(paraphrased) &#8220;Yeah, yeah. You know, Jerry\u2019s from Manhattan.\u00a0 I know Jerry.\u00a0 Jerry and I go way back.\u00a0 Jerry\u2019s never beaten me in anything.\u00a0 Jerry tried to stop me building this building.\u00a0 He tried to stop me building that sewer.\u00a0 He tried to stop me building that casino.\u00a0 He tried to stop my buses to the casino.\u00a0 Jerry\u2019s never beaten me at anything.\u00a0 But I like Jerry.\u00a0 Jerry\u2019s a good guy.\u00a0 He used to be very big! Jerry used to be a really, really big guy. But he\u2019s lost a lot of weight in there with a lap band.\u00a0 He\u2019s a fine guy now, but he doesn\u2019t know how to beat me.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Nadler is now the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, and they voted late yesterday to hold the attorney general, William Barr, in contempt of Congress.<\/p>\n<p>NADLER:\u00a0 We took a long time about approaching a constitutional crisis.\u00a0 We are now in it.\u00a0 We are now in a constitutional crisis.\u00a0 Benjamin Franklin, in 1787, was asked when he exited the Constitutional Convention, &#8220;What type of, uh, government have you given us, sir?&#8221; uh, by a woman asking the question. And he said, &#8220;A republic, ma\u2019am, if you can keep it.&#8221;\u00a0 Now is the time of testing whether we can keep a republic or whether this republic is destined to, uh, change into a different, more tyrannical form of government that other republics have over the centuries.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/e40KQdZJ8dI\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 You know, Jerry Nadler is just&#8230; You know when the Ken Starr report came out, Jerry Nadler was totally opposed to it going public.\u00a0 He was the exact opposite of the way he\u2019s dealing with the Mueller Report.\u00a0 But you can\u2019t get these people on hypocrisy because hypocrisy never sticks to \u2019em. Hypocrisy never attaches to them.\u00a0 When Eric Holder was held in contempt of Congress by the Republicans, the Democrats walked out of Congress!\u00a0 Do you remember this?\u00a0 They literally walked out.\u00a0 They were led by Pelosi and John Lewis and Elijah Cummings and the whole crowd, the Congressional Black Caucasians.<\/p>\n<p>When Eric Holder was held in contempt, they protested. They walked out. They claimed, &#8220;This was outrageous, should never have happened.&#8221;\u00a0 Did the Republicans walk out yesterday when these clowns claimed that the attorney general is in contempt?\u00a0 The attorney general was not in contempt.\u00a0 He did not refuse a subpoena.\u00a0 It was a voluntary appearance and he said, &#8220;No. I\u2019m not showing up if you guys aren\u2019t asking the questions.&#8221;\u00a0 We don\u2019t have a constitutional crisis. A constitutional crisis is what Nadler and his people are doing.\u00a0 They\u2019re turning it upside down here.\u00a0 Here\u2019s Evan Perez yesterday morning on CNN talking to the infobabe Poppy Harlow&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>PEREZ:\u00a0 It\u2019s kind of hard to understand how they went nuclear so quickly on this. It seems rather like they have started a constitutional crisis, not the other way around.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 I don\u2019t know if this guy\u2019s still working there today.\u00a0 But this is Evan Perez who said yesterday (summarized), &#8220;Democrats are the ones starting this. The Democrats have caused this constitutional crisis, not the Republicans.&#8221;\u00a0 Republicans haven\u2019t done anything!\u00a0 Trump has never, never stood in the way. He has not obstructed anything here, and it was Barr&#8230; It was Barr who requested that the administration assert executive privilege.\u00a0 Anyway, here\u2019s Pelosi.\u00a0 Her new favorite line:\u00a0 &#8220;Trump is self-impeaching.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>PELOSI:\u00a0 That is the path that I am following.\u00a0 It\u2019s about the facts and the law.\u00a0 Now, as I said yesterday, the president is almost self-impeaching because he is, every day, demonstrating more obstruction of justice and, uh, disrespect for, uh, Congress\u2019s legitimate role to subpoena.\u00a0 Again, this is very methodical. It\u2019s very constitution based. It\u2019s very law based. It\u2019s very factually based.\u00a0 It\u2019s not, um, about pressure.\u00a0 It\u2019s about patriotism.\u00a0 No, we\u2019re not even talking about isolated situations.\u00a0 We\u2019re talking about a cumulative effect of obstruction that the administration is engaged in.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 Trump is &#8220;self-impeaching.&#8221;\u00a0 He says Democrats&#8230; They\u2019re literally saying that they don\u2019t want to impeach Trump but Trump\u2019s goading them into it. Trump is making them do it.\u00a0 They don\u2019t want to impeach him, but damn it, Trump is making \u2019em. Because I definitely believe this man committed impeachable offenses. He\u2019s threatened the Constitution. He\u2019s threatened what we know about democracy, the republic, the rule of law &#8212; and, uhhh, it\u2019s just a question of how best to remove him from office.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 That doesn\u2019t sound like Steve Cohen to me.\u00a0 It is, but this&#8230; He was the guy yesterday talking about (impression), &#8220;Trump was broke! The Russians bailed him out. This guy is committing crimes. He deserves to be strung up.