CALLER: Thank you, Rush. Former Marine dittos from San Diego.<\/p>\n

RUSH: God bless you, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Thank you. I actually have a question for President Obama, and I\u2019m hoping you could answer it, and that\u2019s regarding his stance towards you and his foreign policy comments regarding now he\u2019s going to talk with Ahmadinejad, possibly to Chavez, possibly to Castro, possibly to who knows who else; and yet here the Drive-By Media has named you the leader of the GOP. Why won\u2019t he sit down and talk to you?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, he\u2019s trying to marginalize me, I think. I think he would like to distance me from what he thinks the Republican Party mainstream is. It\u2019s what he was trying to get these guys to do when he threw my name out last Friday. He was hoping a bunch of them would distance themselves from me. So I think he\u2019s just… It\u2019s no more complicated than that. It\u2019s politics. He\u2019s trying to marginalize me. He knows that the Republicans, prior to yesterday, had failed to exist, ceased to exist as we know them, had gone a little wobbly there in the spine. Now he knows differently. But, look, I am a guy on the radio, and I am not by any means an official leader of the Republican Party. I\u2019m a conservative. The official leaders of the Republican Party are fighting over who their ultimate leader is going to be (hint, hint: it\u2019s Sarah Palin) and right now, Obama wants to talk with the guys he thinks he could roll.<\/p>\n

CALLER: For me as a citizen, it just makes no sense.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, from his perspective it makes total sense to try to marginalize me. Hey, this is the big leagues! He wants to get done what he wants to get done. Up until yesterday, he didn\u2019t think the Republican Party had any gonads to stop him. He thought that I could. So he came after me to try to marginalize me. From his perspective, that makes total sense. I mean, when I wrote about this last Saturday afternoon, I said, ‘Who knows?\u2019 by the way, ‘Are conservative, ideological, and philosophical ties enough to keep Republicans in the House loyal to their voters?\u2019 and we found out yes, conservative is strong enough of a tie to keep those Republican conservatives unified behind their voters and with their votes. <\/p>\n

So it all worked out fabulously well. This is nothing to complain about. The letter to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, now, the mullahs\u2019 response to this… They haven\u2019t officially responded to the letter because I don\u2019t think a letter has actually gone out yet, but right before Obama was inaugurated, the leader of the so-called parliament in Iran said there aren\u2019t going to be any talks with the new president. We have preconditions. Obama has none; they have preconditions. The preconditions are that we get out of the Middle East and we renounce our support for the ‘evil Zionists,\u2019 which is Israel. I don\u2019t know what Obama\u2019s response is going to be, but we were told he was going to do this during the campaign. <\/p>\n

You shouldn\u2019t be surprised. He tried to say during the campaign later on, ‘Well, we\u2019re going to have some preconditions,\u2019 but we knew this was going to happen. Elections have consequences. Folks, this is going to be epic, and for those of you who are saying (and I\u2019m hearing more and more of you), ‘Rush, how can you possibly take next week off? Even though it\u2019s scheduled, how can you possibly take a vacation next week?\u2019 If I allow myself to be entrapped by that thinking, there will be no vacations for anybody for the next four years; \u2019cause I\u2019m telling you: These people have a plan to move this country as far left as fast as they can. They\u2019re going to do so relentlessly. Stopping them is going to be, or arguing with them is going to be a daily proposition — and under that thinking, I\u2019m never going to get outta here, and I\u2019m going to get outta here now and then. Everybody has to get outta here.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: We\u2019ll go to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, not far from where Brett Favre! Brett Favre! Brett Favre! lives. Jay, welcome to the program.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hey. Mega dittos, Rush, from those of us who discovered you from your TV show. I just had one quick question. Once we pass this stimulus bill, with the use of baseline budgeting are we ever going to be able to cut back to previous levels, or would that be called a cut?<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s an excellent question, because this is really just a spending bill with a 30% increase. It\u2019s not a stimulus. No, the budget\u2019s not going to get ‘cut.\u2019 It will be annual deficits of at least a trillion, a trillion.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right. It will become part of the budget, and if you ever try to take any little part of it away, oh, it\u2019ll be Draconian cuts. Am I wrong?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, they\u2019ll never cut. Budgets never get cut.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Sometimes, you know, a small, insignificant item might be eliminated, but it\u2019s replaced with something that costs more. But never in my lifetime — and you\u2019re right. Never in my lifetime, Jay, have I seen the annual budget smaller than it was the prior year. It just happened. And he\u2019s right, every year nevertheless we kept hearing about these Draconian cuts, the school lunch program and all that rotgut lying sack of you-know-what that the Democrats tried back in 1995, but that is an important consideration. Now you\u2019ve added to the budget by this much, it\u2019s just what is, baseline budgeting affected by this, what we\u2019re spending on this program and that program. This is… This is… (sigh) My friends, we\u2019re celebrating what the Republicans did, but we lost. The bill passed. The bill with all this pork passed the Senate. The Senate can hold this up with some procedural things, but it passed. <\/p>\n

Tax credits of $500 to $1,000 for illegal aliens passed. It\u2019s in there. We can\u2019t stop this. It is going to happen. The Senate is gonna pass this, too. We can\u2019t stop it. The only way — and it\u2019s remote — is to somehow get to enough Democrats that they can\u2019t get to 60 votes in the Senate and plug away at the fact that this is just morally wrong. Everything in this is morally wrong. It\u2019s morally wrong to spread this as a stimulus and a job creator, when it\u2019s a job killer. It\u2019s morally wrong for the media to not even care about this and not tell people what\u2019s in it. It is morally wrong. That\u2019s the only way I can see to attack this in the Senate. But the odds are it\u2019s going to pass. What we\u2019re doing here is setting the table to win seats back in 2010 and the White House in 2012 after all this overreaching takes place. We\u2019ve also gotta make sure that this is the worst of it, because if you win in 2010 but we got national health care, how do you roll it back? So it\u2019s crucial.
