RUSH: Mary in Bristol, Connecticut, thank you for waiting, and I\u2019m glad you called. Hello.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, hello, Rush. Thank you for taking my call.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes, ma\u2019am.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Just a couple things. I know you get embarrassed with all the praise people give you but I have to tell you that I really feel like I might not mentally make it through the election without you and others like you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Who else is like me?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, we have a couple here in Connecticut. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Just kidding. <\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughing)<\/p>\n

RUSH: You know, I\u2019m just in a lighthearted, lighthearted mood.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay, okay. You know, I have to tell you, I don\u2019t have cable. So all I\u2019m left with is you, the Drive-By Media, so I don\u2019t watch the news. What I get from you is what I need to hear and know. And I could spend, oh, probably an hour and a half on the phone because I sort of cover the gamut of topics. I work for a small business, as a bookkeeper. And for me, that $3,000, I don\u2019t know, tax cut, is that what he\u2019s calling it?<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s a tax credit to hire a full-time worker.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s an insult. (laughs) It\u2019s an insult. It\u2019s like giving a nickel to a homeless person and taking them to a five-star restaurant and saying, ‘Here, go buy yourself a meal.\u2019 That\u2019s what it amounts to.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, but, you know, the purpose of it. He knows people aren\u2019t going to go for it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Absolutely.<\/p>\n

RUSH: This just sounds good on the campaign. ‘Obama cares about business. Obama cares about tax cuts. Obama wants you to get hired,\u2019 and then when the businesses don\u2019t take this up, guess who he gets to blame?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Absolutely. Yes. The people —<\/p>\n

RUSH: He goes populist. He blames the business. He gets himself more on the side of the so-called little guy who\u2019s getting the shaft.<\/p>\n

CALLER: What I want to know is why nobody realizes that this $250,000 number he\u2019s giving for who now gets to be the rich person he\u2019s going to tax more is d\/b\/a\u2019s, LLC, partnerships, and small S-Corps. They might gross receipt anywhere between a half and a million dollars a year, and if he taxes them on gross receipts before they take out their cost of doing business, even before they pay vendors…<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s what we don\u2019t know.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Exactly.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s what we don\u2019t know, Mary, and nobody is asking him about it because the people that are responsible for finding this out and telling us don\u2019t care what he means by it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, it\u2019s so incredibly… Oh, and I live in Dodd-land. We cannot rid ourselves of that criminal no matter what we do. If this state were any bluer we could change its name to Smurfica, you know?<\/p>\n

RUSH: (laughing)<\/p>\n

CALLER: It is hard to be a conservative in Connecticut, my friend, let me tell you that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I know that because I\u2019ve got a couple conservative friends in Connecticut.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Ugh!<\/p>\n

RUSH: Go off to see \u2019em sometimes in the summer to play golf, and they take me out to dinner with their friends and I can\u2019t handle more than an hour of it and I have to get out of there.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m telling you. Ugh!<\/p>\n

RUSH: I never hear such whining and moaning, all they read is the New York Times, and what the hell? You people need to join America. You ain\u2019t it. This is not the way most Americans look at their day.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I am telling you, the New York Times… I call it ‘The Treason Times,\u2019 thank you, Ann Coulter. Where is she? We need to hear from her.<\/p>\n

RUSH: She\u2019s busy sequestered writing her next book. You know how these authors are. <\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughing)<\/p>\n

RUSH: They\u2019ll stay up \u2019til four in the morning writing, and the shades are drawn and there\u2019s only one light on at the computer. They go to bed about midnight — or noon, rather, whatever it is. She\u2019s book crunching, from what I\u2019ve been told.<\/p>\n

CALLER: That — that —<\/p>\n

RUSH: I saw her Friday night.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Did you? She is absolutely one of the single most intelligent women I have ever read. I cannot believe —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, she listens to this program. She may not be listening to it now because she\u2019s book crunching, but if she\u2019s listening to it, she\u2019s agreeing with you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, Annie, girl, you go ahead and write another book because I\u2019ll be the first one in line to buy it, let me tell you. (laughing) I just really appreciate what you do, and it helps me when I\u2019m talking to those in Connecticut who are daily sipping the Kool-Aid of the Obama campaign to just stop them. You know, they\u2019re all about, ‘Well, what about the oil companies?\u2019 And I cannot believe that people do not understand that the oil companies create a product that is sold on the market, and they are entitled to their profits, you nut ball!<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019ll give you one of my favorite pieces of advice, Mary, and that\u2019s, ‘Don\u2019t get in an argument with fools, because after awhile nobody will be able to tell who\u2019s the fool, you or the fool. I know the desire is to inform \u2019em, and the desire is to educate them and to change their mind on things, and there\u2019s a way to do it, but debate will not do it. You know, ridiculing them, asking them provocative questions and so forth to which the answers are obvious, but even then it\u2019s going to be very tough because you\u2019re not talking about people who have arrived at an opinion after an intellectual process. You know how hard it is to argue with emotion. Okay, you say you love country music. I say, ‘I\u2019m not a big fan of it,\u2019 and then I say, ‘You\u2019re wrong.\u2019 How can anybody be ‘wrong\u2019 liking a kind of music? You can\u2019t be. Your tastes can be questioned, but you can\u2019t be said to be wrong in those kinds of likes, and that\u2019s what we\u2019re talking about with people liking Democrats. They like Democrats because Democrats put down who they think are the enemy, and if they ever did take a moment to think about it or educate themselves they\u2019d realize how wrong they are. But then we get to the problem they don\u2019t want to know that they\u2019re wrong because that\u2019s crushing. You have to understand, there are a lot of people out there who don\u2019t want to be right. They don\u2019t care about being right or wrong. They want to feel good, and anything you do that gets in the way of that makes you the enemy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