&#8221; Here, grab into the number 23.\u00a0 Jen Psaki.\u00a0 Jen Psaki ran the Hillary campaign in 2016.\u00a0 She\u2019s on with Jake Tapper on CNN yesterday.\u00a0 Question: &#8220;Sarah Sanders makes the argument that grand jury materials are not allowed to be released, but she\u2019s again saying the attorney general is being asked to break the law by Chairman Nadler.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>PSAKI:\u00a0 How sad it is that you can go out there and be a serial liar and represent an administration, Republican or Democratic &#8212; and we watch that every day.\u00a0 And I rooted for her from the beginning.\u00a0 I will say, in this case, Nadler is&#8230; I hope he\u2019s not following the rules, yes, the legal rules.\u00a0 But we need to be more rule-breakers on the Democratic side and not play by the game that has always been played, because we\u2019re dealing with Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 She said, &#8220;We need to break the rules to get Trump.&#8221;\u00a0 If you wonder what she\u2019s saying there (translated), &#8220;I hope he\u2019s not following the rules, the legal rules! I hope he\u2019s not.\u00a0 We gotta get rid of Trump.\u00a0 If we have to break the rules to get rid of Trump, then we gotta break the rules to get rid of Trump.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Brad in Colorado Springs, Colorado.\u00a0 Great to have you on the program today, sir.\u00a0 How are you?<\/p>\n<p>CALLER:\u00a0 Hello, Rush.\u00a0 I\u2019m really good.\u00a0 A liberal friend turned me on to your show 30 years ago, and I\u2019ve been listening ever since.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 A liberal friend turned you on to this show?<\/p>\n<p>CALLER:\u00a0 A liberal friend.\u00a0 He listened every day. He completely disagreed, but listened every day.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 That\u2019s because it\u2019s a good show and he was entertained by it, no doubt.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER:\u00a0 It is.\u00a0 It is.\u00a0 My point is that I don\u2019t think the Democrats are really after the Mueller report.\u00a0 Even if Bill Barr gave them the unredacted version, I believe that they would still complain.\u00a0 I believe what they\u2019re really after is the investigative and evidentiary materials behind the report.\u00a0 I\u2019m looking at a text from a May 3rd letter that Jerry Nadler sent to the attorney general.\u00a0 This is a quote:\u00a0 &#8220;As indicated in Item 2 of the committee\u2019s subpoena, the committee has a heightened interest in obtaining access to the investigative and evidentiary materials.&#8221;\u00a0 So what they really want is all the materials that Mr. Mueller collected.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 You know, this is&#8230; You\u2019re really close here.\u00a0 I don\u2019t even think they want that.\u00a0 They\u2019ve got all that. Mueller left nothing out. Believe me, he left nothing out.\u00a0 He\u2019s got all the innuendo and character assassination and destruction they could hope for in this report.\u00a0 But you\u2019re on to something else.<\/p>\n<p>BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 Look, the bottom line to our previous caller: It\u2019s never gonna stop until one thing happens.\u00a0 If Nadler and his committee are shown the entire report &#8212; if they are shown the investigative memoranda, if they are shown all the papers, if they are shown everything &#8212; it isn\u2019t gonna stop.\u00a0 Folks, there\u2019s nothing in it now and they\u2019re not stopping.\u00a0 The report says: No collusion.\u00a0 The obstruction chapter or section (Section 2), to me, is slander and libel.\u00a0 It is the exact opposite of what a prosecutor is to do according to the American system of justice.<\/p>\n<p>If you don\u2019t charge somebody, you don\u2019t say anything about what they did.\u00a0 In any other world, what Mueller has done to Trump here would be actionable.\u00a0 It is nothing but a bunch of slanderous and libelous breadcrumbs for people like Nadler and the rest of the Democrats to follow.\u00a0 But there\u2019s nothing.\u00a0 There wasn\u2019t any collusion, so there was nothing to obstruct.\u00a0 Trump didn\u2019t obstruct.\u00a0 We\u2019re going crazy saying all this over and over.\u00a0 The Democrats could be shown everything, and it wouldn\u2019t stop them.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-306727\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/APP-042219-Mueller-Report.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/APP-042219-Mueller-Report.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/APP-042219-Mueller-Report-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/>They would just say that it does say something that needs to be investigated.\u00a0 They\u2019d just make it up like they\u2019re making this up.\u00a0 They are still acting as though Trump stole the election, even though there isn\u2019t a shred of evidence and never has been.\u00a0 So if Mueller gave them everything, it wouldn\u2019t stop them.\u00a0 They\u2019re not looking for everything.\u00a0 They\u2019re looking for refusal.\u00a0 They\u2019re looking for the government holding something back.\u00a0 They\u2019re looking for anything that will allow them to tell their increasingly insane base that there is something, and it\u2019s being hidden.<\/p>\n<p>And there was perhaps collusion, and there was obstruction. But Barr, &#8220;the handpicked attorney general of Donald Trump,&#8221; is working to keep it all from them. They want to be able to say this.