You’re next. Welcome to the EIB Network. Hello.

CALLER: Hi, Rush. Mega dittos —

RUSH: Thank you.

CALLER: — from a soccer mom in Gainesville.

RUSH: Thanks much.

CALLER: Listen, I don’t know if I’m to the level of frustration of your previous caller, but I’m quite frustrated. I’m a stay-at-home mom, so, you know, we do kind of have the news on quite a bit, and just watching on TV and hearing that the Democrats can get out and spew, as you call the talking points, it’s the same thing, and they go unchallenged. And I’m just waiting and so frustrated waiting for a Republican to come out and just say the opposite. Say what happened. Give us the timeline, how this goes back, how far back it goes into previous administrations, who held up what, who voted against what, who has their hands in the cookie jar, and why we are here today. I mean the Ohio senator that you were speaking of, I saw him on Fox News this morning, and he also said, ‘Well, we’re in this mess because the Republicans and Bush got rid of the regulation. That’s why we’re in this mess.’ And they didn’t have a Republican at the same time debate that issue. It just cut off and went to a commercial break, and that’s what you’re left with.

RUSH: Well, that’s true, there wasn’t a Republican Senator that they went and got. They got Mitch McConnell later.

CALLER: Yeah.

RUSH: I didn’t hear what he said. What the networks are doing, particularly Fox and CNN, occasionally PMSNBC, DNC in the daytime, they’re going out and getting McCain spokesmen that are Republican Party analysts, spokesmen and so forth. It all comes from the top. I share your frustration. This frustration is something that people like you have been invoicing for most of the 20 years that I have been serving humanity here behind the Golden EIB Microphone, and I can just tell you I ask them, ‘Why don’t you guys –‘ They say, ‘We do, they just won’t cover us.’ I’ll tell you, I have a different theory right now. I think since the House Republicans are the focus, I think Mike Pence and Boehner and Blunt and Jeb Hensarling, they could get out there and they could own a one-hour press conference. Since they are the focus, since they are the ones, the Democrats say are holding this up. If I were them, I’ll schedule a press conference, not just a little meet-and-greet out there for a couple minutes, I’d schedule a press conference and I would do it for like eight o’clock, right before the debate. Or no, make it five, right before the nightly news. Whatever. Just keep talking until they leave you, and do exactly what you said. They’re the focus. Everybody in the press thinks they’re the problem. The press will hang around for their statement ’til they get to ask them all the penetrating questions designed to destroy ’em. But then the question is, how much of what they do would you see? How much would they cut up and actually put on TV and the radio. Their excuse is that they don’t get covered. They would get covered today. Jennifer, thank you.

This is Rebecca in Pemberton, New Jersey. Thank you for waiting and great to have you here.

CALLER: Rush, I’m going to try to stay calm because I’m having a nervous breakdown over this. I’m in New Jersey, I’m in Obama land. Signs are everywhere where I live, okay?

RUSH: Right.

CALLER: And I was driving to the supermarket with my 81-year-old mother, I’m yelling at the radio, she’s yelling at me, it’s crazy, we’re so fired up. But this is the thing I want to tell you. Everything that you were saying about the meeting yesterday, it’s never going to be heard by the average American on NBC, CBS, or ABC. I feel like the McCain staff and the Republican leaders, who are my leaders, I feel they’re not doing a good job of communicating this at all, and it’s like they’re a punching bag, okay, and the Democrats are punching, and when they punch them they’re punching me, because that’s what I believe in, and I’m frustrated, and I’m angry, and I think that Republicans and independents, we are angry that Obama and the Democrats, they’re allowed to spout these arrogant statements without any kind of rebuttal. And that’s just the first thing I want to say.

RUSH: All right, first, let me answer this for you. I’m going to tell you why.

CALLER: Okay, please —

RUSH: All right.

CALLER: — because I’m losing it.

