RUSH: So TheHill.com ran a story recently based on a new survey from Harvard-Harris, and I want to share with you the headline of their story. “Nearly Half of Americans Say Supreme Court Should Uphold Roe v. Wade.<\/a>” That was their headline. That\u2019s not the news. That is not the news. The news in this poll — and again, it\u2019s Harvard\/Harris. The Harvard poll is Mark Penn, Harris is Harris, and these are… I mean, Mark Penn is the former Clinton pollster from back in the nineties, meaning he\u2019s fully accredited.<\/p>\n

The news here is that a majority of Americans want Roe v. Wade modified or overturned, and it\u2019s the first time that a poll has returned this kind of information. But the headline… It\u2019s just like these iTunes stories that Snerdley came in here breathlessly asking me about before the program began. (impression) “Is Apple getting rid of iTunes? I can\u2019t…” No, they\u2019re not getting rid of iTunes, and they\u2019re certainly not getting rid of what iTunes does! They can\u2019t! More on that in a mere moment. This is the same story. “Nearly Half of Americans Say Supreme Court Should Uphold Roe v. Wade.”<\/p>\n

Well, that\u2019s obviously from the perspective of the pro-abort crowd who are getting as scared as they can be. “Nearly half of Americans surveyed in a Harvard CAPS\/Harris poll released exclusively to The Hill say the Supreme Court should affirm the constitutional right to abortion…” This used to be 70-30! “Forty-six percent of respondents said the high court should uphold the ruling … 36% said the Supreme Court should modify the 46-year-old ruling. Eighteen percent wanted the ruling to be overturned altogether.”<\/p>\n

So 54% want Roe v. Wade “Modified” or “overturned.” Only 46% say the Supreme Court should uphold it. Now, the headline is not wrong. It just doesn\u2019t tell you the story — and let\u2019s be honest: Most people only read the headline. “But 49% expected that the Supreme Court would ultimately move to modify its position on abortion rights. … A plurality — 41% — said the procedure should be allowed only in cases of rape or incest.” Do you belive this? That number is falling incredibly. The bottom line here is that public attitudes on abortion are shifting like mad, and the news stories accompanying this are not portraying it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
