Everybody keeps telling me it’s over. You’d think Obama had a 15 to ten-point lead. But he doesn’t. What’s going on here frankly is the American people are, as I said yesterday, focusing on Obama, and they are not comfortable with him. They are not comfortable with his massive government approaches to everything; not comfortable with his Mr. Cool attitude and his growing cockiness; they’re not comfortable with his terrorist friends. People don’t like terrorists. And they’re not comfortable that he knows anything about which he talks about. He does not know. How many of us can say we have anything in common with Osama Bin Laden? Barack Obama can. Barack Obama and Osama Bin Laden both have friends who bombed the Pentagon. Yeah.

Obama has the media behind him. He has history behind him. He has events behind him. And yet the race is tight. He can’t close the deal. Do you know at this time in the election of 2000 Algore was up by 11 and lost to George Bush. The Democrats, as you will hear in these upcoming sound bites are now playing for keeps, threats, intimidation, voter fraud, lies, whatever it takes. They want this election. They will stop at nothing to get it, which is why we must stop them. If it will help you not to watch the next debate because you don’t want to get depressed, don’t watch it. I’ll watch it and tell you what you missed. If watching the next debate, if it depresses you, makes you mad, don’t watch it. I will. I’ll tell you when it’s time to head south, and it’s not time to head south. The Democrats, the Drive-By Media are scared because Obama is supposed to be way ahead. Remember, they asked this question about a month ago, how come he’s not away ahead, we don’t understand this, we’re pushing him and we’re pushing him, we’re giving him all this biased coverage. Why isn’t he ahead? That’s why Carville says what he said, you’re going to hear in a moment. They’re scared. They want us to believe that every point or two in Obama’s polling data is a trend and that he is unstoppable, but that’s not the case. Here is David Rodham Gergen talking with Anderson Cooper on CNN last night. Question: ‘Do you think that despite the lead in the polls, people might change their minds once they’re actually in the voting booth?’

GERGEN: I think it’s too early to declare victory, Anderson, because Barack Obama is black. And I think until we play out the issue of race in this country, I don’t think we — will know, maybe less — late in the campaign. We don’t know about the race factor in America now. So I think it’s too soon and I think it could close some before it’s over.

RUSH: Whoa, that means David Rodham Gergen now joins the ranks of leftists in the Drive-By Media who have already written his post-election comments. This is a disgrace. He’s already written his comments for post-election should Obama lose. Well, I don’t know we can answer. It’s too early to declare victory, Anderson. It’s not because Obama’s black, Mr. Gergen, it’s too early to declare victory ’cause no votes have been — well, other than fraudulent votes in Ohio — the election hasn’t happened yet! That’s why you can’t declare victory. How stupid do these people think we are? So once again, we get the subtle hint that America is still racist, deeply steeped, joyously so in its racist past, and it will come back to haunt the candidacy, the historic candidacy of Barack Obama. If we accept Gergen’s point here, too early to declare victory ’cause Obama’s black, if we accept his point that if Obama loses it’s because of race, then we have to conclude that if he wins it’s because of race, don’t we?

If he wins, it’s going to be because of race. It certainly isn’t going to be about content of character or issues ’cause nobody knows about that. I’ll tell you something else. The American people do not need lectures from Harvard professors telling them they are racist unless they vote for Obama and only if they vote for Obama are they true Americans. That crap might fly in the Harvard faculty cafeteria, but it doesn’t fly in real America, and I guarantee you they’re all talking about it in the Harvard cafeteria. ‘It’s a terrible country. Obama probably doesn’t have a chance. You can’t declare victory yet because he’s black.’ So we get preached to, we’re still racist. The real reason you can’t declare victory is because the election hasn’t happened. Here is James Carville, who says this about Obama losing.

CARVILLE: Now, let me be clear here. If Obama goes in this race with a five-point lead and loses this election, the consequences are — oh, man. I mean I don’t think that’s going to happen, but I think David — it’s a point to bring up, but you stop and contemplate this country if Obama goes in and he has a consistent five-point lead and loses the election, it would be very, very, very traumatic out there.

RUSH: What does that mean? What does it mean to be very traumatic out there? Let me be clear here. Obama goes in this race five-point lead, loses the election, the consequences, bull, man, I mean I don’t think that’s going to happen, but I think, David, it’s a point to bring up, but you stop and contemplate this country if Obama goes in, he got a five point — very traumatic — he’s talking about riots. He’s talking about riots out there. Why can’t he be? Because he’s a pleasant, loving and caring, compassionate Democrat? He’s talking about riots! Gergen talked about race; Carville follows it up talking about going to be very traumatic out there. We should take heart in the comments of Gergen and Carville and Begala. Here’s Begala. He says that Palin’s attacks are racist.

BEGALA: This is why what Sarah Palin is doing is so dangerous. In the view, the Associate Press, they said her attack on this whole Bill Ayres thing was racially tinged. That’s not what the Democrats said, that’s what the Associated Press said.

RUSH: (laughing)

BEGALA: And it harkens back to, at the convention, she had this quote in her convention speech, a kind of anodyne quote about how small towns are good. Well, Bobby Kennedy, Jr., looked it up, and was from a guy named Westbrook Pegler, who Kennedy describes as a fascist and avowed racist who wrote this about Bobby’s father, Senator Kennedy: ‘Some white patriot of the southern tier will spatter his spoonful of brains in public premises before the snow flies.’ Now, why does this governor have such an affinity for such a hatemonger to quote him in her speech, why is she now saying things, at least the Associated Press says, are very divisive?

