RUSH: Ruth in Hemet, California, it\u2019s great to have you here.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Thank you, Rush. Thank you for your continuing education. I\u2019m calling regarding the bonfires on the beaches?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes.<\/p>\n

CALLER: The government has already restricted many uses of campsites in the mountains. Now they\u2019re working on the beaches — and by extension, I think, so many people celebrate the Fourth of July with bonfires and they\u2019re on the beaches, many of them. I think that\u2019s part of the whole conspiracy, and I\u2019m very slow to believe in conspiracies.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You think it\u2019s actually related to July Fourth celebrations, celebrating America that they want to stop the bonfires?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, eventually that\u2019s what it will lead to because people go to the beaches to celebrate holidays, especially Fourth of July, which is so important to us.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay. Here\u2019s my point. I no longer care about their motivations. Motivations are interesting and it\u2019s fascinating to speculate — and it may be that sometimes speculation or motivation could be instructive and educational. But just like I don\u2019t care why Al Qaeda hates us… I don\u2019t care why people who want to wipe us out hate us; I want to sit down and talk to them and find out. I want to eliminate the threat. That means get rid of them. That means make sure that Obama gets nowhere near 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. By the same token, I don\u2019t care where the Seattle council or whoever it is, is going to ban bonfires. I don\u2019t care what their motivation is! I know what it is. It\u2019s simply the denial of individual liberty based against a concept that we\u2019re destroying the planet, blah, blah, blah. I don\u2019t care! All I care about is stopping this! All I care about is getting these people defeated and restoring and maintaining individual liberty. Pure and simple. I don\u2019t care why they\u2019re doing what they\u2019re doing. I know why they\u2019re doing it. They are leftists! They don\u2019t like this country. That\u2019s why they want to take it over and turn it into something they do like. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Olivia in Dallas. I\u2019m glad you called. Welcome to the EIB Network.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi, thank you for taking my call.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I only started listening to you this year, around March.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wow.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. (giggles)<\/p>\n

RUSH: Are you up to speed? It only takes six weeks to get the context of this program.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, but, um, I remember you talking to one of the callers about how you\u2019re afraid that some Democrats are going to swamp the Republican Party and not really stay true to the party, but I think there are conservatives in the Democratic Party and I believe that I\u2019m actually one of them. So…<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, then can you tell me what conservative in the Republican Party is appealing to you to get you to join us?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right. Well, I think it really is Obama (giggles) oddly enough. I think he has brought out all of the things that conservatives had been talking about that I thought were wrong, and I think they\u2019re right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait, I want to make sure I heard you right. You say you\u2019re a conservative Democrat?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, I realized that I\u2019m just a conservative. Not a Democrat, not a Republican. I\u2019m just conservative.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Are you a registered Democrat?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m a registered Democrat.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And it\u2019s Obama that\u2019s drawing you over?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. I think it\u2019s other things like personal experience in life and blah, blah, blah. <\/p>\n

RUSH: I understand. I totally agree with this.<\/p>\n

CALLER: But I think that Obama has made it crystal clear that I have nothing in common with the liberal agenda and the Democratic Party.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s absolutely right. But the problem is, there\u2019s nobody on the Republican side saying, ‘Come on over as a conservative.\u2019 They would love for you to come over as a Democrat. What would be optimum here would be if we had somebody on our side — other than me; I\u2019m talking about an elected official —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — who would appeal to people like you and say, ‘My home is the Republican Party.\u2019<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: So what this election is going to turn on — She\u2019s exactly right. You\u2019re exactly right on the money, Olivia. This election is going to turn on people voting for Obama or against him.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right. But I\u2019m totally ready — I live in Texas but I\u2019m totally ready — to work on the local politics. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: You know, getting in like congressmen and other people that can start changing the agenda, \u2019cause I\u2019m really tired of this crap.<\/line> <\/line>RUSH: Way to go.<\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER: I started reading Barry Goldwater. I started watching Fox News, and reading Weekly Standard, and listening to your show, so… I just wanted to make that point. (giggles)<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m sure that\u2019s what happened first, by the way. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Mmm-hmm.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Listening to my show, I mean.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh yeah!<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Listening to your show was definitely the first thing, and I had heard you like a long time ago — even though everyone had been telling me how horrible and awful and evil you were — but I thought the feminazi thing was, honestly, one of the funniest things I\u2019ve heard in my life. So… (giggling) I\u2019ve been secretly a fan for a longer time than you think, so…<\/p>\n
