I don\u2019t know about you, but one of the things that I just can\u2019t stand in life is people that make noise when they eat. I just can\u2019t stand it. (sigh) I have to look away. I\u2019m really helped in this by the fact that I can\u2019t hear as well I used to. I\u2019m not complaining, observing. (interruption) No. Complaining, I\u2019d be asking for something to do something about it. I\u2019m not asking anybody to do anything about it. I\u2019m just sharing with you here that I just&#8230; I can\u2019t stand it. I can\u2019t stand the noise that people make when they eat, when they eat loud.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-309423\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/NADLER-GIF-051619.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I can\u2019t stand when people eat (impression) with their mouths open. I can\u2019t stand it when people talk when they\u2019re eating. Just swallow, will you, and finish what you want to say! I didn\u2019t want to get up and leave the table. I cannot handle it. Now, you couple that with one of the best-known rules in all of politics: You do not ever let yourself be seen eating. You never do it. When you go meet Al Sharpton at Sylvia\u2019s up in Harlem, you sit there and you don\u2019t eat. Caroline Kennedy blew it by eating when she was up there. Somebody else just went up there to meet Reverend Sharpton, and they started&#8230; (interruption) Was it Mayor Pete?<\/p>\n<p>Was it Mayor Pete that was eating? I thought it was somebody else. Was it Mayor Pete who asked how you eat the chicken? Pick it up with your hands? (interruption) Could he use his fingers? Okay. Well, there\u2019s somebody knows how. So I guess it was a legitimate question. But, at any rate, wait \u2019til you hear what we have here. Jerry Nadler appeared on a video podcast interview with John Harwood. John Harwood\u2019s one of the biggest anti-Trumpers out there in the mainstream media. New York Times. Wall Street Journal.<\/p>\n<p>The guy is a profound, prototypical elitist, and he\u2019s interviewing Nadler. Now, Nadler is chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, or I think it\u2019s&#8230; I get the committees confused. (interruption) Judiciary? Yeah. Nadler used to be grotesquely overweight. I mean, look, there\u2019s no reason to deny this. Nadler used to weigh, what, 600 pounds, 500 pounds? Well, I mean, he weighed a lot. He had to get some kind of surgery. (interruption) Is it lap band? Is that what he got?<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-309623\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/APP-051719-Nadler-1995-B.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/APP-051719-Nadler-1995-B.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/APP-051719-Nadler-1995-B-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/>Kind of like Rex Ryan. Rex Ryan just took his out after a while. (laughing) I guess you\u2019ve got&#8230; I don\u2019t know about this lap band stuff, but I guess there\u2019s a dial that you can turn to tighten it or loosen it yourself. Anyway, Nadler lost a bunch of weight and has kept it off. I cannot believe what I heard. I saw this. I actually saw the video. I just want you to hear this. This is Jerry Nadler being interviewed in a New York City restaurant Speakeasy with John Harwood is the podcast. We put together a montage just&#8230; I can\u2019t believe Nadler did this. I cannot believe somebody in politics would actually do this. Listen&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JPQd93GiCPA\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>NADLER: (restaurant noise) (lips smack) It\u2019s&#8230; I mean, the right&#8230; (chewing) Ummm&#8230; (lips smack) Uh&#8230; (smacking lips) (unintelligible) That\u2019s right. (lips smack) But, you know, we fought a &#8212; a &#8212; a Revolutionary War over that. (lips smack) It affects people\u2019s lives ultimately. (lips smack) And, in fact, (lips smack) he may be&#8230; (lips smack) If he is destroying (lips smack) all the norms. (lips smack) and (lips smack) it\u2019s a very different crisis. (lips smack) I think so. (lips smack) I mean, we have to hold hearings (lips smack) and not just on, (lips smack) you know, collusion with the &#8212; the Russians. (chewing) I believe that. (lips smack) I do believe that. (glasses clink) (lips smack) Donald Trump is a con man. (lips smack) He lies all the time. (lips smack) (swallows) Say, it\u2019s down the road. I do. (glasses clink) (lips smack) Nixon (lips smack) never (chewing\/swallows) never&#8230; (lips smack) &#8230;to the separation of powers. (lips smack) (glasses clink) I think that\u2019s nonsense. (lips smack)<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: It just drove me crazy looking at this! I couldn\u2019t take my eyes off of it. I could not believe this was happening, and you should see it. Harwood is sitting there; they both have plates of food in front of them. Harwood? Eh, he doesn\u2019t eat much. Nadler is ripping bread apart, clicking the plate with the fork, taking the glass, slurping whatever is in the glass. Now, that\u2019s a montage, but that was pretty typical. We didn\u2019t really exaggerate anything there.