RUSH: Andy in Niles, Michigan. Welcome to the EIB Network. Hello, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hello, Rush. It\u2019s an honor to speak with you today.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I just watched some of the debate last night and, boy, Obama seems to be able to say anything he wants and get away with it, and I would expect that McCain would have wanted to take him up on things. One thing I heard him say last night was when the question was asked about using the military for human rights violations and how would you do that, and he said that, hey, I would send him in there, and that\u2019s a huge important thing. And, you know, they\u2019ve been arguing for months now. But in the debate last night, too, about the fact that we should never be in Iraq, we shouldn\u2019t be in Iraq for any reason. That was the wrong thing to do.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right, and that\u2019s a great point. We shouldn\u2019t be in Iraq, but we should be everywhere else in the world that has human rights violations.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Exactly! (laughing) So I mean McCain should have just stopped and right there said, ‘So you\u2019re saying that we shouldn\u2019t be in Iraq for any reason including these human rights reasons that you would have sent troops there for?\u2019<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s very well perceived, very shrewd of you, and of course both answers are a lie. He\u2019s not going to send the US military around the world every time there\u2019s a human rights violations someplace, and the whole business about Iraq, he\u2019s just got to continue to play to his left-wing fringe base on that. Iraq has become something it isn\u2019t. It\u2019s a symbol for Bush hatred, and he has to do it. He\u2019s just triggering Bush hatred with the word Iraq, but I think it\u2019s just amazing the things that he\u2019ll say that he will do. He\u2019s the one saying we\u2019re spread too thin now in two theaters. So we gotta pull out of Iraq to be able to win in Afghanistan; but every time there\u2019s a human rights violation somewhere, we\u2019re going to send in the troops? Ha. By the way, somebody told me that he made mention of everybody having to join the Peace Corps, not voluntary? Did you hear that or see that? Sometimes I get hieroglyphics messages from people and I have trouble translating. They always assume I know everything they\u2019re writing about and if I don\u2019t, I\u2019m clueless. RUSH: Well!<\/p>\n

CALLER: Rush —<\/p>\n

RUSH: I gotta ask you a question.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Sure.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What kind of phone are you on? It\u2019s the best phone I\u2019ve heard in months.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Just a General Electric phone.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Where did you buy it?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, gosh. One of those discount joints. (laughing). Whether it was Wal-Mart or Kmart, I don\u2019t remember.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I knew it. I knew it. It wasn\u2019t some of these high-tech things, these high-tech stores, a basic GE phone! I didn\u2019t even know GE made phones.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. It\u2019s got some fancy things on it, like some memory. What is it, 12 memory spots for phone numbers and redial and all that stuff —<\/p>\n

RUSH: I don\u2019t need that.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — otherwise I\u2019d have never made it through to you. (laughing)<\/p>\n

RUSH: I don\u2019t call 12 people, and I never call anybody back. So I don\u2019t need redial. I don\u2019t need 12 storage numbers. <\/p>\n

CALLER: (chuckling)<\/p>\n

RUSH: Does it have voice mail capability? <\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, nooooo. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Even better!<\/p>\n

CALLER: It is real simple when it comes to that stuff.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Even better, so nobody can clog up your phone with wasteful, worthless, bugging messages, either. <\/p>\n

CALLER: (chuckling)<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019ve got to go look into one of these. I\u2019ve got this Panasonic system with three lines on it, all these buttons to call every part of the house, and I never use it because I don\u2019t like it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. Rush, the reason I was calling is I\u2019m a retired examiner for the Treasury department.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No wonder you\u2019re using a GE phone. Okay.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. I\u2019ve reviewed packages of loans, and the mortgage-backed securities and all of that stuff. And the reason I was calling was, everybody\u2019s heard Obama saying, ‘Oooh, I\u2019m going to put all my emphasis into the student loans now.\u2019 I want to remind everybody, anybody that paid any attention to student loans that knows we\u2019ve already had to bail out Sallie Mae because of all the delinquent loans that were there. It\u2019s just a mini-version of the current thing that\u2019s going on now. Now he\u2019s going to go on and go a huge advance on that and they\u2019ll pull the same dumb garbage that they pulled before. ‘Oh, no, bank! We won\u2019t let you put in the contract that if you take this government loan, that 1% or 2% or 3% or 5% or 10% of your take-home paycheck gets automatically sent to pay your loan. Oh, no! That\u2019s just too cruel. We won\u2019t allow any of the judges that when you get into court to set up a solution when the thing ends up in a workout, that they can impose that kind of thing. Oh, no, that\u2019s too cruel!\u2019 I mean, that\u2019s the kind of lunacy that the Democrats have been pulling on us. I sat there when I was doing the exams, when Bill Clinton took over and CRA clobbered us.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s just so unfair. It\u2019s just so unfair to enforce these rigorous standards that other people are forced to obey. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Louise in Indianapolis. Obama was there today. Were you there?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I sure am. Mega, mega, mega dittos, Rush. We love you here in Indianapolis. I\u2019m calling because I think this Obama, quote, tax rebate is the biggest scam going. He\u2019s going to let the Bush tax cuts expire, which is going to jack up everybody\u2019s taxes, including those making over $250. He\u2019s going to slap another tax on top of that, and then he\u2019s going to give us a measly indeterminate amount percentage for one year back.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, big whoop.<\/p>\n