\u00a0 And if they were given everything, they would lie about what it says or doesn\u2019t say.\u00a0 So what will stop them?\u00a0 Well, again, it\u2019s offense and defense.\u00a0 The only thing that is going to stop this&#8230; &#8216;Cause look: &#8220;Collusion! Collusion! Collusion!&#8221; Now there\u2019s no collusion.\u00a0 So, &#8220;Obstruction! Obstruction! Obstruction!&#8221; There\u2019s no collusion.\u00a0 So, &#8220;Tax returns! Tax returns! Tax returns.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And on and on and on.\u00a0 This isn\u2019t gonna stop until some of these people are indicted.\u00a0 I\u2019m telling you right here and right now: The current framework of all this with the Democrats on offense, leveling endless allegations where there is no evidence for any of it, is not gonna stop until Comey or McCabe or Brennan or Bruce and Nellie Ohr or Strzok Smirk and Page &#8212; until somebody &#8212; is indicted for felonies, for felony leaking, for deluding the FISA court. That has to happen.\u00a0 This Barr investigation has to happen, and this is why there have to be indictments.<\/p>\n<p>The people who did this must be held accountable like any of the rest of us would be had we engaged in any of this.\u00a0 Comey is gonna do a town hall meeting on CNN Tonight where he is going to, once again, be given a full hour with a stacked audience to talk about the robust abilities of the FBI and how God-fearing they are and how patriotic they are. And how they saw evidence that there were members of the campaign talking to Russians and they had to investigate it.\u00a0 It would have been irresponsible not to.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s gonna be given one hour in a town hall meeting to continue this charade, with himself as Captain America, Captain Flag, Captain Patriot, when it is obvious that he misrepresented the truth to the FISA court in applying for the warrant to spy.\u00a0 Look, James Comey is on record as saying the Steele dossier was unverified, that it was salacious, that it was uncorroborated.\u00a0 He told Trump that on January 6, 2017, before Trump was even inaugurated. And yet, after that date, Comey\u2019s FBI continued to use the dossier to renew the FISA warrant to spy on the Trump campaign.<\/p>\n<p>So if Comey tells Trump, &#8220;It\u2019s unverified, it\u2019s salacious, it\u2019s uncorroborated,&#8221; and it was!\u00a0 It was all made up. The DNC paid for it. (He didn\u2019t tell Trump that.)\u00a0 Comey testified to so many different things.\u00a0 Until these people are indicted &#8212; and that\u2019s not gonna happen tomorrow, and it isn\u2019t gonna happen next week.\u00a0 We\u2019re not even expecting the inspector general report before the end of the month.\u00a0 Now, if Trump came along and declassified all these documents, that would go a long way. But it\u2019s still not gonna stop until the people who did this are formally accused &#8212; in detail &#8212; of doing what they did.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-295140\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/APP-040918-Americas-Anchorman-ADJUSTED.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/APP-040918-Americas-Anchorman-ADJUSTED.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/APP-040918-Americas-Anchorman-ADJUSTED-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That would change offense and defense, and that would put Nadler and all the rest &#8212; Pelosi, take your pick of the Democrat presidential nominees, the media. It would throw everybody back. Now, they would then have to mount a steadfast defense of every damn source who lied to them over and over and over for two years about Trump colluding.\u00a0 That would stop this.\u00a0 That would turn CNN and the New York Times and MSNBC and all the rest of them into the biggest defense-lawyer crowd you have ever seen. And until that happens, this current framework isn\u2019t gonna end.<\/p>\n<p>The never-ending allegations of, &#8220;What\u2019s in the report that we can\u2019t see? The never-ending collusion, the Republicans obstructing justice, the president declaring a constitutional crisis,&#8221; all of this made-up pap.\u00a0 It\u2019s going to go on until the people responsible for it are held formally accountable.\u00a0 And if and when that happens, then you talk about&#8230;? As I say, the Republicans have this plan to find a Never Trumper to be on the ballot to siphon votes away from Trump. The Never Trumper will not be intending to win.\u00a0 He won\u2019t even probably be on every ballot in every state.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019ll run as an independent. Just get on in some of these states that Trump narrowly won, take enough votes away from Trump so that Trump loses.\u00a0 If these people who the Never-Trumpers invested in and believe in &#8212; if some of them get indicted, if some of them are held accountable for what they did &#8212; it throws everything upside down.\u00a0 That\u2019s just one of the reasons why it has to happen. The primary reason is these people cannot be allowed to get away with this.<\/p>\n<p>What they have done is the real constitutional crisis, is the real analogy to Benjamin Franklin leaving the Constitutional Convention and a woman saying, &#8220;Mr. Franklin, what kind of government have you given us?&#8221;\u00a0 &#8220;A republic, madam, if you can keep it.&#8221;\u00a0 It is they, my friends, who have imperiled our republic.