RUSH: Well, I understand. I can relate to you. This is how we get when our leaders are not ideologue leaders of a movement. George Bush is a fine man, but he’s a Republican. He’s not a conservative. He’s conservative on some things. But he doesn’t think it would be proper to be ideologically partisan while president because that sullies the office of the presidency. McCain, we all knew this going in, McCain, I hope he notices that the people he treats the nicest, the people he’s reached across the aisle, these are the ones that are lying about him, spinning, trying to blame it all on him, I hope he notices this. But even so McCain is not an ideologue, he’s not a conservative, he’s not going to go out there and react the same way you and I are. In fact, McCain loves to say — I have to paraphrase here. I can’t remember it exactly. McCain loves to say, ‘I’m an American first. I’m not a member of a party first.’ I understand what he’s trying to say, but why even be a member, why not just be an independent?

CALLER: Before you cut me off I just want to respond to that and I gotta say one more thing.

RUSH: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

CALLER: I really appreciate this, because I’ve been waiting for a long time.

RUSH: Don’t worry. We don’t cut people off here.

CALLER: Thank you. I’ve never called a radio show before. But I understand what you’re saying. But we’re going to lose this election, and I’m down in the trenches, and I’m just this average woman, 38-year-old woman in Pemberton, New Jersey, trying to talk to my friends and family about why we can’t have Obama in. Can I tell you something, Rush? I ordered signs from the McCain campaign over a month ago, and I still haven’t gotten my signs, and there’s Obama signs everywhere. I feel like I don’t have any support, and then I look to TV, and I don’t even have my Republican representatives supporting what I believe in. And I’m on their side, and I’m voting for them, and I’m down talking to everybody I can, looking like an idiot sometimes, but I don’t care. That’s how badly I don’t want Obama in. And one more thing I want to say. Can’t that video be released at the White House? Can’t we have someone release it so we can see what happened? Don’t we have that right?

RUSH: That’s a toughie. What happens in the cabinet room very seldom —

CALLER: Oh.

RUSH: — even when it’s not the cabinet.

CALLER: Okay. And you know what else? Sandy, I loved her, I loved what she said, but you said, ‘Are people going to remember this in three weeks?’ But there’s a foreign policy debate. Isn’t the next debate the economic debate? And the Democrats are going to have a chance to come back out with all these statements and remind everybody. I feel like we don’t have a chance, and that’s what’s taking me to the point where I’m just really losing it, and I’ve never been like this about politics in my life. Today is the day that I’ve just gone crazy. (laughing)

RUSH: I wish I knew what I could do for you.

CALLER: Well, I feel like you’re the only — and this might sound really corny, but listening to you on the radio I feel like you’re probably the only person who can hammer this away. We want to be supported. We want our ideas to be pushed out there with strength. We don’t want to be a punching bag anymore. We’re sick of it! I’m so sick of it.

RUSH: Look, totally, 100% agree with you. It’s so damn frustrating, you get tongue-tied and flustered trying to express the emotion you feel.

CALLER: Yeah. I’m emotional because I know deep in my heart, and this is from my father, who was a World War II veteran, my mother, who is a wonderful 81-year-old Italian woman who is for McCain and she’s yelling at me, she says, ‘Let Rush talk!’ She’s yelling at the radio, I’m yelling at the radio. You know, people are fired up because we know what’s at stake here. You know, they know, my father knows what it’s like to fight a war, but he went in there and he did whatever he could, because he believes in America, and we love America, we don’t hate America, and we don’t want Obama in there. I’m asking if anybody is listening from the campaign, or my Republican leaders, there’s people who are really trying to help, we’re trying to help any way we can. Please come to our rescue. That’s all I wanted to say. Thank you for letting me talk.

RUSH: You really want those McCain signs bad, don’t you?

CALLER: Can I tell you, I want my McCain signs, I got them for all my friends and family, I ordered McCain bumper stickers, and they don’t even have signs, and there’s Obama signs everywhere. We need support. Help. Somebody help me. Okay, I’m going to go have a cup of tea.

RUSH: You know what? It’s a shame for two reasons. One, all of this is so unnecessary, but number two, I think that the passion that you and Sandy today and, of course, I as host, reflect here every day, I think gazillions of Americans are just waiting for somebody to come along and make this actual, to realize this.

CALLER: Right. And you know why?

RUSH: It’s such a golden opportunity. There’s no way we should lose this election! We are so much more fired up than these people on the left.

CALLER: Yes.

RUSH: Passion, love for country will trump hate for America every election.

