RUSH: I\u2019m just checking the e-mail. ‘Rush, Obama, you\u2019re not even talking about him. He\u2019s lying in all of his ads. He\u2019s lying about McCain and Social Security, lying about McCain and stem cells.\u2019 Hey, folks, he\u2019s lying about me. But why wouldn\u2019t Obama lie in his ads? First, he\u2019s a liberal. Second, he knows the Drive-Bys are never going to call him on it. Not en masse, not in a serious way, not in a way that hurts him. Folks, Barack Obama is down to one thing: All of the glitter and all of the aura of The Messiah and his hope-change rigmarole, it\u2019s all gone, it\u2019s vanished. All he\u2019s got is lies. It\u2019s all any liberal has running for office is lies. Why wouldn\u2019t he lie? He can\u2019t tell the truth about what he\u2019s gonna do, and he knows the Drive-Bys aren\u2019t going to call him on it. Get ready, the next six weeks a steady dose of lies from the Obama campaign. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi, Rush.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Earlier on you talked about or emphasized the commitment that the leftists have to changing the basic tenets on which our society is based and that they never give up.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Keep coming back for more and more.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right, right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I recognized that in 1941 when I was 15 years old. I looked at what was happening with FDR and the New Deal and decided that was socialism and fundamentally in conflict with what our country is all about.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, but look, we\u2019ve got aspects of the New Deal that just continued to grow and expand, and they spawned children.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, if I was upset in \u201941, how do you think I feel today?<\/p>\n

RUSH: (laughing) <\/p>\n

CALLER: In any event, I vowed never to vote for a Democrat and I\u2019ve been true to that vow all these years.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s right. You know, for every one of you that are angry out there, remember somebody\u2019s lived through this garbage longer than you have, and, look, you can still laugh about it. Well, but you\u2019re still a soldier in the fight.<\/p>\n

CALLER: You bet. But there\u2019s one thing I see that gives me some faith in the American citizens. One of the things that Roosevelt did was get the Wagner Act passed, which empowered industrial unions to extort from American industry.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And that was in 1935. Twenty years later, 1955 —<\/p>\n

RUSH: That was just six years after FDR was on TV explaining the Depression.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, I know. (laughing) So, in any event, since 1955 the percentage of the American business workforce that has been unionized has gone down every year.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s like, what, 11, 12% now. You\u2019re right, it used to be 33, 36%, they\u2019ve had a steady plunge.<\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s right. So that gives me faith that these people in the lower — well, not lower — in the more menial jobs who are asked to join a union, recognize that they\u2019re asking to break faith with the basics of our country.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Look, I don\u2019t want to depress you, I don\u2019t want to even make you unhappy here, but that 8%, 10%, whatever it is, unionized, that\u2019s not counting government workers.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh I know that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And the government, you add state, city, local, dogcatchers and all that, largest employer in the country is government.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I know that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: They\u2019re all union workers, and they work together to sabotage Republican government workers and appointees and so forth. But they\u2019re all unionized.<\/p>\n

CALLER: They\u2019re almost as bad as all those liberal bureaucrats who have been in positions for years who are also working to sabotage our country every day.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah. Now, they don\u2019t think of it as sabotage, they think of it as reform.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, I know.<\/p>\n

RUSH: They want to reform — (laughing) try the Soviet central planning system just one more time with the right people running in their minds. Look, I gotta run, here, Jim. It\u2019s great. Thanks so much. It\u2019s fabulous. He was 15 years old in 1941 when FDR brought socialism into the New Deal and how do we think he feels now after all this time.
