RUSH: Jeff in Pittsburgh. Hello, sir. Nice to have you with us.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, Rush, you\u2019re the man.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: A little change of subject. Well, you talked about environmental policies and oil earlier, and I was just wondering what your take is on the idea that we need to boost up the economy with tomorrow\u2019s energy, you know, government-mandated green jobs and new technology. Kind of like the environmentalist economics, which is an oxymoron if I\u2019ve ever heard one. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Let me tell you something. This whole notion of ‘green jobs\u2019 is nothing but a scam. It is nothing but a sham. If the green movement, if the environmentalists got what they want, we would lose jobs.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: We would slow the economy down to the point we\u2019d lose jobs. Let me explain this green stuff for you. Have you noticed that a lot of American corporations are signing on and going green? Like General Electric is going green. And you\u2019ll watch once a month, they\u2019ll force their network, MSNBC, to do 18 or 12 hours on green this and green that and they\u2019ve got little logos and icons, and their set turns green and they do reports on what all they\u2019re doing to be green. The Fox Television Network put out a press release last January saying that the production of the TV show \u201924\u2019 is going to be done in a green fashion, meaning with less lights and less air-conditioning and so forth. Not in the plot of the show. But all these retailers, even some car dealers are going green. Here\u2019s why. They believe two things: One, they believe that the American people have bought into the notion that America is responsible for global warming and, therefore, America is responsible for fixing it. <\/p>\n

And they think that since a majority of people believe it, they don\u2019t want to fight the issue; they just want to sell products and market to people. So if they believe that a majority of American consumers believe this green garbage, then they\u2019re going to get on the bandwagon. But here\u2019s the real secret. If you are American corporation A, and you manufacture a product, it is much easier to convince people to buy that product thinking that they are doing something good for the green movement, for global warming, for pollution or whatever, and it\u2019s much easier to sell the sale of that product on this basis rather than, ‘Hey, buy this so that our profits go up! Buy this so that our stock price goes up.\u2019 The corporations are able to go green and sell these products on a green basis, taking themselves out of the equation. They\u2019re not only taking themselves out of the equation. They\u2019re getting, in their opinion, added PR. <\/p>\n

So people are going to go out and buy whatever it is — a toothbrush, I don\u2019t care what it is — that\u2019s being marketed as a green product. It will be much easier for people to buy it if they think the profits are going to save the planet rather than to enrich the company. So corporations love it. You cannot assume that \u2019cause all these corporations are going green, that they\u2019ve signed onto this global warming business. They\u2019re just marketers, and brilliant marketers do not tell you the marketing plan. They execute it; they implement it. There are many corporations that are actually furious with this but they\u2019ve got no choice because their market research is saying that right now people are in the mood to buy green because it makes them feel good. So they gotta go along. The whole thing is marketing and it\u2019s brilliant because it\u2019s working, but it\u2019s a scam at the same time and it\u2019s based on a hoax.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
