RUSH: I was doing Show Prep last night and I came across so many stories that made me think, ‘They\u2019re spoofs. They gotta be spoofs. I\u2019m not reading this. This cannot be a real news story.\u2019 With so many Internet sites out there now doing spoofs, I said, ‘I wonder if I\u2019m getting scammed here,\u2019 and this one turned out to be real. It\u2019s from the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. The Florida governor ‘Charlie Crist said Monday he is exploring a holiday-season moratorium on home foreclosures in Florida, a move similar to a 90-day foreclosure ban sought in California by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger earlier this month. ‘I think it would be a good thing to be able to do,\u2019 Crist told reporters at the Capitol in Tallahassee. <\/p>\n

‘I want to work with the banking industry and do it in a way that\u2019s not harmful to them. We want them to continue to succeed, to continue to loan money. But we want to stop foreclosures…” Now, can you understand why I thought that was a spoof? ‘We want them to continue to succeed.\u2019 We want the banks to continue to succeed, and we want \u2019em to loan money, but we don\u2019t want to have foreclosures. (pause) Excuse me, I — I… Governor Crist is a Republican. Uhhh, ‘We want the banks to succeed,\u2019 we want the banks ‘to continue to loan money, but we want to stop foreclosures, especially during the holidays.\u2019 Uh… O-kay. I don\u2019t know how you do this. I really don\u2019t know how you have the banking industry succeed, have you them continue to loan money but then not foreclose on the people who don\u2019t pay \u2019em back. <\/p>\n

I don\u2019t know how you do that. ‘In California, Schwarzenegger asked lawmakers to enact the 90-day stay on home foreclosures similar to what President-elect Barack Obama proposed at the federal level.\u2019 Federal level? Ummm. Both these guys love John McCain, too, Crist and Governor Schwarzenegger. I\u2019m sorry, folks, I\u2019m speechless. I genuinely am speechless. These are Republicans talking about this! You know, I\u2019m reading this, and I fight the urge to burst out laughing. I say, ‘It\u2019s gotta be a spoof.\u2019 This is something a liberal would say! ‘Well, we love the banks. We want the banks to keep lending money, and we want \u2019em to make money, and we don\u2019t want them to foreclose on anybody, especially during the holidays.\u2019 Oh, okay! Good.
