CALLER: Hi, Mr. Limbaugh.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s an honor talking to you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I did this for all the right reasons, but I looked into windmill power to see if I could save myself money. I was going to save the earth with this, okay? And it turns out that these things are expensive. I called Bergey, which makes a lot of these windmill things, and you\u2019ve gotta buy the windmill, the generators, the tower. You have to install it. You have to put the electrical line in. You have to put in a special two-way electrical meter with power —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait, wait, wait, wait, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Hold on just a second, there might be people confused here. A windmill needs electricity and power lines for what?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, for my home. I was going to look at this to see if I could do this at my home and —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes, yes, yes, but, you see, most people think that the windmill produces the power, that it doesn\u2019t need any electricity attached to it. You\u2019re talking about lines from the windmill to your house?<\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s right. That\u2019s right. I mean, I\u2019m saying, you know, it\u2019s not just —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a minute. Wait a minute. The windmill is not going to create electricity — it doesn\u2019t work. There has to be something in the windmill that creates the wind energy to electricity. That\u2019s the turbine, right? <\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: So the turbine is going to be running and making a lot of noise. A turbine, folks, is what you\u2019ll find in a jet engine. So you\u2019re going to be spending how much money generating power to power the windmill?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, no, no, no. The point is that — and this one comes down to money. I got an estimate of $50,000 to put this thing in, okay? Now, this isn\u2019t even getting past the fact that I\u2019d have to go to the county and get a special zoning variance, et cetera, et cetera. I\u2019m just saying, you know —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, wait \u2019til your neighbors find out you\u2019re going to put this thing in, and then did you research after you spent all this money —<\/p>\n

CALLER: I didn\u2019t spend the money.<\/p>\n

RUSH: If you would have, but after you spend the money, did you research what do you do when there\u2019s no wind that day?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, that\u2019s one of the problems because you can maybe go off the grid two-thirds of the time, which means that maybe after 25 years you\u2019ll get a return on your investment of $50,000.<\/p>\n

RUSH: But that\u2019s not the point of all this. The point of all this environmental wacko stuff is it\u2019s going to cost us a lot of money. We deserve to pay this because we have destroyed the planet, or almost, and so how much it costs is irrelevant because we\u2019re saving the planet with this stuff.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, you know, maybe someone like Barry could do that with his $1.5 million mansion, he\u2019s got $50,000 kicking around, but I\u2019m just saying that for most folks, and I\u2019d like to say that I\u2019m doing better than most, and so I look at this thing, but I think, you know, just throwing down numbers —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Personal question. How big is your house?<\/p>\n

CALLER: About 3,400 square feet.<\/p>\n

RUSH: 3,400 square feet. <\/p>\n

CALLER: With a basement.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Counting the basement?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, no, and a basement.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And the basement. Well, let\u2019s give you 5,000 square feet.<\/p>\n

CALLER: All right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s way more square feet than the hut in which George Hussein Obama lives. Now, a windmill might work for him, but how many — (laughing)<\/p>\n

CALLER: The point I\u2019m making is–<\/p>\n

RUSH: Get some spray on DDT, too, but how many windmills would you need for your house? Would one do it?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No. No. I mean, you know, see, but the point is that it\u2019s all wind dependent. It\u2019s just not enough wind but too much wind because once you go above 50 miles an hour, you gotta shut the windmill down or it will just rip apart.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And you can get those kind of winds out in Wyoming.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Easily.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Easily. I mean, you know, we\u2019ve clocked stuff at our house at 70-plus miles an hour.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, this is interesting. I like this. This proves we have brilliant people in this audience. Thanks very much out there, Gene, for the call. He actually looked into this to find out what it would cost him personally just to put up a windmill in his backyard to power his house. Whereas most people sit around and think the government is going to do it for them and there are going to be these windmill farms and the windmill farms are going to work wonderfully. Speaking of this, folks, speaking of all this energy stuff, do you remember a couple weeks ago I had told you I had seen this marvelous, magnificent show on oil on The History Channel, Modern Marvels, The Secrets of Oil. It is being rerun on the History Channel at seven o\u2019clock Eastern tomorrow night, Saturday night, the 23rd. Set it up, TiVo it, record it, what have you. <\/p>\n

You\u2019ve got to watch this. It is fascinating. It is educational. It has things in it about oil that nobody\u2019s ever taught you. You will be stunned and amazed. The first product that they indicate is made with oil is aspirin. Aspirin has petroleum products in it. You will just be stunned. You\u2019ll be stunned at the level of expertise and the engineering feat that it is to refine oil and to recycle it and rerefine it and go the other process, go the other way. You\u2019ll be fascinated to see what is done with a barrel of oil. You\u2019ll be fascinated to learn what some of the residues of the whole refining process are. What is done with a barrel of oil will just dazzle you, and you will see that there is no way to do without it. Just simply is no way to do without it and maintain the lifestyle that we at present have.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
