CALLER: Yeah, I\u2019m an African-American. I\u2019m a Trump supporter. I\u2019m gonna vote for him again, of course.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Well, it\u2019s great to have you here.<\/p>\n
CALLER: I\u2019m just so tired of this racist thing they\u2019re talking about. Everything is racist, and the biggest problem that the Democrat Party is doing and they\u2019re trying to tell black people what\u2019s racist. We know what\u2019s racist! We know! So stop trying to say that stuff is racist that\u2019s not, and you\u2019re trying to sell it to us as through it\u2019s racist. You know, and they\u2019re losing a lot of African-Americans because it\u2019s just over and over and over again. They\u2019re saying this is racist… Like I said, “I\u2019m 50 years old, I know racism, and what\u2019s going on lately is not.”<\/p>\n
RUSH: Tony, let me ask you… (crosstalk) Tony, let me ask you a question. You said you voted for Trump?<\/p>\n
CALLER: Yes, I did.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Did you…? When you voted for Trump, did you think you were voting for a racist or a white nationalist or supremacist?<\/p>\n
CALLER: No.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Of course not.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Nope, nope, and I still feel the same way, and I gotta be honest. The first time I voted for Obama, and then I started listening to your show, you and Sean Hannity. The reason why I started listening — I\u2019m gonna be honest — is people say, “Oh, this guy is racist. Rush is racist” and stuff. So I started listening. I said, “Let me see what they\u2019re talking about.” I started listening and I said, “Hold on! Wait a minute!” I said, “This is good.”<\/p>\n
RUSH: Well, I\u2019m glad to hear you say that, because in my estimation if anybody should be able to recognize racism it would be somebody like you —<\/p>\n
CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n
RUSH: — because I have no doubt you\u2019ve been victimized by it in your life.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Yes! Yes!<\/p>\n
RUSH: So you would know it when you see it, and now they\u2019re all trying to make you part of the crowd that thinks Trump is racist —<\/p>\n
CALLER: Yes!<\/p>\n
RUSH: — even though you voted for him.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Just like with the three congresswomen when he said, “Go back to where you\u2019re from.” I listened to the whole speech he said. That wasn\u2019t racist. They missed the whole message what he was saying. That\u2019s not racist what he said. And it\u2019s just… Now they\u2019re trying to rewrite racism. Here trying to tell me what\u2019s racism and what\u2019s not. I know what\u2019s racism! I\u2019m 50 years old. I\u2019ve been in this country my whole life.<\/p>\n
RUSH: You know what they\u2019ve done?<\/p>\n
CALLER: Don\u2019t go telling me what racism is!<\/p>\n
RUSH: They will have thrown the word, the label “racist” or “racism” around so damn much that they\u2019ve watered it down, and now everybody\u2019s a racist. So they\u2019ve had to double down on it with this “white supremacy” term and “white nationalist,” because racism doesn\u2019t quite carry the same impact that it used to because everybody\u2019s a racist now according to them. Even Cory Booker said it. “Trump is worse than a racist.” Well, what\u2019s that? Why, white nationalist! It\u2019s all made up. So this stuff is making you mad, too? Did you say that?<\/p>\n
CALLER: Yes, because not only that, I am dealing with my kids, my children. My children, they come home from school, and they say stuff, and they say, “Well, that\u2019s racist.” I say, “That\u2019s not racist!” “Well, they said it was racist.” “No, it\u2019s not racist. Stop! That\u2019s not racist.” I mean, it\u2019s like I gotta reprogram my kids to tell them what\u2019s racist and what\u2019s not racist! I don\u2019t want my kids running around thinking that everybody hates them, everybody\u2019s racist. Noooo!<\/p>\n
RUSH: Let me tell you something —<\/p>\n
CALLER: You know, you work hard, you do what you\u2019re supposed to do, and don\u2019t use racism as a crutch.<\/p>\n
RUSH: You have no… Well, no, you do. I\u2019m sure you do. I was gonna say, “You have no idea how important that is.” But if I were in your shoes, I would keep… I would make sure that my kids did not think everybody hates \u2019em like the Democrat Party wants them to think. That would be horrible! You\u2019re doing a great service for them by trying to remind them that not everybody hates \u2019em out there, and not everybody\u2019s looking at them the way the Democrats and the media are trying to make them think they are seen.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Exactly. (crosstalk)<\/p>\n

RUSH: ‘Cause it would be easy to fall back into it, if you ask me. It would be easy to fall into the fact, “Yeah, everybody hates me because of my race or my gender or what have you.” But you don\u2019t. You don\u2019t have to be doing that. That\u2019s a good thing that you\u2019re doing. I mean, you\u2019re grabbing your kids by the shoulder and you\u2019re trying to give \u2019em a dose of reality.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Exactly. You know what I mean? I don\u2019t want \u2019em using that as a crutch to not, you know, work hard. I mean, I know what one is and what\u2019s not. Just do what you\u2019re supposed to do. You know?<\/p>\n
RUSH: Well, I hear you. There\u2019s any number of things that I could say. I have this belief, Tony, that all of us face obstacles. The obstacles you face because of your race are things you can\u2019t do anything about. People that don\u2019t like you because of your skin color — and I still maintain that that\u2019s a dwindling number and has been dwindling for a long time in this country. But there\u2019s still nothing you can do about it. People hate me because I\u2019m a conservative — and believe me, I get discriminated against, and I get hate language.<\/p>\n
I get all of this stuff. But I can do something about it if I wanted to. I could become a liberal and end it. You can\u2019t. The person that is savagely laughed at and made fun of and discriminated against because they\u2019re overweight can try to do something about it. You can slim down. You can shed the pounds. But that\u2019s the point. The point is that we all face obstacles in life, and we all have ways around them. Yours are gonna be tougher than many and maybe most, but there are still ways.<\/p>\n
And you\u2019re doing a great thing with your kids there. Because nobody is raised to want to be hated. It\u2019s the exact opposite. We are all raised to want to be loved. Everybody\u2019s conditioned to do things to make people like you — to like them, like us — and when you (young people) hear that everybody hates you because of something you can\u2019t do anything about, that\u2019s not helping anything or anybody.