CALLER: Amen. And that’s why we were so excited about Sarah Palin’s speech because she got out there and she was tough and she said it like it was. I was jumping around my living room, my mom was high-fiving me. I’m not kidding. We were fired up because we want our views out there, and there’s a lot of us, and we need to be heard. Amen. That’s all I want to say.

RUSH: Okay. Rebecca, it’s great, it’s great that you’re out there. Don’t change. I don’t care what happens, don’t change.

CALLER: I’ll do my best and I really appreciate you letting me vent. That was very kind of you. (laughing)

RUSH: You feel better?

CALLER: I actually do. (laughing)

RUSH: See, I know. I get to go home every day thinking I got my say, and a lot of people heard me.

CALLER: Well, guess what?

RUSH: It’s therapeutic, there’s no question it’s therapeutic.

CALLER: You made my day. I got my say and I’m going to go relax a little bit.

RUSH: Have an adult beverage later this afternoon.

CALLER: Sounds great.

RUSH: All right.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Pamela in Tampa, thank you for waiting. You’re next on Open Line Friday. Hi.

CALLER: Hi, Rush!

RUSH: Hi.

CALLER: Hi, Rush!

RUSH: Hi!

CALLER: Hi, Rush! Oh, my gosh. It is such an honor to talk to you. I would love to tell you how you changed my life 20 years ago and made me a Republican, but that’s not why I called. I just had a comment about Barney Frank just saying the Republicans rebuking the president to support McCain. I thought that McCain was ‘George Bush III.’ What happened to that?

RUSH: Well, now, that’s an interesting observation out there, Pamela. Why, that’s an excellent point. McCain’s Bush III. They want McCain to come in and rebuke Bush. In fact, they want him to be Bush III! They want McCain to come in here and be Bush III on this. That’s a brilliant observation, illustrating again just how inconsistent these people all are. You know, folks, it’s almost as if this week we have seen the Democrats’ identity stolen. Who are they? They are as inconsistent as I can believe they’ve been, yet they’re still consistent enough with the Drive-Bys to have you get angered by them, but they are all over the ballpark. Dingy Harry Reid is saying, ‘We need McCain here. We need to know where McCain stands on this,’ and then five days later, Dingy Harry is saying, ‘Get McCain outta town. He shows up here and we didn’t want him.’ Who are these people?

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: The All-Female Caller Day continues in Open Line Friday, with Molly from Lexington, Kentucky. Great to have you here. Hello.

CALLER: Hey, Rush. Mega homeschooling, Sarah Palin-loving dittos from Kentucky.

RUSH: Gracias. Thanks very much.

CALLER: Hey, I just have a comment that I’m disgusted. I was watching Fox, and I, too. I wanted to throw something on the TV when I saw Harry Reid come on this morning. I’m just a little bit sick of the pass that they’re getting on saying that, you know, first they want McCain there, then they don’t want McCain there; then McCain comes there. As a taxpayer, I’m paying McCain to be there. I’m paying Obama to be there. That’s their job. Obama is down wherever he is, I don’t even know, just voting ‘present,’ you know?

RUSH: He opened the day today at the gym.

CALLER: (laughs)

RUSH: He then said: I’m going to Mississippi; call me if you need me.

CALLER: Yeah. Call me if you need me, Rush. This is what I’m paying these people to do. I’m paying McCain to be there. I’m paying him to go to Washington and do his job. We’re paying Obama to go to Washington and do his job, and then Harry Reid comes on and I just want to throw something, Rush. I was so disgusted at that news clip.

RUSH: Do not let the deranged, the disabled, the demented get to you this much.

CALLER: Well, Rush, I just gotta tell you: I echo the sentiments of your previous caller.

RUSH: You know what? I’ll tell you who’s really happy. Molly, are you married?

CALLER: Yes, I am.

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: I’m 41, and a stay-at-home mom. I homeschool one of my kids.

RUSH: That’s right, you said that. So we have you. We have Sandy from Chicago. We have Rebecca from New Jersey. All three of callers — Sandy, Rebecca and you, Molly — your husbands can come home and feel safe tonight. The coast is clear. You have vented. You have told me what-for. They can come home to a peaceful dinner tonight, and maybe even take you three out to dinner. It will be very peaceful. Another public service performed by me.

RUSH: Jennifer, Gainesville, Florida. You’re next. Welcome to the EIB Network. Hello.
