RUSH: Let\u2019s go to the audio sound bites. Barack Obama this afternoon, Reno, Nevada, campaign event.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: For the rest of today and as long as it takes, I\u2019ll continue to reach out to leaders in both parties and do whatever I can to help secure the plan. This morning I talked to President Bush, I talked to Senator Harry Reid, the majority leader — (cheers and applause) oh, yeah, I forgot, he happens to come from Nevada. To the Democrats and Republicans who opposed this plan yesterday, I say, ‘Step up to the plate; do what\u2019s right for this country.\u2019 And to all Americans, I say this. If and when I am president of the United States, this rescue plan will not be the end of what we do to strengthen our economy. It will only be the beginning.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re talking to people who don\u2019t buy it, Barry. Twenty-six percent think you know what you\u2019re doing; 76% don\u2019t. And this is really leadership, isn\u2019t it? Step up to the plate. He\u2019s out in Nevada telling people, (doing Obama impression) ‘You step up to the plate over there. I\u2019m talking to you, you people in DC, step up to the plate. You, step up. I\u2019m talking to people on the phone. You step up.\u2019 Here\u2019s a guy who had a chance to get the Congressional Black Caucus on board, didn\u2019t do diddly-squat, a fraud and a pretender. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Hey, Rush. How you doing?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Good.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I don\u2019t know how much you know that you\u2019re appreciated from the folks out here that have been frustrated with what\u2019s going on.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Appreciate it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Real quick, if Barack Obama is who we have heard he has been over the last 19 months, he would have came into that meeting and he woulda fixed things. And what has happened since he left that meeting? Chaos. So please, please, and stop with those kids singing, because that was torture.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I agree, but we love the children here, Bob, even when they\u2019re little mind-numbed robots being programmed by a bunch of socialist communist Hollywood people. You gotta know what\u2019s going on. He\u2019s exactly right. Obama strode into that White House meeting, we\u2019ve had chaos ever since, this from the great unifier, this from the fixer, this from the change, this from the guy who\u2019s going to bring all nations together as one, can\u2019t even unite Washington, DC, which it hasn\u2019t been united in a long time.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: By the way, Obama, changing subject here from Bush. July 29th, 2008, Barack Obama, before the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials — and we\u2019ve got this in our archives. I just didn\u2019t want to pressure Cookie to find it now. I was just reminding them; we could do it tomorrow. Two minutes 45 seconds into his speech. ‘For eight long years Washington has not been working for ordinary Americans or for hardworking Latino Americans. Few have been hit harder than Latino Americans and African-Americans. You know what I\u2019m talking about, the people like the couple I met in Las Vegas who were tricked into buying a house they couldn\u2019t afford and are at risk of facing foreclosure.\u2019 <\/p>\n

This was part of his stump speech that you poor people who have these houses you can\u2019t pay for were tricked into buying a house you couldn\u2019t afford. They weren\u2019t tricked into it. Now all of a sudden Obama is dropping this, but April 2, 2008, AFL-CIO. Think about it. The top mortgage lenders spend $185 million lobbying Congress, and we wonder why Washington looked the other way when they were tricking families into buying homes they couldn\u2019t afford. If anybody did the tricking, Obama, it was you, and it was the Democrats in Washington. Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Franklin Raines, Jim Johnson, your advisors, ACORN, these were the ones tricking people. Tricking people into buying mortgages they couldn\u2019t afford? So you admit that this shouldn\u2019t have been done. Is that right, Obama? You\u2019re admitting these people should not have gotten mortgages? That\u2019s pretty profound because Barney Frank and all the other Democrats think not only should they get their mortgages, they ought to be able to keep their houses and not be foreclosed on. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Last night in West Des Moines, Iowa, here is McCain blaming the Pelosi-Obama ticket for all of this.<\/p>\n

MCCAIN: Senator Obama and his allies in Congress infused unnecessary partisanship into the process. Now is not the time to fix the blame. It\u2019s time to fix the problem. I would hope that all our leaders — all of them — can put aside short-term political goals and do what\u2019s in the best interests of the American people.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Senator, you can sit there and you can hope that all day long, and it isn\u2019t going to happen. It\u2019s time to beat them! He said in a statement today, ‘Bipartisanship is tough.\u2019 It\u2019s not. It\u2019s easy. Bipartisan is gutless. All you have to do is throw away half your principles and give the other side what they want and then say, and then somehow you\u2019re a maverick. Holding firm and fast to your principles is what\u2019s tough. Now is not the time to fix the blame? It certainly is, Senator, because the blame rests with the people who claim that they are going to monitor and fix this! (groans) Obama. It\u2019s such a dire emergency, right? Obama yesterday in Westminster, Colorado, at a campaign event.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: I read the other day that, uh, Senator McCain likes to gamble. He likes to roll those dice. And — and that\u2019s okay, I enjoy — uh, eh, I (gagging) I\u2019m making a confession here. I enjoy a little friendly game of poker, uh, myself once in a while. (hoots) But the one thing I know is this. We can\u2019t afford to gamble on four more years of the same disastrous economic policies that we\u2019ve have the last eight.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Let me tell you something, you little squirrel. We can\u2019t afford to have ten more years of the kind of disastrous monitoring of the mortgage and financial markets that your party has given us. We can\u2019t afford another year of Barney Frank. We can\u2019t afford one more year of Chris Dodd. We can\u2019t afford one more year of Pelosi. We can\u2019t afford one more year of Harry Reid. We can\u2019t afford a day of you, Senator Obama. We cannot afford Franklin Raines getting anywhere near a big pile of money anymore. We can\u2019t afford Jim Johnson getting anywhere near a big pile of money anymore, Obama. We can\u2019t afford Daniel Mudd getting anywhere near a big pile of government money anymore. Bush economic policies had nothing to do with this, Obama. Your policies, your party\u2019s policies have brought us to this brink of whatever it is. People were not tricked into loans they couldn\u2019t afford, you wanted people to have loans they couldn\u2019t pay back! That was ACORN\u2019s whole deal. I think Barack Obama is a disgrace. Okay, so McCain likes to play craps. He plays at the Bellagio. I\u2019ve been out there. I went out there played craps one day and I got to the tables and the people at the table said, ‘Oh, you just missed Senator McCain,\u2019 and I went, ‘Whew!\u2019 Everybody knows. He doesn\u2019t hide it. Obama admits he plays poker. Hell, we\u2019re playing poker by even gambling on the fact that Obama\u2019s got a chance to win the election. Listen to this from McCain this morning on Fox &amp; Friends. It\u2019s number ten. Here we go.<\/p>\n

MCCAIN: I have talked to the president this morning and recommended an increase from a hundred thousand to $250,000 FDIC insured deposits. I also strongly recommended that the Exchange Stability Fund that the Treasury has, has available $250 billion to shore up these institutions. Also the Treasury has at its disposal about a trillion dollars that they could begin — without congressional authority — buying up some of these terrible mortgages.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What?<\/p>\n

MCCAIN: And it\u2019d help stabilize this situation.<\/p>\n

RUSH: If the Treasury has all this money and can do all this without Congress, then why have we all been wasting our time for two weeks on legislation?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
