I wanted to comment about the notion of appointing an outsider as a car czar, and that is that the person that was at the helm of General Motors prior to Rick Wagoner was a man by the name of Ron Zarella that had come to General Motors from Bausch &amp;amp; Lomb and had no automotive experience.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Bausch &amp;amp; Lomb, the lens people, let you see clearly.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Yes. And so based on his track record if anybody thinks that an outsider can be a car czar and help the auto industry, I have two words for you: Pontiac Aztec.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: (laughing) You people are killing me here. Pontiac. Were you on the Pontiac Aztec design team and got fired or something? (laughing)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/01125109.Par.89380.ImageFile_579144d631843.jpg\" width=\"299\" height=\"193\" class=\"alignright\"\/>CALLER: No. No. But I was at the Detroit Auto Show the year that they revealed the production version of that vehicle, and at the same time they showed the, quote, unquote, &#8216;prototype\u2019 for the Pontiac Vibe, which is a smaller car.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Yeah, we\u2019ve driven the Vibe.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: And the Vibe, I\u2019m sitting there looking at this thing, standing on one side of the aisle looking at the Vibe, thinking, &#8216;That\u2019s a really cool looking car.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: And then turning over and looking at the other side of the aisle and going, &#8216;Who came up with that idea?\u2019<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: And that\u2019s the Bausch &amp;amp; Lomb guy that can see clearly now?<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Yes, sir.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Okay. Doug, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, thanks much for the phone call. A lot of people ask me, &#8216;Rush, why is Bush is insistent that he appoint the car czar? Why is Bush wanting to do this? Why is Bush pushing this bailout?\u2019 I don\u2019t know, ladies and gentlemen, but I could hazard a wild guess, like the journalists do today.
