RUSH: Thank you, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And happy birthday. I have a question about, can the Republican Party and the House just walk off the floor, stay in their offices, write policy, and answer phone calls and blame everything on Democrats?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, sure. Basically you want them to adopt the Democrat strategy of blaming everything on Democrats, blaming everything on Obama, but it isn\u2019t going to happen, at least not right off the bat. It\u2019s not in the Republicans\u2019 DNA to do that, plus they\u2019re paranoid of any criticism of Obama now being construed as racism and not giving him a chance. The Republican Party mantra is ‘we hope he succeeds.\u2019 Now, this program is not the Republican Party. And, frankly, given the way I\u2019ve seen his plans and heard him talk, I don\u2019t want him to succeed, folks. I don\u2019t want socialism in this country. I don\u2019t want nationalized health care. I don\u2019t want the government owning the auto business. I don\u2019t want any of this. I don\u2019t want tax increases, folks. It\u2019s not going to fix anything. I don\u2019t want this to work. But the Republican Party is saying they hope he succeeds. <\/p>\n

As I mentioned to you on Friday, the Senate Republicans had a retreat, and they all came out of it demoralized. They were told, ‘Do not be confrontational, be moderate, and remember the plight of Northeastern Republicans.\u2019 Meaning, we gotta make sure the Northeastern liberals keep getting reelected. So don\u2019t expect the Republicans to start complaining about anything. And when they do, if they do, they will not have given themselves a foundation of credibility to do it. They think they\u2019re doing that, by offering support and assistance and hopes for success. At some point if they fall off the wagon, ‘Yeah, we wanted this to work, but we just don\u2019t think it\u2019s gonna work.\u2019 ‘Well, you never did think it was gonna work.\u2019 It\u2019s amazing how ignorant and tone deaf they can be. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you very much.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019ve been told I have a minute, so here goes. I called last September just as the financial crisis was coming to the fore to say that I thought what we had was a crisis of confidence in government. Rush, now I believe that our government is trying to create a crisis of confidence in ourselves, the American people. Obama said only government can get us out of this mess. Well, Rush, I\u2019m an inventor and an entrepreneur, and I can bring back the economy. I invented a dog ramp, and I even have it manufactured right here in the good old USA in Somerset, Wisconsin, so I\u2019m full of confidence.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You are dead-on right about this, creating a crisis mentality, but it\u2019s not just Obama who is doing it. The media has been attempting to do this against the war in Iraq, supposedly we\u2019re in a recession for five years, and it\u2019s finally paid off for them. <\/p>\n

CALLER: I just have a couple little quick things to say. I was watching the George H.W. Bush decommission yesterday, and I just wanted to tell our wonderful President Bush how much he is going to be missed and how much we appreciate you, Rush, and how much we have appreciated him these years. I know it\u2019s been tough. And also, to tell Senator Martinez, yes, this is the same Cynthia that e-mails you every week. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I don\u2019t know that Senator Martinez is a regular listener of this program. <\/p>\n

CALLER: I thought it was kind of funny. I find it humorous.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I meant to talk about something today, and I\u2019m making a note I\u2019ll talk about it tomorrow. The president has advised the Republican Party, look, immigration, I don\u2019t want to tell people we\u2019re against immigrants, we don\u2019t want people think we\u2019re against them and so forth, and, you know, it\u2019s sad what\u2019s happened to the whole concept of freedom, and even the Republican Party is falling prey to this, that freedom is something that\u2019s extended to groups of victims, and that misses the entire conservative message.
