<\/p>\nRUSH: Yes, my friends, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has rebuffed all of the fact-checkers out there. She came out, as you might remember, and compared climate change to World War II. (summarized) “We only have 12 years to stop Hitler! We only have 12 years to stop the Nazis from taking over the world!” In this case, climate change is Hitler (aside from Trump), and the Nazis are all of the things that we are doing to destroy the planet. Twelve years. We had 12 years.<\/p>\n

Well, the fact-checkers got in gear. (Not the liberal fact-checkers. The Drive-By Media dutifully reported it or dutifully was sympathetic to it.) So some people started fact-checking this and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was kind of caught short. She didn\u2019t expect that. Cortez is used to saying things and having friendly media bow down and simply report it — but, more importantly, not challenge her. Well, this got her challenged because even people who believe full-fledged in man-made global warming don\u2019t think it\u2019s gonna happen that soon.<\/p>\n
They think it\u2019s gonna happen, but not in 12 years. Many of them still think it\u2019s gonna happen after they die. “Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez complained Sunday that GOP fact-checkers were taking her ‘dry humor\u2019 literally. ‘This is a technique of the GOP, to take dry humor + sarcasm literally and “fact check” it,\u2019 she tweeted. ‘Like the “world ending in 12 years” thing, you\u2019d have to have the social intelligence of a sea sponge to think it\u2019s literal. But the GOP is basically Dwight from The Office so who knows.\u2019<\/p>\n
“And when Ocasio-Cortez first made the claim, she certainly appeared to be playing up the absurdity of the statement for effect. But those responsible for the 2018 UN report on climate change \u2014 from which Ocasio-Cortez drew her \u201912 years left\u2019 conclusion \u2014 did not consider their work to be an attempt at ‘dry humor,'” and that\u2019s where she got it! It\u2019s our old buddies at the U.N. making this prediction. Now, I think Cortez has it exactly backwards. It\u2019s not us that don\u2019t get satire and parody. We do satire and parody. We own satire and parody here at the EIB Network.<\/p>\n
Remember the entire city of Washington went on a three-year witch hunt based on a joke Donald Trump told. He was in Miami and he said, “Hey, Russia, maybe you could find the missing 30,000 Hillary emails. Hey, our media are the looking for them. If you can find them, I\u2019m sure they\u2019d love to have them.” That\u2019s even in the Mueller report as an example of Trump perhaps obstructing justice. That\u2019s in the Mueller report as something that Mueller said he considered when determining whether or not to say Trump colluded with Russia.<\/p>\n
So don\u2019t tell me about people that don\u2019t get humor. Don\u2019t talk to me about people that don\u2019t understand dry humor and sarcasm. We get it, AOC. When things are funny, we get it. But you wouldn\u2019t know funny if it bit you on your pretty little nose. This is the bottom line. These people are the ones that do not have a sense of humor. Look at all the late-night comedy shows that aren\u2019t comedy anymore. Look at all the shows! Late-night comedy is hate applause lines.<\/p>\n
“The tweet pinned to the top of Ocasio-Cortez\u2019s Twitter profile … again cites the 12-year deadline along with a video showing how the world could progress if people would only heed such warnings and take them seriously,” and yet she claims that it was just dry humor and people don\u2019t get it. She didn\u2019t really mean it. Well, she did. She meant it to be taken seriously. She meant it to be received exactly as it was. But they be the question to ask is:<\/p>\n

“Okay. If her little thing could be blown up this quickly, 12 years — we\u2019ve only got 12 years — what about 20? Do we have 20 years? Do we have 25? Somebody could be 30. Do we have 30 years? At what point do we pass the point of no return?” They want you to think that we already have. The fact that this backfired is probably… One of the best things about this backfiring is that it indicates, as far as public opinion is concerned, that Cortez bombed big time in persuading people of the urgency and seriousness of this, which is always good to know.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, thank you very much, Rush. I had an epiphany while I was reading your April Limbaugh Letter.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Oh, yes.<\/p>\n
CALLER: It was about the potatoes and that they aren\u2019t growing to the right size because of the climate. The epiphany was, “Well, how do people plan it so that the potato is gonna be the right size? The climate change people, do they think that they can control the weather by controlling the people so that the potato or whatever it is grows to the right size?” There\u2019s just so many loopholes in what they\u2019re talking about. Are they trying to be God or be like God so that they can control the weather? What do people need to do for them to control the weather? Well, obviously whatever people do, it\u2019s still not gonna control the weather. If we stop running water, it\u2019s not gonna be less humid.<\/p>\n
RUSH: See, this is where it gets into it, because the climate people will tell you, “Weather and climate are two totally different things. You can\u2019t compare the two and one does not indicate anything in the other.” Except when it\u2019s hot in August they\u2019ll say, “See! See! It\u2019s getting warmer out there!”<\/p>\n
CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n
RUSH: When it is 40 degrees in June somewhere, “No, no, no, no. That has nothing to do with climate. That doesn\u2019t mean anything!” They\u2019re just a bunch of… The answer to your question is that the people you\u2019re talking about here would actually. In their minds, they already have replaced God.<\/p>\n
CALLER: That\u2019s correct.<\/p>\n
RUSH: To believe in man-made climate change — I mean, to really believe in man-made climate change — you really have to have a strange, almost absent opinion of the existence and complexity and power of God. The two cannot possibly go together, and I find the vanity of human beings is incredible. On the one hand, you listen to the animal rights people in their day and we\u2019re no different than a rat, we\u2019re no different than a gnat or whatever.<\/p>\n
And then another day, we have so much power that we are destroying the planet, that we could not have created. We are destroying a climate we could not have created — and yet there\u2019s not a single bit of evidence that we can affect anything in the climate or the weather. The story on the potato size was to illustrate how ridiculous this is all getting.<\/p>\n

RUSH: But the idea that going without hot dogs one day in New York is gonna have some indication or some assistance or some meaning, some impact on the climate? It\u2019s just insane. But this is how they do think. You have to understand, there\u2019s the leadership and the rank-and-file. The rank-and-file are decent Americans who really believe that we\u2019re destroy the planet, and they don\u2019t want to. RUSH: No, and I don\u2019t think she does, either. I think this is an effort to turn down the temperature on what she said. You know, the thing about leftists… I sometimes — I actually do, folks. I sit around and ask myself, “What would it be like for me if I were a leftist?” Everything else is the same. I\u2019ve got a radio show. It wouldn\u2019t be near as popular; I understand this.
