CALLER: No, but I know many like her, Rush. You know —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah —<\/p>\n

CALLER: — what it\u2019s like in Maryland.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Odds are pretty good being you\u2019re in Baltimore.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, my God. You\u2019re the… I\u2019m literally half blind and if I don\u2019t hear you, if I don\u2019t hear your show at least an hour and a half a day, I walk the streets of Baltimore potential victim of all this crazy liberalism. While I was listening, Rush, my main point — and before I get to my main point I think I called for something that might not have called is when Obama was saying that you might not have caught.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah. I want to stop you for just a second.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Are you literally, legally half blind?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, I\u2019m actually blind. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I lost vision in my right eye.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I just want this audience to know that you, sir, are courageous. We have a shortage of courage in this country, particularly on our side of the aisle. Do you realize how much courage he has? This man had the guts to suggest I might have missed something.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughing) Yeah, it was something in an audio clip and not a visual! (laughing)<\/p>\n

RUSH: What did I miss?<\/p>\n

CALLER: When Obama, when he — you were playing the sound bite of him saying that he didn\u2019t create these contracts but, you know, he\u2019s the president so come talk to him. Well, basically that was his teleprompter telling you to talk to him. It was a subliminal message for you, for you to come talk to the teleprompter. Your question to the teleprompter yesterday garnered a response through the blog site, okay? So the teleprompter was basically saying come talk to the teleprompter, not to talk to Obama.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I\u2019ll tell you what. This teleprompter…<\/p>\n

CALLER: (chuckles)<\/p>\n

RUSH: This teleprompter\u2019s got its own website.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It wants you to talk to it, Rush. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I am talking to the teleprompter.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It wants you to answer its questions.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I asked the teleprompter some questions yesterday, and the teleprompter on its blog site says that it\u2019s going to answer those questions, but it\u2019s got a busy day today — <\/p>\n

CALLER: Mmm-hmm.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — because it\u2019s out on the West Coast with Obama and teleprompter may need to be around. It\u2019s been told to be on standby, because it might need to offer Obama some catchy, pithy phrases for phone calls he has to make with foreign leaders.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Mmm-hmm. My main point I was calling about, Rush, was the hypocrisy, of course. You should have a whole page, a hypocrisy page with your website, I think, where you put side-by-side comparisons. But hypocrisy between, you know, what… Everyone is up in arms about the AIG payouts and bonuses, the retentions. Of course we\u2019re assuming these people who were left behind with retentions we thought were the ones who would one day make it a profit. If we own 80% of this company now, we sure as hell want it one day to actually make a profit again. So we want to keep the best and brightest on board. But no one said —<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, no, no. No, no, no. That\u2019s not… I hate… Look, I don\u2019t mean to be rude here, but I\u2019m quickly running out of time. But I gotta tell you something. RUSH: PajamasMedia.com, Victor Davis Hanson, the title: ‘The ‘Depression\u2019 for Us Idiots.\u2019 I printed it out and it\u2019s three pages long. It\u2019s just brilliant. I want to link to it at RushLimbaugh.com because the beginning of this will sort of tell you what it is. ‘I confess I don\u2019t know all that much about the theory of economics, and have done some unwise things in the strict financial sense the last thirty years — remodeled an ancient family farm house that will never be appraised at what was sunk into it, both farmed and rented out a 40-acre Thompson seedless vineyard whose returns usually did not pay the property taxes, irrigation taxes, infrastructure upkeep, and depreciation — and in unthinking fashion kept up my modest monthly 401(k) contributions through the height of inflated Wall Street stock prices. My point? Many of us who have little abstract financial or economic sense are nonetheless baffled about the bad news from the economic front — and the inability of so-called experts to clarify issues. Let me list some troubling items.\u2019 I don\u2019t even want to try to paraphrase this because I could not do it justice and I don\u2019t have time to read the whole thing, but we will link to it at RushLimbaugh.com so that you can see it for yourself. <\/p>\n

Also, this is a Bloomberg story: ”Lost Bonuses Mean Manhattan Home Prices to Drop Most Since \u201980\u2019 — Manhattan apartment sales declined 23 percent last year as the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell the most since the Great Depression.\u2019 Now, I\u2019m not against things like this per se, but I\u2019ll tell you what\u2019s happening here with the targeting of people that work on Wall Street and the raising taxes 90% on these people\u2019s bonuses, executive compensation for any outfit that accepts bailout money and so forth, Mayor Bloomberg knows the tax revenue from about 50,000 people supports New York City. If any of them start to leave it\u2019s going to put even bigger burdens on the people that stay and if housing prices are plummeting, New York City is going to get creamed with Obama economic policies. And nobody has the courage to stand up and say so, per se. It\u2019s not just New York City is going to get creamed; a lot of areas are going to get creamed. Now, some of you might be, ‘Rush, what do you mean, get creamed? What\u2019s wrong with apartment prices falling 23%?\u2019 Well, when the prices are falling because people\u2019s incomes are being stolen or limited by the federal government, remember, it\u2019s high-income people and their taxes that sustain the New York City welfare state which is above and beyond the federal welfare state. It\u2019s killing the goose. So you got New York City in big trouble, here comes the federal government to the rescue. <\/p>\n

All of this adds up to America in a horrible crisis, and Obama using his overwhelming popularity with his brain-dead supporters, can say, ‘Look, okay, it\u2019s my fault, I inherited this and here\u2019s the solution now. I inherited this. I apologize. Wasn\u2019t my problem, but I\u2019m the president, and I have to deal with it.\u2019 And the answer to all this is going to be more and more government. You say, ‘What\u2019s wrong with that?\u2019 Folks, it\u2019s freedom. What all this boils down to is individual liberty, and it is slowly being lost. And people are willingly, slowly turning it over. In some cases unknowingly, in other cases I guess they know, they\u2019re just willing to trade it for some security of some kind, economic or what have you. But it\u2019s right on you in front of everybody\u2019s nose, and not enough people see it. It\u2019s a full-fledged assault on the founding, a full-fledged assault on capitalism, and it\u2019s a full-fledged assault on prosperity, pure and simple. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
