RUSH: I want to demonstrate for you here at the top of this hour what being on the cutting edge of societal evolution means. It was only yesterday on this program that I discussed one of the characteristics of Trump derangement system. One of the techniques of the left — and I\u2019m gonna let you hear it. I\u2019m not gonna say the whole thing here because I\u2019m gonna play it in a moment.<\/p>\n

But it was the monologue where I encouraged everybody to live in the present because that\u2019s where your life is. That\u2019s where happiness resides. That\u2019s where the pursuit of happiness is. That\u2019s where the opportunity to be all you can be or all you want to be, that\u2019s where it is. Not in the past and not in the future.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

I pointed out the left has corrupted both. The left looks at the past and all they see is all of this outrageous racism and sexism and bigotry of the United States. And in the future, well, that\u2019s dead, too, because you\u2019re gonna die from this or that or climate change or what have you.<\/p>\n

So you are surrounded, you are inundated by apocalyptic fatalism in both the past and the future. The past, you can\u2019t live again unless you want to live that way, but the future you can\u2019t possibly know, but you can certainly be affected by it. And I urged everybody, if you\u2019re so focused on the past and the future, you can\u2019t possibly enjoy your life. Your life is in the present.<\/p>\n

Here is how I said this yesterday. It has a payoff because you\u2019re going to see in the next bite following mine that exactly what I said was agreed with by a psychiatrist describing Trump derangement syndrome. But here is what I said yesterday first<\/a>.<\/p>\n

RUSH ARCHIVE: \u201cOh, my God, Trump\u2019s not gonna leave! We\u2019re gonna beat him, but he\u2019s not gonna leave. Oh, my God!\u201d This is all the left has. The left cannot allow you to live in the present. In the present, there are 1.5 million more job openings than there are jobs. In the present, the U.S. economy is going gangbusters. The tax cut did its magic. In the present, American prosperity is at an all-time high. But the left doesn\u2019t want you living in the present \u2014 and if you don\u2019t live in the present, there\u2019s no way you can enjoy yourself, folks. There\u2019s literally no way.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you\u2019re occupied by all the stuff in the past that happened\u2026 You weren\u2019t even alive but you\u2019re out wringing your hands (sniffling) \u201cover how bad it was and how horrible!\u201d And then you focus on the future where you may not even be able to live when you\u2019re 65 because of climate change or because this is gonna happen or that\u2019s gonna happen \u2014 this horror, that horror \u2014 you\u2019re not even able to live in the present. The present doesn\u2019t even occur to you because you\u2019re so focused on all the doom and gloom in the future, coupled with all the misery of the past, and this is their precise objective.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a key element to the left\u2019s psychological ploy to create constant fear and crisis, negativism and pessimism. Oh, yeah, they\u2019ll talk about the present in negative ways too. The last thing they want anybody doing is enjoying themselves. Because the present \u2014 the here and now, the things that you\u2019re doing in the here and now \u2014 are the things that matter toward your pursuit of happiness and your contentment. The last thing they want is you happy. Not when Donald Trump\u2019s in the White House.\u201d<\/p>\n

RUSH: So let\u2019s take you now to the network known as RTV, and that\u2019s Russian TV<\/a>. And they had a guest on there last night, psychotherapist Nancy Colier talking about Trump and Americans\u2019 mental health. Listen to this.<\/p>\n

HOLLAND COOKE: Data tells us that those who [don\u2019t] approve of President Trump\u2019s job performance are significantly more likely to experience negative emotions than his supporters. Disapprovers feel more negative than supporters. Nancy, does this validate what Rush Limbaugh and his army of imitators call Trump derangement syndrome?<\/p>\n

NANCY COLIER: It does. It really does. And anger does not lead to happiness. Anger leads to stress. All of the stuff that Trump and this whole administration is fomenting leads to misery. So we don\u2019t get happy when we\u2019re hating. We don\u2019t get happy when it\u2019s us against the other. More hate does not make us well. And it does not make us happy. And it does not make us rich.<\/p>\n

Suicide is going up because the whole way that we\u2019re living, not only the economic insecurity, not only the rage that\u2019s being fomented and worked, not only the climate insecurity, not only the — everywhere you look somebody is being blown up about some reason for hate. Right? But none of this works. So we\u2019ve got to get back to some sanity.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Isn\u2019t it amazing. They make my case for me every time I open up and get philosophical about \u2019em, somebody\u2019s gonna come along, think that they\u2019re criticizing me and actually validate what I\u2019m saying. Can\u2019t be happy during the Trump years. Not permitted. Can\u2019t be happy. Economic insecurity, climate change, can\u2019t be happy, somebody somewhere is being blown up, can\u2019t be happy. Don\u2019t want you to be happy. Not during the Trump years. That\u2019s not gonna work. That\u2019s not permissible.<\/p>\n

This is why I reach around and pat myself on the back now and then. I mean, I don\u2019t do it as often as validated, but I do.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
