These polls are narrowing. They\u2019re getting tight. Despite the stories&#8230; (laughs) There\u2019s actually a story out today that Drive-By network executives are really concerned that this is going to be such a landslide, the election is over before most of you eat dinner, and they\u2019re worried about how to keep you watching all night. <\/p>\n<p>Of course, you\u2019ve seen all the other evidence that the Drive-Bys think this is over. But these two important polls are tightening up. Now, I just saw something, and it\u2019s about Obama today in Roanoke, Virginia. This tells me that he is definitely in trouble. He has pulled out a page from the 30-year-old Democrat playbook: John McCain will cut Medicare. All of a sudden Obama\u2019s pulling that? He\u2019s supposedly up six to ten points. He\u2019s supposedly in a prevent defense. He\u2019s supposedly coasting, trying to make no mistakes. The race is over, and he\u2019s out saying John McCain will cut Medicare? What\u2019s next, &#8216;John McCain\u2019s going to cut your Social Security\u2019? These are items from the Democrat playbook. <\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s the AP-Obama story: &#8216;Barack Obama is accusing John McCain of wanting to cut $882 billion from Medicare, and claims that would mean seniors pay more for drugs, receive fewer services and get lower quality care. In remarks prepared for a rally in red-state Virginia, Obama said McCain &#8230; is seeking the cuts in order to pay for his health care plan. &#8216;It\u2019s entirely consistent with Senator McCain\u2019s record during his 26 years in Congress where, time and again, he\u2019s opposed Medicare,\u2019 Obama said in his prepared remarks. There was no immediate response from the McCain campaign.\u2019 This is the surest sign yet that he\u2019s in trouble. This is a standard. This is what you do at the last minute when you\u2019re having all kinds of trouble because this stuff hasn\u2019t worked in a long time. And then, from the Los Angeles Times&#8230; <\/p>\n<p>You know how I\u2019ve been saying for the longest time to people who call, &#8216;We can\u2019t afford Obama.\u2019 We can\u2019t afford Obama in this way, that way, or this way. &#8216;Obama today criticized &#8230;McCain\u2019s healthcare plan, saying that if enacted it could lead to [all these] cuts to Medicare and Medicaid. In a TV ad called &#8216;It Gets Worse,\u2019 to air in key battleground states, the Obama campaign cites a Wall Street Journal report that McCain would finance his healthcare plan in part with &#8216;major reductions to Medicare and Medicaid.\u2019 The ad concludes, &#8216;John McCain, taxing health benefits, cutting Medicare. We can\u2019t afford John McCain.&#8221; They\u2019re responding to this program, ladies and gentlemen, where we have said, &#8216;We can\u2019t afford Obama.\u2019 So it won\u2019t be long before we\u2019re going to &#8216;cut Social Security\u2019 as well, and then we\u2019re going to &#8216;cut school lunches.\u2019 We\u2019re going to start hearing that McCain is going to cut all kinds of programs. This is not what you do when you\u2019re six to ten points up. <\/p>\n<p>BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: This afternoon in Roanoke, Virginia, at a campaign rally. Here is Obama. Here it in his own words. This tells me that he knows he\u2019s in trouble. When they go back and grab something 30 years old from the Democrat playbook, &#8216;McCain is gonna cut Medicare,\u2019 they\u2019re in trouble, and he knows it.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/01125115.Par.4584.ImageFile.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"256\" class=\"alignright\"\/>OBAMA: Senator McCain would pay for part of his plan by making drastic cuts in Medicare. This should come as no surprise. It\u2019s entirely consistent with Senator McCain\u2019s record during his 26 years in Congress, where time and again he\u2019s opposed Medicare. In fact, Senator McCain has voted against protecting Medicare 40 times.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Come on. (laughing)<\/p>\n<p>OBAMA: Forty times &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Nobody\u2019s done that.<\/p>\n<p>OBAMA: &#8212; he\u2019s failed to stand up for Medicare.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Nobody!<\/p>\n<p>OBAMA: So what would Senator McCain\u2019s cuts mean for Medicare at a time when more and more Americans are relying on it? It would mean a cut of more than 20% in Medicare benefits next year. If you count on Medicare, it would mean fewer places to get care and less freedom to choose your own doctors. You\u2019ll pay more for your drugs.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Oh, my!<\/p>\n<p>OBAMA: You\u2019ll receive fewer services. You\u2019ll get lower quality care.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: He\u2019s describing the Hillary plan! <\/p>\n<p>OBAMA: I don\u2019t think that\u2019s right. In fact, it ain\u2019t right.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: He\u2019s describing the Hillary plan! You won\u2019t be able to choose your own doctor, fewer places to get care? Voted against Medicare 40 times? The audience, I didn\u2019t hear \u2019em much.
