RUSH: This is Nina. Nina is one of my all-time favorite, top-ten female names. Nina is in Youngstown, Ohio. Nice to have you, Nina.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi, Rush. My name is Nina, like you said, and I want to tell you something, okay?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m not here to argue with you, but I am going to tell you: I\u2019m 39 years old, and I\u2019m half European and half American.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What part of Europe?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Um, Greek-Italian.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Greek-Italian.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes. So I lived 20 years in Europe. I lived four years in London, seven years in Germany. I\u2019ve been in Italy and Spain. I speak Greek, English, and German, and I lived 20 years in the US.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What are you doing in Youngstown?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hold on. (snorts) That\u2019s — That\u2019s besides the point. It\u2019s —<\/p>\n

RUSH: (laughing)<\/p>\n

CALLER: This is what I wanted to tell you, okay? It\u2019s not fair for you to knock down Europe because I\u2019m going to give you an example. Yes, Mussolini, Hitler, they were the anti-Christs of their time. <\/p>\n

RUSH: (sighs)<\/p>\n

CALLER: But to the people over there, now, Bush is the anti-Christ for them. Now, I\u2019m going to tell you something, because I lived in both, okay? I\u2019ve seen good and bad there, and I\u2019ve seen good and bad here. I\u2019ve seen it both. <\/p>\n

RUSH: (sighs)<\/p>\n

CALLER: Listen to me. Listen to me. The United States has a big heart. They embrace everybody. They will open their doors to everybody. They will say, ‘Come in if you believe what we believe.\u2019 But it has also made some mistakes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, we scrapped that a long time ago. You don\u2019t have to believe what we believe to get in.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, if I want to live here, I have to believe the same beliefs.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No you don\u2019t.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Because we have to match.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes! <\/p>\n

RUSH: No.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s like a marriage!<\/p>\n

RUSH: No.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s like a marriage. <\/p>\n

RUSH: (laughs) Right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: If we don\u2019t have common goals, common beliefs, how we gonna make it work? <\/p>\n

RUSH: (laughing)<\/p>\n

CALLER: But what I\u2019m saying to you is this, okay? I\u2019ve seen wrong in both sides of the world. I\u2019ve been discriminated there; I\u2019ve been discriminated here. I\u2019ve been loved there; I\u2019ve been loved here. But what I\u2019m saying to you is this, okay? Sometimes the United States does not use wisdom where they put their nose in. Because, I\u2019m going to tell you something. If you\u2019re over there and you\u2019re fighting for the oil and you have oil sources here and you\u2019re looking desperate to them, who got the upper hand? They do! Because, let me tell you something, if I got something and —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, jeez.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — I want the same thing from you, this is what I\u2019m going to do. I\u2019m going to pull back and say, ‘You know what? I\u2019m going to use what I got. I don\u2019t really need you like that.\u2019<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re missing the whole point of why I said what I said about Europe!<\/p>\n

CALLER: I understand why you said it, okay?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Then tell me. Tell me why I said what I said.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m not offended by that, okay? But what I\u2019m saying to you —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, then why are you calling me and reaming me up one wall and down the other here then?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, I\u2019m just telling you that I\u2019ve seen the best and bad of both worlds. That\u2019s number one. Number two…<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, you\u2019re up to about number 25 now.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Relax. Take a deep breath.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019ve been doing that.<\/p>\n

CALLER: About the presidential campaign, let me tell you something. I give respect to McCain, okay, because he did fight in the war. I respect him. Obama can make a change —<\/p>\n

RUSH: So, what does this got to do…?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Listen, listen. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Nina?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Obama can make a change.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What does…?<\/p>\n

CALLER: He can make a change, if he doesn\u2019t forget —<\/p>\n

RUSH: This is not about Obama. This was not about the presidential campaign.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I know that. I\u2019m just giving you some comments on different issues.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Nina, you didn\u2019t hear me and I want you to try one more time. I want you to look at me.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m giving you my comments on different issues, because I can\u2019t be calling you every day on different issues. <\/p>\n

RUSH: And you\u2019ve done so, and you have now been interrupted. <\/p>\n

CALLER: What I\u2019m saying to you now — <\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, look at me. The commentary that I gave on Europe had to do with the fact that we have a distinguished, distinct American culture here. We have our own Constitution, we have our own set of laws, and we have people in this country trying to undermine thought of trying to tell us that Europeans are the sophisticated ones, that we need to become more socialist in our politics. We need higher unemployment. We need more welfare payments. We need a higher minimum wage. We need to emulate the Europeans. The Europeans cannot defend themselves, Nina. If they are attacked, guess who they call? Good old Uncle Sam, who shows up every time.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, and they call United Nations, exactly.<\/p>\n

RUSH: They do not call the United Nations! They call Uncle Sam! They call the United States. The United Nations is worthless!<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay, but what I\u2019m saying to you, I agree with you on some of the things, okay? <\/p>\n

RUSH: (sigh)<\/p>\n

CALLER: Like the British people, they are paying for the queen, okay, when they don\u2019t need to spend all that money while their people are starving.<\/p>\n

RUSH: We\u2019re not talking about d\u2019queen!<\/p>\n

CALLER: I understand that, but —<\/p>\n

RUSH: (sigh)<\/p>\n

CALLER: The point I\u2019m trying to make to you is this. You talked about we should not copy Europeans. I\u2019m going to tell you something. Europeans have some laws the same like the United States, okay? <\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re taking this —<\/p>\n

CALLER: They copy the United States on certain things because —<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re taking this way, way, way, way, way too personally.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, no, no, no! <\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes, you are.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m saying they do copy the United States on some things, in their laws. They are good.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I am talking about American liberals who want to sell this country out, Nina! They say we should emulate Europe. If we\u2019re going to copy somebody, maybe we should make sure somebody\u2019s better than we are? And in many ways, there\u2019s nothing worth emulating, particularly the toilets. You know what I\u2019m talking about.<\/p>\n
