RUSH: Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Rush, I sincerely want to thank you for the impact and the influence that you\u2019ve had on my family, on my children, especially, and how you helped them develop their critical thinking skills and how to look at these issues and how to cogently argue with people that they are dealing with on a daily basis about this. You have tremendous impact.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you, sir, very much. I appreciate that.<\/p>\n

CALLER: When I was listening to you talk to the superdelegates earlier, it occurred to me that they really don\u2019t mind taking the hit in standing up for Obama because, even if he is unelectable, and he does not win the election, as long as they continue to increase their majorities in the House and Senate, they have a willing accomplice and ally in John McCain, and he will further their agenda as much as Obama, except for the war, and that\u2019s the only issue on which they differ.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well — (laughing) — very good, very good, David. Let me maneuver through this one. You\u2019ve just presented me a minefield here.<\/p>\n

CALLER: My pleasure.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, I don\u2019t think that the supers quite look at it that way, but I\u2019m sure that there is a certain degree of sentiment on the Democrat side that they don\u2019t really lose with McCain winning, for this reason. Do you realize the way the polling data looks, the Democrats could have a 70-seat margin in the House —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — and could have anywhere from 8- to 12-seat majority in the Senate. So in that circumstance, let\u2019s say that\u2019s worst-case scenario, and if the worst-case scenario happens, it doesn\u2019t matter who the president is. The Democrats are going to carry — in fact, I would suggest to you that Nancy Pelosi is already throwing down the gauntlet saying that she\u2019s going to run that town no matter who wins the presidency. She\u2019s traveling to Iraq while Bush is in Saudi Arabia. She\u2019s laying down all of her markers. I think one of the reasons the Democrats might actually prefer Obama is because he is inexperienced, he really doesn\u2019t know what he\u2019s doing, and they think that the Democrats in Congress could pretty much roll the guy and get whatever they want out of him if indeed they have to. That\u2019s something that I think is pretty valid.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And in that worst-case scenario, if McCain should win, they can always have a few RINOs like the Snowes and others of this world come alongside them in case —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, but —<\/p>\n

CALLER: — they needed a veto-proof majority.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, but look, they want the White House. You gotta understand something. These people have wanted the White House since 2000, but the Florida aftermath, I don\u2019t think people to this day understand just what a grudge they are holding over that. They want the White House back in the worst way. The supers have a problem. They\u2019ve got two flawed candidates. McCain can beat either of these two. He can beat Obama the easiest. Obama would be the easier of the two to beat. Obviously. And that\u2019s not even arguable. What good is it going to be, with a 70-seat majority in the House? I was at dinner on Monday night, and it was fascinating. We were in a restaurant full of people, and the people left me alone. We were at a table for 12 people, and people left me alone. But when I got up to walk out, man, that\u2019s when everybody diverged, ‘Hey, can you come over here, sign this, take a picture here. Who do you think the vice president is going to be? Who do you think McCain is going to pick?\u2019 And I was talking to this group of people at one table, and I said — just give them some names — I have no clue. I mean the top-tier names change every day, nobody knows, he\u2019s not even started thinking about it seriously yet. And then after that, I said, ‘It isn\u2019t going to matter, none of it\u2019s going to matter.\u2019 <\/p>\n

I said, ‘If the Republicans lose enough, if the Democrats have their 70-seat majority in the House and an 8- to 12-seat majority in the Senate, McCain could nominate Jesus Christ and the Democrats would turn him down.\u2019 And some group in the corner heard me, some Obama people in the corner said, ‘Jesus Christ is dead.\u2019 I said, ‘No, he\u2019s not. He rose from the dead.\u2019 Shut them up. But did you know, seriously, folks. You have, let\u2019s just say, a seven-seat majority in the Senate, seven seats, Democrat seven-seat majority, here comes time appoint a Supreme Court justice. Take the best one out there, doesn\u2019t have a prayer. If by best we mean a Bork or a Scalia or a Clarence Thomas or John Roberts, doesn\u2019t have a chance. Does not have a prayer, because the Democrats can easily find three liberal Republicans — you just mentioned it, the Olympia Snowes and the Susan Collinses and so forth, Chuck Hagel is going to be gone, Linc Chafee is going to be gone, but there\u2019s going to be — (interruption) who? Yeah, Chafee is gone, yeah, Chafee is gone. He was gone when he was there. It was worthless as teats on a boar hog when he was there.
