RUSH: I got an email during the break: “Rush, what did you actually say that the media thinks forced Trump to stop signing that continuing resolution?” You know, that\u2019s a good question. Here\u2019s what I was saying at the moment I got the message from someone close to the president. I went back to RushLimbaugh.com and got the transcript.<\/p>\n

It was December the 19th, which happens to be my beautiful wife\u2019s birthday, and I was saying, this is textbook. It\u2019s a textbook example of what the Drive-By Media calls compromise. Trump gets nothing and the Democrats get everything, including control of the House in a few short weeks.<\/p>\n

In fact, I just alluded to this. Trump\u2019s gonna get less than nothing because this compromise strips out the $1.8 billion for the wall that the Senate Appropriations Committee had already approved weeks ago. So that\u2019s gone in this deal too. Not only is there not gonna be five billion, there isn\u2019t gonna be $1.6 billion that was already allocated, so it\u2019s an even better compromise in the minds of the Drive-By Media and the denizens of the swamp.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s what I was saying. I was reading that Trump is gonna sign the CR that didn\u2019t even have the $1.6 billion that the Senate had approved. And it was the line that the president\u2019s even going to get less, that he\u2019s gonna take less, he\u2019s gonna get less than nothing. That\u2019s the line the media first quoted. And so they took that, and it was during that little monologue there that I got a text message. It might have been in the break right after that that somebody said, “Rush, the president wants me to assure you that he\u2019s not signing this. He was never gonna sign this. It\u2019s not accurate what\u2019s being reported.”<\/p>\n

So after the break, I came back, and I announced that to everybody. That has now become Trump was on the verge of signing until I criticized him on the radio and somebody ran in the Oval Office in a panic, \u201cMr. President, Mr. President, Rush Limbaugh says no,\u201d and Trump stopped and announced he wasn\u2019t. That\u2019s how this all got started. I was reacting to media stories, the media was calling it a Great Compromise. The media was celebrating what Trump was doing, a Great Compromise, and I was explaining what that means.<\/p>\n

A typical Republican compromise with Democrats means Republicans lose everything. So that\u2019s what I said. We headlined it later that day at RushLimbaugh.com with this: \u201cA Great Day For The Swamp, Democrats Get Everything, Trump Gets Less Than Nothing.<\/a>\u201d That was the headline link to the story which contained the monologue. So it was that that the media took and ran with and concocted a genuine story, something that was not true.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
