CALLER: Mega dittos from Tucson, Rush. Thanks for taking my call.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You bet, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, sir. Quick question about Matt Drudge<\/a>. I want to get your take on Drudge and the doom and gloom Drudge seems to hot link every single day now for like the last year or so. And the question is, sir, do you think Drudge is now a Never Trumper?<\/p>\n

RUSH: How did this call get past the screener? I need to know how did this call get past the screener? Somebody\u2019s setting me up in here. (laughing) Okay. So your question is basically what happened to Drudge, because your memory is Drudge was pro-Trump and very supportive, now you read Drudge and you think he\u2019s joined the anti-Trump forces? Is that right?<\/p>\n

\"\"CALLER: That\u2019s correct, Mr. Limbaugh. I feel like sometimes I\u2019m reading CNN, especially with the headline of 12% of Republicans don\u2019t support the president today. It just kind of infuriates me.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, what do you think is going on? You obviously have noticed it, so what do you think or what do you fear the explanation is?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m in immigration. I work for the federal government, but I can\u2019t go into it too much because of the Hatch Act. But I think it\u2019s because of his immigration thing a couple years ago that he wasn\u2019t tough enough on it. That\u2019s the only thing I can think of, but I\u2019ve noticed it, it\u2019s marked in the last year, year and a half —<\/p>\n

RUSH: This is an interesting theory. Let me rephrase this as I would say what I just heard you say. Don\u2019t be offended by this. This is the way I explain it to myself. You tell me if I\u2019ve got this right or wrong.<\/p>\n

Back in the days of the Trump campaign and leading up, you know, the first few months after the Trump inauguration, the Drudge page appeared to be highly supportive of policies and the election of Donald Trump. And then you detected a softening of support for Trump that\u2019s now evolved to where you think there may actively be opposition or criticism, blatant taking the media stories that are highly critical of Trump and banner headlining them.<\/p>\n

You think this is because Drudge is upset that Trump hasn\u2019t done enough of what he said he was gonna do, particularly on the wall, particularly on immigration, and you think Drudge may be a little upset that Trump is not following through enough on what he said?<\/p>\n

CALLER: You know, Mr. Limbaugh, as usual, you draw an illustrative picture, and I think that\u2019s it. That is it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, you\u2019re not the first person to ask me this, just so you know, Brad. My email inbox every day, “What\u2019s happening to Drudge, Rush? What\u2019s going on with Drudge?” And I tell people, \u201cHave you ever heard of clicks?\u201d Matt Drudge has always, has always sought to have his page be unpredictable and not uniform. He has always sought to have one of the busiest and most trafficked Web pages, websites out there, and there\u2019s a lot that goes into doing that. There\u2019s a lot of unpredictability.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Sure.<\/p>\n

\"\"RUSH: Not appearing to be in one camp constantly. And, you know, Drudge is a one-man show. You could be right. He literally could be either mad at Trump, let down, disappointed by Trump, any number of things. I actually don\u2019t know, \u2019cause I don\u2019t \u2013<\/p>\n

CALLER: (crosstalk)<\/p>\n

RUSH: Pardon me?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I said thank you for entertaining my theory at least, Mr. Limbaugh.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s a good one. I don\u2019t ask him. There\u2019s a professional courtesy. He can run his business however he wants. I don\u2019t ask him. He has never said one thing about how I do this radio show. He\u2019s never had one comment, other than to praise how wonderful and great it is and meaningful and powerful and all, but he\u2019s never — I mean, in the micromanagement, \u201cWhy, you shouldn\u2019t be talking about\u2026\u201d never, never anything like that. So, it\u2019s a professional courtesy.<\/p>\n

Folks, I just study it, try to figure it out on my own without intruding because it\u2019s his business and he can do it as he wishes. And he\u2019s obviously, you know, he\u2019s near the top of the pack in traffic websites. But it\u2019s interesting, that for this complaint to exist, there had to at one time have been a perception that Drudge was all-in on the Trump candidacy and the Trump presidency. I don\u2019t think that\u2019s wrong. I think that\u2019s probably true.<\/p>\n