RUSH: The Associated Press, Obama you mean? AP Obama? APO? So Palin is racist because she caters to small town Americans. So CNN is on this racial thing. They are worried, they are scared. We should take to heart their comments.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I want to go back. You know, CNN was all in last night. They were playing the race card last night after the debate. It was just striking. David ‘Rodham’ Gergen says it’s too early to declare victory because Obama is black. Begala said Sarah Palin was being racist by praising small town America. And James Carville said this.

CARVILLE: Now, let me be clear here. If Obama goes in this race with a five-point lead and loses this election, the consequences are — oh, man. I mean I don’t think that’s going to happen, but I think David — it’s a point to bring up, but you stop and contemplate this country if Obama goes in and — and he has a consistent five-point lead and loses the election, I — it’s — it would be very, very, very traumatic out there.

RUSH: Now, I want you to imagine if, say, I said something like this or some other conservative anywhere, said, ‘Yeah, if Obama, if he loses, you know, there’s going to be riots out there. The blacks are going to riot.’ This is what James Carville said. You tell me where the racism is in this country. It is on the left. Here’s Carville trying to scare America. He’s doing two things. He didn’t accidentally come up with that 5% figure. These guys are worried to death about the Wilder Effect. They are worried about the Bradley Effect, meaning they are worried that people are lying to the pollsters, saying they will vote for Obama.

But because they are really racists and don’t want to admit that to a pollster, that they get to the voting booth in private, will vote for the white guy, Yosemite Sam instead of The Messiah. So that selection of five points, that’s key. I’ve told you if Obama is not up by ten or so, it’s going to be a much closer race than everybody thinks. But for James Carville to suggest that the political immaturity of the majority of the black population of this country is such that they will take to the streets and riot, I hope all of you African-Americans listening to this program understand how that means the Democrat Party sees you.

In fact, I might go so far as to say — not about Carville, I don’t know — but there might be some of the Democrats that wouldn’t mind seeing some riots if Obama loses. Nevertheless that’s what they think of you. You are going to take to the streets, going to be Rodney King and South Central Los Angeles all over the country. So there’s a fright factor here. There is a bigotry factor here, and of course there is racism on parade all over the place. And once again the racism originates and comes from the Democrat Party.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: This is Jean in Cary, North Carolina. Glad you waited. You’re up next.

CALLER: Hey, Rush, mega dittos. Great to talk to you.

RUSH: Thank you very much.

CALLER: Hey, I want to know, am I a racist if I’m prejudiced against these appeasing liberals to divide these United States? Is my opinion, any opinion I have now because I’m not a liberal or I’m not black or I’m not Muslim, does that make me a racist because I have different opinions and thoughts?

RUSH: What makes you a racist is, A, you live in North Carolina, B, you’re Republican.

CALLER: Exactly. Because I live in the Ph.D. capital over here and as you can tell by my voice, I am from Brooklyn, and so, you know, they look at me with daggers.

RUSH: Just the way it is. You can’t take this stuff personally. In fact, I’ve got an audio sound bite. Grab audio sound bite number 36. I want you to listen to this with me.

CALLER: Okay.

RUSH: Because we just played James Carville. You heard it. James Carville on CNN last night —

CALLER: Yes.

RUSH: — claiming there going to be riots, got very traumatic times out there if Obama doesn’t win.

CALLER: I think that’s unbelievable.

RUSH: Well, no, it’s totally believable. They’re the racists, and they are insulting black people, and they are —

CALLER: I agree.

RUSH: All right, now, wait, wait, wait, now I want to play you Carville on May 15th of this year, Good Morning America. Remember, at one time Obama was running against Hillary. Let me ask you a question. Did James Carville ever say that if Obama didn’t get the nomination there would be riots?

CALLER: Right. Right.

RUSH: He was asked by Diane Sawyer: ‘Should Senator Clinton say that she is rejecting the votes of anyone whose vote is based in any way on skin color?’ In other words, she was asking Carville if people are voting for Hillary ’cause they’re racist.

CARVILLE: I have no idea, honestly, do you have like a — does Senator Clinton have somebody out in front of every polling place and, you know, quiz people or put ’em under a lamp or something like that? If a candidate can’t go — now, a lot of people that vote for Senator Obama I’m sure base — based on — on race also, shall we not let these people vote? Of course we should.

RUSH: So when it was Hillary, when Hillary was the opponent out there, Jean, no, no, no, there’s no way that people are voting for Hillary, because she’s white and he’s black, no talk of any riots.

CALLER: I want to know who James Carville is going to vote for, I’d like to see.

RUSH: Do you have a cold, Jean?

CALLER: Yes, I do. (laughing)

RUSH: I thought that I detected a cold. You take anything for it?

CALLER: No, but I probably will invest in Pepto-Bismol. (laughing)

RUSH: Well, I can understand why you’d need that, but let me tell you what to do. Get some Zicam. I knew she had a cold. I could tell. You sound stuffed up out there.

RUSH: This series of post-debate comments of people on CNN is interesting, ’cause, you know, you look at the polls here today, it’s very odd, I thought this was all over, I coulda sworn it was.
