re right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You can\u2019t do that.<\/p>\n

CALLER: But they\u2019re good kids. They\u2019re really good kids, they\u2019re hardworking kids.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, exactly. I\u2019m sure they\u2019re great employees.<\/p>\n

CALLER: They are great employees.<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right, then what you need to do, you need to tell \u2019em that this is the result of Barney Frank.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughing) Okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Do it. I mean Barney Frank, Chuck Rangel. It\u2019s all Pelosi, it\u2019s all coming from the Democrat Ways and Means Committee, it\u2019s the Democrats doing this, so you can say Barney Frank.<\/p>\n

CALLER: This is gonna affect everybody\u2019s payroll. It\u2019s going to affect your payroll. It\u2019s going to affect everybody in the whole United States. I\u2019ll have to reevaluate. I\u2019d like to give my employees more money. I\u2019d like to give that money to them.<\/p>\n
