RUSH: Here\u2019s Carl calling from Tokyo, Japan. Carl, it\u2019s nice to have you on the EIB Network, sir, hello.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, hello, Rush. Thanks for taking the call.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You bet.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I just wanted to talk to you a little bit about McCain and his endorsement of cap-and-trade.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It really has me worried.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes, it\u2019s absolutely insane. It\u2019s stupid. It\u2019s silly.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I don\u2019t know how I can vote for a guy who\u2019s going to put something in effect that\u2019s going to create a theocracy.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, here\u2019s the way you look at this. With McCain I think it\u2019s got less of a chance of happening. Obama\u2019s for it, too, on this issue. When it comes to climate change, as we stand now, McCain and Obama are not that much different. So you almost throw that issue out, \u2019cause we\u2019re going to get that no matter who wins. I think when you look at McCain\u2019s other positions that he\u2019s taken on energy recently versus Obama and the Democrats, it\u2019s far more advantageous, McCain\u2019s campaign is, his position on energy, it\u2019s a winning issue.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay. I understand that, but you\u2019re asking me to trust a guy who\u2019s sitting there telling me that he wants Lieberman as the VP and he tells me that he wants to have conservatives or strict constructionists on the Supreme Court, and how am I going to trust him if —<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s the question. That\u2019s why this vice presidential pick is so important. That\u2019s the message that we\u2019re trying get through here. If he does pick a pro-choice — and, by the way, he has not said, McCain himself has not said he wants Lieberman. The people in his campaign want Lieberman. Obviously, he\u2019s not going to come out and reject it, but it\u2019s other people that are planting this, trial balloon or what have you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m sorry, but McCain, you know, I\u2019ve been following this guy for years, you know, Gang of 14, I\u2019ve been following for a long time. This man plays to the cameras. I can see him talking the talk right now, but is he going to walk the walk should he become the president? That\u2019s my concern. How can I believe it?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Sorry, I can\u2019t help you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughing) Well, that\u2019s my concern right now.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You are identifying a lot of people\u2019s concerns. We\u2019re doing the best we can here. I think some progress is being made in this vice presidential pick. If he gets it, don\u2019t forget there\u2019s Bob Barr running out there, running on the Libertarian ticket, and if this pick goes the wrong way that\u2019s going to get Bob Barr some additional percentage points.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Sure.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And guarantee old Obama a win.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Sure.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s utter disaster awaits. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Why should I vote for the guy? I don\u2019t get it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Why should you vote for McCain?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Very simple. Two words: The Messiah. We don\u2019t want Barack Obama anywhere near the Oval Office of the White House in Washington, DC.
