CALLER: It\u2019s down, Rush. Hang on a second. Okay, Rush, it is so good to talk to you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Listen, I enjoyed your comment earlier about the bonding and Sex and the City stuff, but I suggest, I\u2019m a Vietnam-era honest to God United States Marine Corps combat veteran, and my two kids are both career Navy, and I suggest that we do bond, especially in the military, more especially in combat. There\u2019s no closer bond than that, brother.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Absolutely true, absolutely true. That\u2019s the kind of bonding that our liberal friends who think Sex and the City is great don\u2019t like, because what are you bonding in? <\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: How are you guys portrayed in much of the media today? Rapists, murderers, thugs, no evidence and Jack Murtha will come out and accuse you of it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, happened in the sixties, too. I remember coming back from Vietnam in \u201968, same exact thing.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah. Well, God bless you guys, because I know you hear it, it probably gets to you, but it doesn\u2019t deter you, and that\u2019s the important thing.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, it doesn\u2019t, and, Rush, can I say a big hello to my kids? My son is Chief Petty Officer John Wolfson. He\u2019s career Navy, he\u2019s a Seabee up in Virginia Beach and my daughter is Petty Officer First Class Amy Wolfson. She\u2019s on a guided missile cruiser out of Japan. They listen to you every day, love you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, thank you very much, and welcome them to the program. Nice to know that, Finley. You gotta be a very proud father.<\/p>\n

CALLER: You betcha. No kidding. And my wife is career civil service working for the Marine Corps here at Camp Lejeune, so we\u2019re a military family.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What are you doing now?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m retired. I spent 15 in the Marine Corps and —<\/p>\n

RUSH: That-a-way.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — then spent seven in the Navy. I retired in the Navy as a senior chief petty officer. I\u2019m a working musician right now.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You are a working musician?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What do you do?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I\u2019m a choral conductor and a church musician, and are you ready for this? Don\u2019t get upset, but I\u2019m a classical music announcer on public radio, too. (laughing)<\/p>\n

RUSH: Why would that upset me? I love classical music.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s an NPR station.<\/p>\n

RUSH: (laughing) I love classical music, and wherever you go to get it announced, that\u2019s fine with me. Everybody has to be somewhere, and if NPR is as good as you can do, then that\u2019s fine.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, that\u2019s true. I do classical music as a local program in eastern North Carolina and listen to you on the way home when I get off the air.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I appreciate that. Finley, thanks so much for the call.<\/p>\n
