RUSH: John in New York, in New York City.\u00a0 Great to have you, sir.\u00a0 Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 Hey, Rush.\u00a0 It\u2019s an honor to speak with you.\u00a0 Thanks so much for taking my call.\u00a0 You know, I have a slightly different take on the Mueller press conference than you do.\u00a0 You know, obviously I\u2019m upset. But when you look at what he said about Trump and about his actions, it was, like, literally verbatim, as if he was reading from his own Mueller report, from the executive summary.\u00a0 So, you know, he didn\u2019t really say anything at all that was new in that regard.\u00a0 Literally, it was just… It was like he was rereading from the report.<\/p>\n

\"\"The few things that were new was that it seemed to me he was emphasizing that our focus should be on the fact that, you know, Russia was interfering in our election. Two, that, you know, there was one point where he said that he thought Barr was acting in good faith with respect to whether or not to release the report.\u00a0 And then he said he\u2019s really not gonna testify and that he\u2019s closing the investigation.\u00a0 So, to me, there was really nothing new.\u00a0 Everything was verbatim from the report other than the fact that he seemed to be indicating we should be focusing on the fact that Russia was trying to interfere with us rather than fighting amongst ourselves —<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 Well, see, you\u2019re making one fatal mistake here.\u00a0 You\u2019re assessing this on a factual basis, and you\u2019re absolutely right, and I made this point in the first half hour.\u00a0 Mueller made it plain that the report is it.\u00a0 To me (I even said this), that\u2019s the bombshell.\u00a0 The bombshell is that there isn\u2019t anything that\u2019s not in the report.\u00a0 The media\/Democrats have long been telling people that Mueller has something else, that Barr\u2019s covering it up, that Barr\u2019s not letting him say it, and that\u2019s why they want Mueller to come up and testify.<\/p>\n

This is what we\u2019ve had to put up with for three weeks now.\u00a0 So Mueller goes out there and says, “The report\u2019s it.\u00a0 There isn\u2019t anything else, and I\u2019m not testifying to anything other than what\u2019s in the report. I\u2019m not testifying, period, and that\u2019s it.”\u00a0 But you\u2019re missing something key.\u00a0 In a sterile, purely unbiased atmosphere, your assessment of it is right on the money.\u00a0 “There\u2019s nothing new here.\u00a0 There\u2019s no collusion and there\u2019s no obstruction and there\u2019s nothing I have to add, and I\u2019m not testifying.”<\/p>\n

That\u2019s the bombshell, and the White House statement that calls attention to all this is right on the money.\u00a0 But Mueller then went on and explained that the reason Trump isn\u2019t indicted in anything is because of Justice Department guidelines.\u00a0 Mueller clearly implied to the people who want to hear it this way, that they might have had something on Trump, but it wouldn\u2019t have mattered \u2019cause they couldn\u2019t indict him.\u00a0 Their hands were tied — which is why I\u2019ve been saying, “Then why do this?”<\/p>\n

Because his excuse has been from the get-go, it turns out, that they couldn\u2019t indict a sitting president. So what the point all this was, we don\u2019t know.\u00a0 Well, we do know.\u00a0 It was to get Trump.\u00a0 That puts him at odds.\u00a0 I just… During the break I turned on a cable news station, and that\u2019s all they\u2019re talking about.\u00a0 “Did Barr lie?\u00a0 Did Barr lie when he said that Mueller told him the Office of Legal Counsel guidelines were not a factor in his decision not to charge Trump?”<\/p>\n

Because Barr\u2019s been out there many times saying that Mueller told him the legal counsel guidelines had nothing to do with his decision.\u00a0 Mueller said something totally opposite today.\u00a0 Mueller made it clear that Barr is lying.\u00a0 He wanted people to assume that Barr is lying, and that\u2019s what the media is going to say. I guarantee you these guys want Barr to be the one lying.\u00a0 They want Barr to be the one that\u2019s trying to cover up for Trump.\u00a0 So Mueller goes out and says something totally different than what Barr\u2019s been saying, and then Mueller says, “I\u2019m not going to say any more.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m not talking.\u00a0 I\u2019m not testifying.\u00a0 You can\u2019t make me.”\u00a0 So what he says today is the last word.\u00a0 So now it\u2019s just Barr — and Barr\u2019s in Alaska.\u00a0 So, yeah, in a sterile world, you\u2019re exactly right.\u00a0 There\u2019s nothing new here.\u00a0 There was no collusion, Trump didn\u2019t do it, and there wasn\u2019t any evidence on obstruction.\u00a0 But you turn on any cable news network station you want out there, John, and that\u2019s not what they\u2019re talking about, and that\u2019s not what they\u2019re saying, and that\u2019s not how they\u2019re interpreting this in any way, shape, or form.\u00a0 And there\u2019s one reason:\u00a0 Bob Mueller wants them to cover it the way they are.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
