CALLER: Hey, Rush, it seems like every move that Trump is going to make concerning illegal immigration is going to end up in the courts, ultimately the Supreme Court. My question to you is very simple — and I could walk through my line of thinking on it with you. But my question to you: Is Chief Justice John Roberts the next Anthony Kennedy?<\/p>\n
RUSH: That is a very, very shrewd question.<\/p>\n
CALLER: I love it.<\/p>\n
RUSH: I think very possibly. I think very likely. I think… In fact, I\u2019ll go one step further. I think Justice Roberts has always been the next Anthony Kennedy, even after he was confirmed.<\/p>\n
CALLER: I agree.<\/p>\n
RUSH: And now you also have to keep an eye on Kavanaugh. Kavanaugh and the Planned Parenthood ruling? That wasn\u2019t supposed to happen. It was unexpected. You know, some people say, “Man, it must have really got to him. He had to show this #MeToo crowd that…” Susan Collins was out there doing high fives. (paraphrased) “See? I was right. I told you that he\u2019s a pro-choice guy. You didn\u2019t believe me!” she said. “I told you that Kavanaugh is…” So there\u2019s some people getting queasy about that too. I think you\u2019re right about Justice Roberts. I think now with Justice Kennedy having retired, he will see an opening there to be that precious one. The swing vote gets the love.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes. Yes. You know, Rush, conservative judges, they just don\u2019t seem to even want to cause social upheaval, and the liberal judges live for it. So that\u2019s another thought along that line.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Well, no. I can understand why you think that, but conservatism isn\u2019t social upheaval. You\u2019re thinking social upheaval is needed to because of the upheaval that we\u2019ve had to deal with now in these cultures wars and it\u2019s gonna take upheaval to get rid of some of the garbage that we have had ladled into our society, but conservative judges just… They rule on the law, original intent of the law, and that\u2019s supposed to speak for itself.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Exactly.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Upheaval is not what they see their task being, but that\u2019s exactly it. You\u2019re right. That\u2019s exactly the term that a leftist or a socialist would say that they\u2019re into: Upheaval, chaos, war, battle, whatever you want to call it. So it\u2019s a good point.
