He\u2019s just a good ol\u2019 codger, doesn\u2019t mean anybody any harm.&#8221; This guy is flat-out dangerous as all of these other Democrat candidates are! This guy is an unapologetic communist. Don\u2019t give me the &#8220;socialist&#8221; stuff with crazy Bernie. He\u2019s out defending the Castros and defending Cuba. Washington Free Beacon: &#8220;Sanders Bashed [the New York Times] in 1986 for Not Telling the \u2018Truth\u2019 About Communism &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Sen. Bernie Sanders in 1986 spoke of being &#8216;very excited\u2019 about watching the late Cuban dictator Fidel Castro\u2019s revolution &#8216;rising up against rather ugly rich people\u2019 and lambasted the New York Times for not telling the &#8216;real truth\u2019 about communism in Nicaragua, according to a newly surfaced video. The Reagan Battalion posted the video on Twitter on Thursday, following an earlier video from 1985 in which [Crazy Bernie], then the mayor of Burlington, Vermont, praises Castro and slams then-President&#8221; Ronaldus Magnus.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Within the second video, which was filmed at the University of Vermont in 1986, Sanders speaks of his excitement of watching Castro &#8216;rising up against the ugly rich people.\u2019 &#8216;But I remember, for some reason or another, being very excited when Fidel Castro made the revolution in Cuba &#8212; I was a kid and I remember reading that &#8212; and it just seemed right and appropriate that poor people were rising up against rather ugly rich people,\u2019 Sanders says in the video.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Yeah, that\u2019s been some uprising of the poor in Cuba. What did they get, a couple of bucks a month and a free rice cooker if they\u2019re lucky? Their infrastructure is crumbling. They\u2019ve got nothing! They die on the open seas trying to get out of there, and Bernie Sanders is celebrating &#8220;the uprising&#8221; of the poor? In other countries people don\u2019t line up for food. The rich get the food, and the poor starve to death.'&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>At least where they are lining up for food they get it? This guy raised $6 million in 24 hours. This guy nearly won the Democrat nomination from Hillary Clinton. The guy is brain dead. The guy poses an existential threat to this country like all the other Democrat candidates do, and he\u2019s out there getting away with being this old codger-type guy. &#8220;Yeah, he\u2019s like my old grandpa, man &#8212; and this guy wants everything for free, including education.&#8221; Why do you need a job if everything is going to be free?<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s gotten tired and worn out to ask where the money is going to come from. Do you know that Bernie Sanders &#8212; that old codger, nice old grandfather-type, big socialist &#8212; has three houses? He &#8220;has amassed a personal fortune that includes three homes and millions of dollars in the bank. Sanders announced his candidacy for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination on Tuesday, branding himself as a &#8216;grassroots\u2019 left-wing socialist who advocates for &#8216;economic\u2019 and &#8216;social\u2019 justice. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But despite Sanders\u2019 efforts to position himself as your average man of the people, Sanders has a history of acquiring millions of dollars in property and assets. Sanders owns three different homes \u2014 including one $575,000 four-bedroom lakefront house in the Champlain Islands in Vermont, a Washington, D.C., rowhouse in the Capitol Hill neighborhood, and a residence in Burlington, Vermont&#8230; Sanders also made more than $1 million from book royalties and cash advances,&#8221; and he collected $6 million in campaign donations in one day.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-241673\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Bernie-Everything-Free.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"585\" height=\"270\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Bernie-Everything-Free.jpg 585w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Bernie-Everything-Free-300x138.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 585px) 100vw, 585px\" \/>Let me ask this: &#8220;Why is Bernie Sanders not offering to share any of that $6 million with other candidates?&#8221; (interruption) No, no. I\u2019m not trying to make a point. I\u2019m dead serious here. If these people believe it, then they believe it. If it\u2019s not fair for anybody to have any more than anybody else, then Bernie Sanders should be divvying up that $6 million up and giving it out equally for everybody else running for president on the Democrat side.<\/p>\n<p>Is he going to do that? Hell, no! No freakin\u2019 way under the sun! Because Bernie Sanders is a hypocrite, like every one of them are or is &#8212; $6 million! Does he feel any guilt? He\u2019s got $6 million in 24 hours. I don\u2019t think Kamala Harris got that much, and, clearly, Amy Klobuchar didn\u2019t. How can Bernie do this? I imagine socialists say, &#8220;You\u2019re misrepresenting socialism, Rush. This is not what we believe.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The hell it isn\u2019t! You sure as hell want to take everything that everybody has that is $1 or more than what you\u2019ve got. Well, Bernie Sanders has millions and millions more than what a lot of people have and he\u2019s not being asked to share it. It\u2019s not being forcefully taken from him, and he\u2019s making no effort to say it isn\u2019t fair that he should have so much. Why is it? Why do these people get away with this hypocrisy? She\u2019s making our people a bunch of lazy (garbled). His basic point was that the more and more people sign on to and adopt the belief that AOC knows what she\u2019s talking about, the greater the peril we all face, because she is a blithering idiot &#8212; and she is. Look at the people running for the presidency on the Democrat side. It\u2019s Jurassic Park, for all intents and purposes, particularly at the top of the ticket. I mean, there is Plugs up there, Joe Biden, who remains the front-runner, and then Crazy Bernie, and&#8230; (sigh) Well, I don\u2019t want to get more specific here, but it\u2019s clear. Cortez owns social media, and that\u2019s all the media needs to be totally impressed.<\/p>\n<p>You know what I think about social media? I think it\u2019s the playground of the absolute worst aspects of our society. And I think what the media has done to social media to legitimize it&#8230; You know, he media used to go out and do Story A, Story B. You go find credible experts, sources, whatever, and get their take on things. That\u2019s what you published. That\u2019s gone now. Instead of that, the media simply goes to Twitter &#8212; and if anything happens that causes Twitter to blow up, &#8220;Man, oh, man! That\u2019s news,&#8221; and they start quoting random tweets from people nobody knows.<\/p>\n<p>No idea who they are. Nobody really knows where they are. But they become stand-ins for public opinion. They are no more stand-ins for public opinion than anybody randomly chosen on a sidewalk anywhere would be, but they are presented so. The media has this idea that what they think and what they believe is what the majority of Americans believe. So they find that reflected in social media and they start&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Every news story today &#8212; every news story &#8212; has at least two or three tweets in it from people you never heard of as stand-ins for public opinion. Well, since Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the queen of social media, she has all the credibility in the world. I was just reading an interview with a well-known New York Times columnist who ought to know better, who couldn\u2019t stop praising Cortez. &#8220;She\u2019s the future! She\u2019s young! She\u2019s fresh! She doesn\u2019t take any guff! She\u2019s a fighter! She gets in these Republicans\u2019 faces and she tells them what for!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>They love her for this, never minding the fact that she is an ignoramus. That doesn\u2019t even enter the equations. This is what our caller is pointing out. As more and more people sign on to this, then great damage is going to be done to society and culture at large. There\u2019s something to that, I can understand people having that fear, but, again, the media is going to make a hero out of anybody that they think destroys conservatives. Anybody they think that makes mincemeat of conservatives or stands up to them, they\u2019ll make them big stars. That\u2019s what is happening to Cortez.
