RUSH: Tom Daschle, anybody else would be indicted. And by the way, this Obama business, I purposely didn\u2019t start with Obama so that the media wouldn\u2019t think I\u2019m obsessed with Obama. I started with me so they\u2019d think I\u2019m obsessed with me. But I\u2019m watching Obama up here — (laughing) — he actually said, ‘If we don\u2019t do this Porkulus bill, we are never going to recover, our economy is never going to recover.\u2019 That was an out-and-out lie. Fear and panic are setting in. This is the great unifier. This is the guy that was going to make love and happiness and contentment flow to each and every one, and they\u2019re just using fear and crisis to keep people on edge. This is not presidential what this guy is doing, the way he\u2019s acting, the things that he is saying, it is not presidential the way he\u2019s approaching the American people. Tom Daschle, you and I, we would be indicted. Here, listen to this. This is Daschle. We put together one of our classic montages here as Daschle excuses what he did while we found audio listing what he did.<\/p>\n

DASCHLE: The Obama administration has put a very high standard on public service. That\u2019s especially true when it comes to taxes.<\/p>\n

GARRETT: Failed to report $73,000 in 2005 — <\/p>\n

DASCHLE: — all my life I\u2019ve assiduously tried to pay my taxes — <\/p>\n

GARRETT: — $89,000 in 2006 — <\/p>\n

DASCHLE: — in full and on time.<\/p>\n

GARRETT: — $93,000 in 2007.<\/p>\n

DASCHLE: When I realized the mistake, I notified officials, and I paid the tax in full.<\/p>\n

GARRETT: — car and driver he was given by a close friend — <\/p>\n

DASCHLE: My failure to recognize that the use of a car was income and not a gift — <\/p>\n

GARRETT: — failed to report $83,000 in income.<\/p>\n

DASCHLE: — but that\u2019s no excuse.<\/p>\n

GARRETT: He\u2019s made more than $5 million in the private sector.<\/p>\n

DASCHLE: I deeply apologize to President Obama and to the American people.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You know what I think? I think Daschle knew about this all along, and we know that he knew about some of this last summer. I think he waited to see who won the election before deciding whether to pay this stuff off. And after Obama won, he knew he was going to have to pay some of this stuff off if he wanted to be in the Obama administration. If Obama had lost, we would never know, none of this would have ever come up. Remember, this is just like The Torch.<\/p>\n

TORRICELLI: To challenge my integrity is beneath contempt. I do not deserve this treatment.<\/p>\n

ATTORNEY: Two watches, a Rolex watch, diamond earrings for his girlfriend.<\/p>\n

TORRICELLI: I have never — <\/p>\n

ATTORNEY: A television set.<\/p>\n

TORRICELLI: — ever — <\/p>\n

ATTORNEY: Oriental rug, grandfather clock, other antique items.<\/p>\n

TORRICELLI: — done anything — <\/p>\n

ATTORNEY: Suits.<\/p>\n

TORRICELLI: — at any time — <\/p>\n

ATTORNEY: Approximately 14 deliveries of envelopes of cash to Torricelli\u2019s house.<\/p>\n

TORRICELLI: — to betray the trust of the people of the state of New Jersey. Never!<\/p>\n