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-309427\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/NADLER-GIF-051619-003.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve never seen anything like it, other than in a movie when it\u2019s part of the script. (Groan!) It just drove me crazy. Of course, I was watching Nadler do it. Since I wasn\u2019t actually there, it became entertainment. But had I been there, it would have driven me crazy. I would have had to get up and leave that table. I cannot&#8230; I just cannot deal with it, and I think one of the reasons why is because how rude must somebody be to make that kind of noise when they\u2019re eating and be unaware of it. So I think in addition to being irritating, it\u2019s insulting as it can be.<\/p>\n<p>Now, Nadler is out telling any microphone he can find that Trump is acting like a tyrant and a dictator.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-309425\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/NADLER-GIF-051619-002.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>NADLER: My response is that the White House and the Department of Justice is enabling the White House to try to evade all accountability to the American people. They\u2019re saying that the president is above the law. They\u2019re saying that the American people have no right to do this. They\u2019re saying, in effect, the president is a tyrant and a dictator with no limit on his power. What they\u2019re doing would make the president a tyrant in the sense of not being accountable to the American people, not being answerable to Congress, and that no one can hold him accountable &#8212; and that is simply up American and we cannot abide it.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: This is all so bogus. Can\u2019t hold Trump accountable? He just underwent&#8230; How many years has this been? They\u2019ve been try to get Trump thrown out of office since 2016 if not earlier. It\u2019s 2019. Let\u2019s call this three years. There has been almost a two-year Mueller investigation where people associated with Trump tangentially have been ruined, have been wiped out, have been destroyed. It was a purposeful effort to drive Trump out of office, to overturn the election results &#8212; and Trump did not obstruct it.<\/p>\n<p>He sent his White House counsel for 30 hours of interviews with the special counsel and his team. He turned over a million documents. What is this Nadler saying that the president\u2019s acting unaccountable? What they\u2019re saying is that the House Judiciary Committee <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/no-do-over-on-mueller-probe-white-house-lawyer-tells-house-panel-saying-demands-for-records-staff-testimony-will-be-refused\/2019\/05\/15\/1ad19728-7715-11e9-b3f5-5673edf2d127_story.html?noredirect=on\">has no right to a do-over<\/a> of the special counsel investigation of President Trump. And that\u2019s why they\u2019re refusing these broad demands for records and testimony from all kinds of people on the White House staff. &#8220;White House counsel Pat Cipollone\u2019s letter to [Nadler] constitutes a sweeping rejection &#8212; not just of Nadler\u2019s request for White House records but of Congress\u2019s standing to investigate Trump for possible obstruction of justice.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-309420\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/APP-051619-CNBC-Nadler-005.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/APP-051619-CNBC-Nadler-005.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/APP-051619-CNBC-Nadler-005-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In his letter, Cipollone repeated a claim the White House and Trump\u2019s business have begun making &#8212; that Congress is not a law enforcement body and does not have a legitimate purpose to investigate the questions it is pursuing.&#8221; But more than that, they don\u2019t get a do-over, and this is not a claim invented by Trump. It\u2019s as old as the Constitution. Congress is not the executive branch where the prosecutions begin, and it\u2019s not the judiciary where prosecutions are decided.<\/p>\n<p>The House of Representatives is not supposed to be 435 prosecutors or special counsels. But the argument that they don\u2019t get a do-over is all they need to hear. But it\u2019s also all they\u2019ve got. In a political sense, it\u2019s amazing to watch the Democrat Party deteriorate here, to flail about, to end up on the defensive totally while thinking they\u2019re on the offense.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RUSH: You&#039;ve gotta hear something.
