CALLER:\u00a0 I listened to you for 20 years, and you\u2019ve always said if we could just get a candidate who talked about conservatism — you know, ideology, values, moral values — and just spoke the conservative message, we would show up and we would turn out.\u00a0 I think last night — and you\u2019re spot on. Last night in Orlando, they showed up and they showed up big.\u00a0 I\u2019m telling you: We were in Tampa and listening to it, and people are jazzed, and they may not have thought Trump was the ticket at first. But he\u2019s the real deal and the conservative message is coming through.\u00a0 I just think, you know, you pegged it years ago, and you\u2019ve said it and you\u2019ve said it and you\u2019ve lamented that we\u2019ve had other Republicans who just never were 100%. Finally, we\u2019ve got somebody who\u2019s got our backs.<\/p>\n
RUSH:\u00a0 You know, you are exactly right, and this is why I have to hold on to the “almost always right” 99.8% of the time because I\u2019ve forgotten this.\u00a0 You\u2019re absolutely right.\u00a0 I remember what I said.\u00a0 Conservatism works every time it\u2019s tried.\u00a0 If we just put somebody up there who\u2019s got the guts to be conservative and not water it down the way the Washington establishment wants it watered down, it\u2019ll work.\u00a0 It works everywhere it\u2019s implemented.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 The great thing is about… This is what so irritates the Never Trumpers.\u00a0 Trump himself is not a lifelong conservative activist like they are.\u00a0 He\u2019s not been writing research papers, he\u2019s not been studying the intricacies of Edmund Burke, and he couldn\u2019t tell you who Friedrich Hayek is.\u00a0 But his instincts are as conservative when it comes to implementation and design of policy, as any president we\u2019ve had since Ronaldus Magnus.\u00a0 He\u2019s showing that we don\u2019t need all these intellectuals to try to influence members of Congress.<\/p>\n

We just need somebody who is a real person — and that\u2019s Trump\u2019s beauty.\u00a0 Make America great, to him, is as sensible as anything else in life.\u00a0 There\u2019s nothing wrong with make America great.\u00a0 I\u2019m glad they held onto the slogan because the Democrats are gonna oppose it.\u00a0 What could be better for Trump than having the Democrats oppose the whole concept of making America great again or keeping it great?\u00a0 But you have rounded me of something that\u2019s absolutely true.\u00a0 I had forgotten it in the express, specific terms you mentioned it.\u00a0 So thank you.\u00a0 You\u2019re exactly right.<\/p>\n
