RUSH: We have four sound bites. President Obama outside the White House, he was on the South Lawn, before getting on a helicopter heading over to Andrews Air Force Base to go out to California. We have put together a montage of the opening remarks that the teleprompter told him to say.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: People are rightly outraged about these particular bonuses. But just as outrageous is the culture that these bonuses are a symptom of, that have existed for far too long; a situation where excess greed, excess compensation, excess risk-taking have all made us vulnerable and left us holding the bag.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Stop the tape for just a second.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: I hope that — <\/p>\n

RUSH: Stop the tape! The teleprompter is running a little slow. The teleprompter is making the president sound a little hesitant here. He wants to go a little faster than the teleprompter is allowing him to.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: — Wall Street and the marketplace don\u2019t think that we can return to business as usual.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Stop the tape! Stop the tape. Did you hear that? ‘I hope that Wall Street and the marketplace don\u2019t think we can return to business as usual.\u2019 As you continue to listen to these sound bites the meaning of that is going to become clear. He is trying to make everybody believe business as usual is excess, is criminal activity, is excessive compensation, all of these things, bonuses and so forth. That\u2019s what we\u2019re not going to have. ‘We are going to destroy capitalism,\u2019 is how you translate this. ‘If Wall Street thinks we\u2019re going back to capitalism, they\u2019ve got another think coming.\u2019<\/p>\n

OBAMA: You know, the fact that these guys are, uh, looking for bonuses, having run down AIG, uh, asks — begs the question of, uh, ‘Why were they making that much beforehand, when nobody was criticizing them, everybody thought they knew what they were doing?\u2019<\/p>\n

RUSH: The people we are talking about here, Mr. Teleprompter, are the people who were asked to stay on to try to fix this. These are the people who everybody says, according… Not Geithner, not you. These are the people who can unwind all the tangled webs that exist in the place. This is outrageous. This is the president of the United States being told by his teleprompter to dump totally and falsely and erroneously and misleadingly, on the entire US capitalist system here. That\u2019s what you need to be hearing. That\u2019s why I said they love this at the first of the program today. This is not a distraction. This is ideal. While you\u2019re getting all revved up about $165 million in bonuses, they get to dump all over capitalism. They get to dump all over the principles of this country\u2019s founding, and they get to set themselves up as the saviors. In the next bite, the teleprompter tells the president that the buck stops with him.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: Well, eh, yuh, eh, eh, eh — Look. Eh, eh, rather than going to sort of the — the details of, uh, finding it out, ultimately I\u2019m responsible. I\u2019m the president of the United States.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Big whoop.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: We\u2019ve got a big mess that we\u2019re having to clean up. Uh, nobody here drafted those contracts. Uh, nobody here, uhhh, was responsible for supervising AIG and allowing themselves to put the economy at, uh, risk by some of the outrageous behavior that they were engaged in. Uh, we are responsible, though. The buck stops with me, aaand my goal is to make sure that we never put ourselves in this kind of position again.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019ll translate this for you. This is panic city. This is the president and his teleprompter trying to cover the fact and distort the fact that they knew about all this. They knew about this — and Obama, by the way, voted for this, and he acts like he gets to exempt himself from it. Nobody here drafted those contracts? Of course not! It\u2019s a private sector concern, for crying out loud. Of course they wouldn\u2019t draft the contracts. Nobody here was responsible for supervising AIG? The Treasury secretary was! Read the stupid TARP legislation. Am I the only one who knows this? The Treasury secretary, be it Paulson or Geithner, has sole authority over the money and how it\u2019s used. There was no accountability in the TARP legislation. There were no strings. It\u2019s up to the Treasury secretary, which means it\u2019s up to the executive branch — and that happens to be you and your teleprompter, sir! Good grief, folks. Nobody was responsible for supervising AIG? The hell you weren\u2019t! You own the company! You got your clowns and your court jesters out there saying you own 79 or 80% of it. In the next sound bite, the teleprompter tells Obama he likes outrage. He just wants to… If anything, if anything should cement in your mind that I am a prescient, brilliant serious thinker, what I said in the first segment of the first hour of this program, this next bite will do it.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: I don\u2019t want to quell anger. I think people are right to be angry. I\u2019m angry! What I want us to do, though, is channel our anger in a constructive way. It\u2019s very important to r-remind ourselves that there are a whole bunch of folks now who are feigning outrage about these bonuses, that a year ago or two years ago or three years ago said, ‘Well, we should never meddle in these compensation plans. These are the best and the brightest. They know what they\u2019re doing. That\u2019s part of the market,\u2019 and now suddenly they\u2019re outraged.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m close to being seriously outraged here, because there\u2019s two parts to this sound bite. The first part, ‘I don\u2019t want to quell anger. I think people have a right to be angry.\u2019 That\u2019s exactly right. He wants you mad. And he said, ‘I want to channel the anger.\u2019 Exactly. He wants to channel your anger at capitalism! He wants to channel your anger although CEOs and executives. He wants you mad. You\u2019re falling for it hook, line, and sinker. He wants you ticked off, exactly as I said in the opening segment. Snerdley came and said, ‘How long is this going to go on?\u2019 As long as they can use it to pound another nail in the coffin of capitalism, that\u2019s how long they\u2019ll go. He wants you mad, and you\u2019re just the perfect lemmings. Then he says, ‘We have to remind ourselves, a whole bunch of folks now who are feigning outrage about these bonuses, that a year ago, two years ago, three years ago, said, ‘Well, we should never meddle in these compensation plans.<\/p>\n

