RUSH: The Drive-By Media — leading the Democrat Party — is now having a fearful reaction to the president\u2019s threat to close the border this week. I wonder why the president\u2019s thinking about doing that,<\/a> by the way?<\/p>\n

\"\"At any rate, the reaction that they\u2019re having, “This will be an economic catastrophe! It will be a calamity! It could cost us a billion and a half dollars a day,” or some such thing. What about the economic catastrophe of what is happening, the economic disaster that is happening? You might say, \u201cWhat do you mean economic disaster? The economy\u2019s going great guns.\u201d It is, but it\u2019s under pressure at all times.<\/p>\n

Do you remember it was just last week and the week before that and the week before that that the Democrats were making jokes out of Trump\u2019s emergency executive action? \u201cIt\u2019s not an emergency. This is the president violating the Constitution. There isn\u2019t any crisis.\u201d Now you\u2019ve got former Obama administration people admitting that what\u2019s happening on the southern border is an out-of-control crisis.<\/p>\n

We don\u2019t have any space to detain people. The asylum program is being bastardized beyond any intention we ever had for it. Here\u2019s a stat for you. The United States of America is home to 20% of the world\u2019s refugees and migrants. Now, folks, that was never intended to be, that has never been the intention of American policy. We have never had an open borders policy as sanctioned American law. All of this is illegal.<\/p>\n

\"\"We\u2019re getting to the point now with new caravans coming that some people are saying that even Trump\u2019s wall would not stop this. I frankly don\u2019t believe that. But that\u2019s how anti-wall the Democrats are. But even now just weeks after joking about Trump declaring a national emergency, now a bunch of Democrats are out there saying that it is. Now, red flags go up when this happens because I don\u2019t trust Democrats when Trump is in the equation ever and at all, so I\u2019m still plowing through that.<\/p>\n

But the economic calamity from closing the border? How about the economic calamity of the Green New Deal? How about the economic calamity of your standard, ordinary, everyday Democrat economic policies, for crying out loud? How about the economic calamity that was two terms of the Obama presidency? But that\u2019s what they\u2019re trying now, and the Drive-Bys are echoing it or at least they\u2019re starting and the Democrats are echoing it.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Here\u2019s Mike in Lake Ridge, Virginia. Great to have you on the EIB Network. Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi, Rush, how are you?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Fine and dandy, sir. Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Twenty-eight years of trying to get through, and the first time I get through, I\u2019m furious.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Uh-oh. Uh-oh. What about?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Last year, whenever, we look at Europe, and they\u2019re just flooded with I guess you call them illegals for their country. The people from Syria and what not, the strong, able-bodied working type people just flooding into their country, raping their women, killing them, and we as Americans could not believe that that would happen in a world that we currently live in. Yet last month alone a hundred freakin\u2019 thousand people made it over our border. And how many are stuck in waiting facilities, 20 grand? [sic] We\u2019re back to catch-and-release. It might as well just be like under friggin\u2019 Obama. What are we supposed to do?<\/p>\n

RUSH: I hear you.<\/p>\n

\"\"CALLER: We have the House. We have the Senate. The best president we could ever have happened to vote for got elected. And we still — it\u2019s 10 times worse than it was. And I\u2019m done with it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What are you gonna do?<\/p>\n

CALLER: What can I do? That\u2019s why I called. What can I do?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, the one thing you can do is not lose your passion over it. I can explain those first two years not in a satisfactory way. I\u2019m frustrated as you are by it. I was a little alarmed last week when the Mueller report comes in and Trump doubles down on Obamacare with all this news on the border. No, no, no, no. Boarder, boarder, boarder, immigration, immigration, immigration, wall, wall, wall, shut it down, whatever.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s go back to Merkel. You mentioned Angela Merkel, or Angela, I think she pronounces it. When they made the policy in Germany to open the border, she did it, and she made this big announcement, and she was very proud of what she was doing, because Germany\u2019s birthrate replacement level is below what they need to maintain their population.<\/p>\n

For whatever reasons, Germans aren\u2019t doing it, or if they are, nobody\u2019s getting pregnant. Enough babies are not being born to maintain the population. And so they need labor! Merkel needs people that were gonna work and take jobs. She welcomed them in. She was bragging about the 800,000 per year. Well, it only took about three months before she realized the people coming in had no interest in doing that, and so she had to eat crow and dial it back.<\/p>\n

\"\"And that\u2019s what we were warning about here is that over in Europe they thought they were be great humanitarians and they thought they were improving their economies, and it was a harbinger of things that could happen here. I maintain that they are happening in different ways.<\/p>\n

Now, as to the first two years, I agree. We had the House, we had the Senate, we had the White House. But, Mike, I\u2019m sorry to have you tell you that the first nine months of 2017 many Republicans in the House and Senate did not want to help Donald Trump accomplish anything because they believed he had colluded with Russia. And they believed he was gonna be found guilty. And they therefore didn\u2019t think any Trump agenda items would be valid if they passed.<\/p>\n

I cannot tell you the number of Republicans who bought hook, line, and sinker that entire ruse, that entire hoax. There were some Republicans, whether they believed it or not, were like the Democrats and resented that Trump had won and didn\u2019t want to do anything to help him cement his the presidency. In fact, you could say that that was the first year. In nine months with, some of the Republicans in the House began to loosen up.<\/p>\n

This is why the first repeal and replace Obamacare effort bombed out because Trump simply couldn\u2019t get enough Republicans to go along. And there was even a misunderstanding on the Trump team. Trump did believe — do not doubt me — Trump believed that after this acrimonious election and campaign that the country would come together.<\/p>\n

He believed that all that stuff going on during the campaign was typical of campaigns, Democrats campaigning against him, hating him. But he believed that everybody would unite because he thought that\u2019s what happens in the country. He told me this. He told me in February of 2017 that that\u2019s one of the things that surprised him. And I looked at him and said they\u2019re never gonna love you. These people are never gonna love you, they\u2019re never gonna accept you. But he didn\u2019t think that was the case.<\/p>\n

He thought that eventually there would be — and I think he thinks the same thing after the Mueller report. And it just isn\u2019t gonna be the case. Well, now he\u2019s much more up to speed on all this. And I think after the report he\u2019s gonna be laser focused these next two years. I just hope the border and immigration are part of the focus. He is threatening to close the border. But I understand your pique, p-i-q-u-e. And I share a lot of it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: A lot of people are scratching their heads over Trump\u2019s Homeland Security director begging for help at the border. Obamaites are now out saying it\u2019s a genuine crisis. And it doesn\u2019t seem anything\u2019s being done to stop it.
