CALLER:\u00a0 Hey, Rush.\u00a0 Thanks for having me on, sir.\u00a0 What I wanted to address was what you were saying earlier, what Trump doesn\u2019t get credit for.\u00a0 He speaks to people\u2019s needs as opposed to people\u2019s wants, and everybody needs the same thing.\u00a0 They need security.\u00a0 They need to know that when they wake up in the morning, they\u2019re waking up to the same world that they went to sleep in.\u00a0 Everybody wants different things.<\/p>\n
RUSH:\u00a0 Well, you\u2019re talking about the things the Democrats say, wondering what his magic is, that they haven\u2019t been able to figure out?\u00a0 Is that what you\u2019re addressing?<\/p>\n
CALLER:\u00a0 Correct.<\/p>\n
RUSH: That he speaks to their needs as well as their wants.<\/p>\n
CALLER:\u00a0 No, they speak to their wants.\u00a0 Everybody wants different things.\u00a0 Everybody needs the same thing.<\/p>\n
RUSH:\u00a0 So you say Trump\u2019s speaking to their needs?<\/p>\n
CALLER:\u00a0 Right, and Democrats speak to their wants.\u00a0 When you speak on only to people\u2019s wants, you\u2019re alienating —<\/p>\n
RUSH:\u00a0 Give me an example of “need.” What do you mean?<\/p>\n
CALLER:\u00a0 Okay.\u00a0 Everybody needs security.\u00a0 Everybody needs to know that the world they wake up in is the same as the one they went to sleep in.\u00a0 Everybody wants different things.\u00a0 I want a new iPhone; I don\u2019t need a new iPhone.\u00a0 People want to do certain things, but they don\u2019t need to do certain things.\u00a0 If you only say what people want, you\u2019re ignoring the people who don\u2019t want those the same things.\u00a0 Like the Democrats can\u2019t understand how people don\u2019t want open borders, right?\u00a0 But most people don\u2019t need open borders.\u00a0 That\u2019s why so many people are against it.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 Okay.\u00a0 I think I gather this.\u00a0 That Democrats do specifically address people\u2019s wants and claim to be able to provide them.\u00a0 That\u2019s why the Democrat Party really does try to come off as Santa Claus.\u00a0 But they also… The reason why I asked you for your separation is I think the Democrats also assume to provide needs.\u00a0 I think the Democrats basically think they\u2019re gonna offer people everything, and that\u2019s the fallacy.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s why there\u2019s so many people that vote for Democrats that are unhappy, dissatisfied, \u2019cause Democrats are promising all kinds of things that they can\u2019t deliver.\u00a0 But yet the continuing promise to do so remains alluring.\u00a0 The hope is that one of these days, maybe they\u2019ll be able to accomplish it.\u00a0 But I know. I get your distinction between wants and needs.\u00a0 And Trump dealing with people\u2019s needs, security — meaning a wall, meaning protection against being overrun at the border by illegal immigration, protection against unfair trade partners.