‘These are the best and the brightest. They know what they\u2019re doing.” What in the hell? That is unreal. Two to three years ago, people who are now feigning outrage? Who is he talking about? He\u2019s trying to dump on Republicans here, as though Republicans are feigning outrage, while at the same time it was Republicans three years ago opposing the federal government getting involved in compensation of the private sector. Those two are non sequiturs. It\u2019s standard operating procedure of capitalism: the federal government\u2019s got not a damn thing to do with private sector exception. Now, when the federal government gives money to a private sector concern, all bets are off, but until that time they\u2019ve got no business being there. And Obama wants to be in there, and this is giving him the opportunity to be in there, and now he gets to dump all over Bush and all over the Republicans, when the ‘best and the brightest\u2019 that are screwing things up royally are Barack Obama and his academic, egghead buds from the Ivy League throughout his administration. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: This is why I said all the way back on January 16th that I hope the president fails. He has singularly targeted and focused on destroying American capitalism, and I don\u2019t want that to succeed. I want that to fail. Big time. We have one more sound bite from the president\u2019s little press conference this afternoon on the South Lawn of the White House. The teleprompter in this bite told President Obama to compare Timothy Geithner to Alexander Hamilton.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: I have complete confidence, uh, in Tim Geithner and my entire economic team. Un-understand, as I said before, Tim Geithner didn\u2019t draft these contracts with AIG. There has never been a secretary of the Treasury, except maybe Alexander Hamilton right after the Revolutionary War, who\u2019s had to deal with the multiplicity of issues that Secretary Geithner\u2019s having to deal with, all at the same time. And, eh, eh, eh, you know, he is doing so with, uh, intelligence and diligence. Nobody\u2019s working harder than this guy.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, he\u2019s not getting anything done! He\u2019s a tax cheat, and he\u2019s not getting anything done, except further ruination. Now, Alexander Hamilton. This is a very deft move by the teleprompter to tell President Obama to compare Geithner to Alexander Hamilton. I am prepared for this one. The intellectual hero of Abraham Lincoln was Thomas Jefferson, and Thomas Jefferson lived at the same time as Alexander Hamilton, and they did not get along, at all. Would you like to hear what Thomas Jefferson thought of Alexander Hamilton, and thus by extension Timothy Geithner because the teleprompter just told Obama to say that Geithner is Hamilton. All right? <\/p>\n

From the book Thomas Jefferson by R. B. Bernstein, page 90: ‘Jefferson feared that Hamilton had plans radically at odds with the Constitution. As [Jefferson] saw it, Hamilton wanted to warp the federal government out of constitutional shape, converting it into a copy of the British government, built on debt, corruption, and influence. Hamilton\u2019s goal, Jefferson charged, was to ally the rich and well-born with the government at the people\u2019s expense, creating a corrupt aristocracy leagued with the government against the people and destroying the virtue that was the basis of republican government.\u2019 Now, we can argue — we can argue, ladies and gentlemen — about Jefferson\u2019s assessment of Alexander Hamilton. However, I wish to read this to you again, and I wish to say to you that Thomas Jefferson has just described the objectives of Barack Obama and the people he has brought into his administration. <\/p>\n

Listen to this again: ‘Jefferson feared that Hamilton had plans radically at odds with the Constitution.\u2019 Check. So does Obama. ‘As [Jefferson] saw it, Hamilton wanted to warp the federal government out of constitutional shape…\u2019 Check. So does Obama. That Hamilton wanted to convert the government ‘into a copy of the British government.\u2019 Check. In modern times, we would call this a western, socialist democracy that is the UK, that is ‘built on debt, corruption, and influence.\u2019 Check, check, check. Debt piled upon debt, created by Obama. Corruption? We got a tax cheat in the secretary of Treasury. We\u2019ve got lobbyists running all over the White House after Obama said there wouldn\u2019t be any there — and influence? We have Rahm Emanuel calling members of the media every morning to plan coverage of the Obama administration with the stenographers in the mainstream press. <\/p>\n

‘Hamilton\u2019s goal, Jefferson charged, was to ally the rich and well-born with the government at the people\u2019s expense…\u2019 Check. What is happening here is that every Ivy League egghead — be they Republican, Democrat, doesn\u2019t matter to me — every Ivy League from Yale to Harvard to Wharton, you name it, that\u2019s where you will find the best and the brightest. These are the people led by Robert McNamara that gave us the Vietnam War, the best and the brightest. These are the eggheads that I was talking about earlier this week on Monday, these intellectual eggheads who simply live to exist on and in government. They are the smartest people in the world. They\u2019re the elitists. They look with contempt at people who are not of their station and of their pedigree. These are the people whose destiny is government service, government power. <\/p>\n

These are the people who view government as an instrument for them to shape and form for their own benefit, while telling everybody else that actually they\u2019re working for the benefit of ordinary people. Check, check, check. Thomas Jefferson has accurately described exactly and precisely what the Obama administration and its elements are all about: ‘a corrupt aristocracy leagued with the government against the people and destroying the virtue that was the basis of republican government.\u2019 This is prescient. Thomas Jefferson is talking about Alexander Hamilton. We can argue, as I say, whether he was right about Hamilton. But since President Obama\u2019s teleprompter told him this afternoon to compare Timothy Geithner, the tax cheat Treasury secretary, to Alexander Hamilton, then it now fits what Thomas Jefferson feared Hamilton was doing is happening as part of the Obama administration.
