RUSH: Here is Sarah Palin and the future of American politics, as I would describe it.<\/p>\n

PALIN: We were so blessed in April, Todd and I welcomed our littlest one into the world, a perfectly beautiful baby boy named Trig. You know, from the inside, no family ever seems typical, and that\u2019s how it is with us. Our family has the same ups and downs as any other, the same challenges, and the same joys. Sometimes even the greatest joys bring challenge. And children with special needs inspire a very, very special love. To the families of special needs — (applause) to the families of special needs children all across this country, I have a message for you: For years you\u2019ve sought to make America a more welcoming place for your sons and daughters. And I pledge to you that if we\u2019re elected, you will have a friend and advocate in the White House.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s a home run, folks. That\u2019s a missile seeking dead aim in the hearts of every American family, and it hit the target.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m sitting here laughing, you know, yesterday the Obama campaign said, (paraphrasing) ‘We\u2019re not going to attack Sarah Palin personally, but we\u2019re going to let the blogs and the media do that.\u2019 So Palin speaks last night, here comes Obama\u2019s campaign firing right back because they got nailed. Greetings, my friends, and welcome, Rush Limbaugh, the Excellence in Broadcasting Network, meeting and surpassing all audience expectations on a daily basis. The telephone number is 800-282-2882, and the e-mail address, ElRushbo@eibnet.com. <\/p>\n

It was really hard pulling audio sound bites today \u2019cause the temptation was just to play her whole speech. I mean, what do you leave out of this? My favorite lines, I don\u2019t remember it exactly, but she dug Michelle Obama. She was talking about her town, her little town and so forth, and other places like her little town all across America, where regardless the circumstances, the people who live there love and are proud of their country every day. (laughing) Zingo. And then, as it was pointed out to me, the military veteran from Lancaster, Ohio, to whom she blew a kiss, totally natural. This woman can be soft, cuddly, and then before you know it you have a fist buried in your gut. Mrs. Clinton I don\u2019t think could pull that off. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Last night at the Republican convention, Sarah Palin slamming the Drive-Bys.<\/p>\n

PALIN: I\u2019ve learned quickly these last few days that if you\u2019re not a member in good standing of the Washington elite, then some in the media consider a candidate unqualified for that reason alone. (boos) But here\u2019s a little news flash for those reporters and commentators. I\u2019m not going to Washington to seek their good opinion; I\u2019m going to Washington to serve the people of this great country! (wild applause and cheering)<\/p>\n

RUSH: You don\u2019t know what music to the ears of Republican voters that is! Yes, you do, because you are Republican. That is the sweetest music: I\u2019m not going there to be liked; I\u2019m not going there to be approved by these people. I\u2019m going there to do what I said I was going to do during the campaign. There was one point during the speech when she ripped the media, and the audience started shouting, ‘NBC, NBC.\u2019 We have time to squeeze one more in here before the break. Drill, baby, drill.<\/p>\n

PALIN: Our opponents say again and again that drilling will not solve all of America\u2019s energy problems — as if we didn\u2019t know that already. (audience laughter) But the fact that drilling, though, won\u2019t solve every problem is no excuse to do nothing at all. (cheering) Starting in January, in a McCain-Palin administration we\u2019re going to lay more pipelines and build more nuclear plants and create jobs with clean coal and move forward on solar, wind, geothermal, and other alternative sources. (cheering) We need American sources of resources. We need American energy brought to you by American ingenuity and produced by American workers. (cheering and applause)<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right, all right, all right. Now, remember that part of the speech. The Obama campaign last night, put out this panic fundraising e-mail saying that we didn\u2019t get one word from Sarah Palin on the energy problem in America today. Blatantly mischaracterizing, lying about her. Why do we all love Sarah Palin? ‘Cause we all know her. These kinds of women are all over our neighborhoods. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Sarah Palin last night, not only does she have more experience, she\u2019s a better speaker than Obama.<\/p>\n

PALIN: I\u2019ve noticed a pattern with our opponent, and maybe you have, too. We\u2019ve all heard his dramatic speeches before devoted followers, and there is much to like and admire about our opponent, but listening to him speak, it\u2019s easy to forget that this is a man who has authored two memoirs but not a single major law or even a reform, not even in the state Senate. But when the cloud of rhetoric has passed, when the roar of the crowd fades away, when the stadium lights go out, and those Styrofoam Greek columns are hauled back to some studio lot, when that happens, what exactly is our opponent\u2019s plan? What does he actually seek to accomplish after he\u2019s done turning back the waters and healing the planet?<\/p>\n