CALLER: But it\u2019s fake, because he\u2019s going to raise the taxes when he lets the tax cuts expire.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I know. That is a tax increase. But I\u2019ll tell you something else. This business that he\u2019s going to cut taxes on 95% of the American people, barely 70% are paying taxes, and by the time Obama gets through the number paying taxes will be 43%. Forty-three percent will be paying taxes, and the balance will not be, by the time he gets through with this. That would be so easy to swat out of the park, 95% are going to get a tax cut. The dirty little secret is that Obama\u2019s secret new voting bloc is the 30% of people that don\u2019t pay taxes now. They\u2019re the ones that want everybody else\u2019s taxes raised so they can live off of it from the government. Yeah, we\u2019re doing paeans to these people that don\u2019t pay taxes. Oh, the poor middle class, oh, we gotta cut their taxes. They\u2019ve had their taxes cut. Now, they\u2019re paying payroll taxes, but when it comes to income taxes, they\u2019re not paying it. Thirty percent of American taxpayers don\u2019t pay income tax, not 30% of the population, 30% of taxpayers don\u2019t pay federal income tax, and he runs around and says 95% of the American people going to get a tax cut. It doesn\u2019t work out, the numbers don\u2019t work out. Thank you, Louise. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes. It\u2019s Carrie, C-a-r-r-i-e, Carrie.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What did I say?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I thought you said Perry.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, no, I said Carrie. What kind of phone do you have?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019ve got a Panasonic like you do, I think.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, that\u2019s the problem.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughing) Anyway, Rush, I\u2019m calling to tell you, I\u2019m 68-and-a-half years old, and I am fit to be tied over this election, totally fit to be tied. I\u2019m either going to get a divorce or have a stroke or a heart attack before it\u2019s over because I\u2019m driving my husband crazy with all this stuff, but anyway, what I\u2019m really calling you about today is about the debate last night.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Is it just me, or it appeared to me that these people that were there, that supposedly they were their questions, they couldn\u2019t even read the questions.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, I just was going through the sound bites here. There was one question from a Teresa Finch, ‘How can we trust either of you with our money when both parties got us into this global economic –‘ now, I guarantee you, there is not an average citizen that talks that way, and furthermore, both —<\/p>\n

CALLER: They just were not intelligent enough to write those kinds of questions. They couldn\u2019t even read \u2019em!<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah. Well, you\u2019re making a good point. Brokaw made sure that Obama was protected.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: The reason McCain likes these town halls is because he likes interacting with the people, not some guy they dragged out of Jurassic Park in a mausoleum.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And they had these questions, and they made sure that abortion didn\u2019t come up, immigration didn\u2019t come up, gun control didn\u2019t come up — <\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — all of these issues that are crucially important to people in a presidential race —<\/p>\n

CALLER: It was just the same old stuff we\u2019ve heard over and over again, just the generic stuff, you know?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yep, yep, yep, yep.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I don\u2019t think for one minute those people wrote those questions. I\u2019ll never believe it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, you never know. They\u2019re a bunch of moderates in there. There had to be a bunch of moderate undecideds.<\/p>\n

CALLER: But do you think they wrote \u2019em?<\/p>\n

RUSH: I don\u2019t know.<\/p>\n

CALLER: They couldn\u2019t even read \u2019em. It was their question; they couldn\u2019t even read it?<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m telling you, it\u2019s sort of like, have you ever watched a golf tournament on the Golf Channel?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: They\u2019ve got a couple people at Golf Channel, like a guy will sink a par putt and the announcer babe will say, ‘And he authors a par.\u2019 Nobody authors a par on a golf course, you make a par. I\u2019m going to play golf this afternoon. If I make a par, I\u2019m not going to turn to my buddy and say, ‘Look at me, I just authored a par.\u2019 By the same token, you\u2019re not going to have somebody say, ‘The global economic crisis.\u2019<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: The average citizen is going to say, ‘What the hell is happening to my IRA, and what the hell are you going to do about it?\u2019 <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
