<\/p>\nRUSH: I\u2019ve been getting a lot of emails. \u201cYou haven\u2019t talked about playing golf with the president. Why not?\u201d Because everybody knows I did. But some of the people are saying, \u201cWell, what was it like? How did you do?\u201d Let me explain just a few brief things.<\/p>\n
Whenever I play golf with my buddies, there\u2019s always something on the line. There\u2019s always a competition. You\u2019re never just out there playing and enjoying it for the sake of it. There\u2019s always a competition going on.<\/p>\n

And if you have a bad round, it can really tick you off. If you\u2019re not hitting the ball well, it can really make you mad, at yourself. You get mad at yourself. And then everybody else revels when you\u2019re screwing up because that redounds to their benefit.<\/p>\n
None of that, when you play with the president. He is the best host. He of course understands hospitality like no one else. But I\u2019ve had as much fun playing golf with President Trump as I have with anybody else because no matter how anybody\u2019s playing, it doesn\u2019t matter. It\u2019s just being out there and having a good time with all kinds of fun conversation about whatever comes up.<\/p>\n
Lexi Thompson from the LPGA tour was in our group last Friday, and she\u2019s astounding. She\u2019s 24, 25 years old. She hits the ball 300 yards. She is one of these people who is just a born athlete. She is just incredible and sweet and nice as she could be. She was the only woman in the group. Didn\u2019t faze her. We had Dana Quigley, who is recently retired from PGA Tour, played in something like 200 plus tournaments in a row.<\/p>\n
But the president encourages everybody. When he hits a bad shot, he just walks away from it and doesn\u2019t let it distract. Never, ever, is he in a bad mood. Never, ever, gets mad. Never, ever, gets angry. But more than that is focused on everybody else in the group and making sure that they\u2019re having a good time.<\/p>\n
There\u2019s breakfast beforehand, you have lunch afterwards, about seven, eight hours, and it is a thorough, front-to-back good time. He has the ability to make everybody in his group enjoy the moment, the time that you are on the golf course with him. And, of course, he\u2019s hilarious.<\/p>\n

He brags about his course all the time. Every hole is better than any hole on any other golf course. Every lake is better than any lake or ocean on any other golf course. Every waterfall is the best waterfall in golf. And if there\u2019s a better one, it\u2019s at one of his other courses. You don\u2019t stop laughing. You literally don\u2019t stop laughing.<\/p>\n
He\u2019s got indefatigable energy, and he plays well. He shot great on Friday. He was hitting the ball 260 yards, 275 yards off the tee. And it\u2019s funny. He never picks up the tee. One of the rules of golf is you pick up the tee after you\u2019ve hit your tee shot. He just leaves it there. So I used his tee. I followed him on every hole, so I just used his tee. He just walks away, doesn\u2019t even watch his shot land, just turns around and walks back and starts talking to the other people in the group.<\/p>\n
If somebody hits a bad shot, hits it out of bounds, he says, \u201cHit it again, we\u2019re out here to have a good time, don\u2019t sweat it.\u201d The last time I played with him I was playing so well he took my strokes away from me on the back nine. He said, \u201cYou\u2019re playing too well. You don\u2019t deserve strokes. We\u2019re not giving you any more.\u201d So he took my strokes away. Everybody just laughs about it.<\/p>\n
And there\u2019s all kinds of security around. I mean, they\u2019re there, but they\u2019re not oppressive. It\u2019s a great time, it\u2019s a unique opportunity, and, you know, the best thing I can say — when people ask me what well-known people are like when you meet them — the best thing I can tell you is Donald Trump, if you haven\u2019t met him and you want to, you won\u2019t be disappointed.<\/p>\n
He is everything that you would want him to be when you meet him. He\u2019s everything that you would hope. He\u2019s not arrogant, he\u2019s not stuck up, he\u2019s not distant. He has this ability to make whoever he\u2019s talking to feel like they\u2019re the only person in his attention span. That takes a lot of energy. I\u2019m actually amazed at the amount of energy that he\u2019s got. He never stops.<\/p>\n
And he\u2019s always focused on everybody else in the group and making sure that they\u2019re enjoying themselves and having a good time. Anticipates what you want, what you need, and has it for you if he thinks that you would like it.<\/p>\n

So it\u2019s a fabulous time, a great honor to be able to play golf with him, and it\u2019s fun because he puts together great, great groups of people.\u00a0 Who wouldn\u2019t want to play a round with Lexi Thompson?\u00a0 She\u2019s just excellent.\u00a0 She\u2019s superb.\u00a0 She is — and nice as she can be too.\u00a0 She was hitting the ball like out of this world.<\/p>\n
Swing is flawless.\u00a0 She hits the ball on her tiptoes.\u00a0 She\u2019s got so much energy on her swing, she rises up on her tiptoes when she hits off the tee — and let me just say, she works out.\u00a0 I want to avoid any kind of sexist connotation here.\u00a0 But she was… It\u2019s understandable why she\u2019s such an accomplished professional.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