RUSH: And then she turned in the knife.<\/p>\n

PALIN: My fellow citizens, the American presidency is not supposed to be a journey of personal discovery. This world of threats and dangers, it\u2019s not just a community, and it doesn\u2019t just need an organizer. And though both Senator Obama and Senator Biden have been going on lately about how they are always, quote, fighting for you, let us face the matter squarely. There is only one man in this election who has ever really fought for you. There is only one man in this election who has ever really fought for you in places where winning means survival and defeat means death. And that man is John McCain.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s impossible to pick out the best parts of the speech. I didn\u2019t want it to end. That\u2019s the best description I can give you. I did not want the speech to end. I did not want the night to end. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Andy in San Francisco. Andy, thank you for the call, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Rush, thank you, man. Hey, I don\u2019t know if you caught Sam Donaldson last night. I was amazed at how incensed he was that Sarah Palin got past him and all his cronies in the vetting process. At the end of the day, you got done listening to Sam Donaldson, you would have thought the only way somebody could become a VP or a president in our country is if they went on some Sunday program on one of the Drive-Bys.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s what they all think. That\u2019s what they all think, Andy.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s amazing.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Eleanor Clift from the McLaughlin Group said, ‘Nobody knows this woman. I\u2019ve never been to lunch with her. How could she be a nominee?\u2019<\/p>\n

CALLER: I was listening to Sam, it was the funniest thing. He could only be semi-biased for about five minutes, then he gets animated and he has to say something vitriolic; and then it was like, ‘Oh, funny! I\u2019ve been able to release,\u2019 and then he\u2019d be semi-biased for a little bit and then he\u2019d get all animated and have to say something mean again. These guys just cannot cover themselves up for what they really are: just very biased idiots. Blithering idiots.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s gone beyond bias. They\u2019re openly now advertising their agenda. They\u2019ve always been. What\u2019s really bothering you about them is their arrogance, their arrogance and their sense of self-importance and their sense that the country can only survive if they approve everybody who wants to lead it. They don\u2019t have any idea, like you, what we\u2019re reacting to. They have no idea how offensive that is, \u2019cause the American people say, ‘Who the hell are you people? Who are you to decide who our candidates are going to be? Who are you to decide who we\u2019re going to nominate? Who are you? You\u2019re just a bunch of liberals, and you have a view of this country that doesn\u2019t reflect the view of a majority of people. Who the hell are you people?\u2019 That\u2019s the reaction that they\u2019re getting and that\u2019s the reaction that you had to Sam Donaldson. I didn\u2019t know Sam Donaldson was still doing this stuff. I don\u2019t watch the networks. I can\u2019t handle it. I know they bring him out I guess on a consultant basis. Cokie Roberts comes in now and then, too, to back up the Junior League that they\u2019ve got over at ABC now. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Hello, Rush, mega lipstick wearing pit bull dittos from Ohio.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you. Thank you, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I just wanted to say that in the afterglow of Governor Palin\u2019s speech last night, I haven\u2019t felt this way since 1980 and 1994, and it just leads me to believe that this country is really blessed, that we always come up with ordinary people that do extraordinary things.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yep.<\/p>\n

CALLER: The list is endless. You\u2019re on that list. It\u2019s just amazing. This is the future of the Republican Party. When people talk about Rush Babies, Governor Palin is a Reagan Baby, and you can just tell, everything about her, her self-confidence, her delivery. Without being groomed for this job, she was groomed for this job.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Because she\u2019s a natural?<\/p>\n

CALLER: A natural, just totally a natural.<\/p>\n

RUSH: She\u2019s authentic.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. And every issue that liberalism has forced upon this society since the sixties is coming to the forefront in this campaign, and Sarah Palin is representing what\u2019s right about this country.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I want to warn you about something. You make a good point. Up until now they felt like this was in the bag, coronation, just a matter of time. Now they\u2019re in a state of fear. They know it isn\u2019t going to be easy. They\u2019re going to get vicious. This is what they always do. Just be prepared to be offended royally at what Democrats say and do and the Drive-Bys amplifying it and reporting it, \u2019cause now they feel threatened, and they can\u2019t beat this woman and John McCain on ideas.
