RUSH: James in the United Arab Emirates. We got a call from the UAE?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi, Rush. Tons of conservative commander-in-chief, strength and honor mega dittos.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you, sir, very much.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hey, I\u2019m a 24-year Air Force veteran, 18-year listener, first-time caller, and I am proud of President Bush, our commander in-chief. He threw a true stun grenade today into the Obama Hussein campaign, and now they\u2019re running around trying to defend him. That\u2019s my first point. Good on the president. My second point is, let\u2019s start winning the Republican campaign today. I nominate you to run the campaign. You\u2019re the best thing we got out there to run a conservative campaign. I was looking for McCain to talk about what our platform is, to talk about lower taxes, smaller government, life, liberty, freedom and the free market. But I really didn\u2019t hear it. It was ethereal. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, we didn\u2019t play all the sound bites, but in the portion of the speech where he went forward and looked backward 13 years and described what the last four years of America would be, the first four years of his first term —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — he didn\u2019t get specific on how, but he said tax rates are lower, going to have a flat tax, one or two pages to fill out your tax form. He was describing this utopian set of circumstances. The problem is he can announce all that, but there was no philosophical underpinning for how it\u2019s going to get done. I mean, this is a typical Hollywood trick. The Hollywood trick is to do a movie four years in advance and show what would have happened if you weren\u2019t around or show what did happen when you were around. But to make those things happen is going to take specific objectives, philosophies, goals and strategeries because the people opposed to that are going to have the most numbers in the House and Senate. So it would be helpful if Senator McCain would tell us how he\u2019s going to get this done rather than run some magic speech creating this utopian picture where it has gotten done.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Exactly. You run a campaign against the enemy, and we\u2019ve got two enemies, foreign and domestic. Our domestic enemy is the liberal social Democrats. I don\u2019t want any social Democrats on our cabinet when we win this. I don\u2019t want a Pelosi or a Reid or a Kucinich there. They should be in jail. They went out and met with foreign enemies during wartime. I want conservatives on there so that we can lead this country the way it needs to be led, through conservatism and back to our basics of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay. Let me propose a hypothetical for you, and you tell me what you think would happen. Because I hear this, too. Rush, you need to have a secret meeting with McCain, nobody needs to know what happened, you need to have a secret meeting with McCain, and you need to tell him these things. Now, James, where in the Emirates are you, can you say?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Abu Dhabi.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re in Abu Dhabi. The emir of Abu Dhabi. Happens to be very pro-American.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes. If you live anywhere, Abu Dhabi is the place to live here in the Middle East.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Not Dubai?<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s too busy there.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay. Sort of like the difference between Vegas and New York.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, exactly.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Without the casinos. Well, that you can see.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Anyway, imagine McCain and I have this meeting, whoever sets it up, nobody knows about it, and I say, ‘Senator McCain, really, if you want to win big and you want to be two terms and if you want to own, here\u2019s what you gotta do, A, B, C, D, and E.\u2019 What do you think the result of the meeting would be?<\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s a good question.<\/p>\n

RUSH: John McCain is 72 years old now. That\u2019s a little hint. <\/p>\n

CALLER: My hope would be that he would listen — <\/p>\n

RUSH: Nope.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — because he says that he\u2019s going to listen to everybody, but —<\/p>\n

RUSH: He\u2019d listen. I don\u2019t think he\u2019d be rude. He\u2019d listen. I think he\u2019s made it very clear that people he\u2019s closest to and listens to most are people on the other side of the aisle.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, but that\u2019s the problem. He needs to get some conservatives on the side like Newt Gingrich and his plan for winning the future. Start with a conservative plan so he\u2019s got a base to excite to get out there and get the vote out for him. If he doesn\u2019t get our base excited, we\u2019re going to lose this, and those two things you talked about earlier are a nightmare.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, but one of them is better for conservatism than the other. The question is which one? <\/p>\n

CALLER: Which is the lesser of two evils, I don\u2019t know.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Sadly, yeah, I know people are getting tired of voting for the lesser of two evils, too, they want to vote for somebody, and that\u2019s something that makes \u2019em mad. There\u2019s nobody to vote for. It\u2019s a crapshoot, you roll the dice, okay, who\u2019s going to harm us the least so we have the less to rebuild? But no, here\u2019s my next question to you. Let\u2019s say that McCain does hold true on his tax cuts, and he tries to do that, and let\u2019s say that he does really try to rein in federal spending, and let\u2019s say that there\u2019s a third thing that people say he might — the judges, the judges, the spending, and the tax cuts. Then he embraces every liberal socialist he can find to advance his global warming agenda, the cap-and-trade agenda, the expansion of government, putting taxes on the use of carbon, does that ameliorate the things you would support him for on the other three?<\/p>\n

CALLER: He just canceled out the other three because this bogusness, you know, about global warming is, you know, he\u2019s lost his mind. I don\u2019t know where he\u2019s thinking. Again, he needs to surround himself with good people. A good leader surrounds himself with good, sound people and values, and that\u2019s what he needs to do. He\u2019s lost his mind on this global warming thing, in my mind.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, see I don\u2019t think he\u2019s lost his mind. He might have left a little bit of himself in that prison cell in Hanoi, and I don\u2019t mean that in a critical way. <\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s a little harsh, I mean, I respect the senator. He\u2019s a great American and an American hero, but I just think he\u2019s dead wrong on the global warming issue.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s obvious, isn\u2019t it? But it\u2019s obvious to us; it\u2019s not obvious to him what\u2019s going on.<\/p>\n

CALLER: How do you change his mind?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Nobody\u2019s going to change his mind on that, James. I mean, he\u2019s out there now. He went to Oregon. He went to the belly of the environmental beast. He stood next to a Democrat governor. There\u2019s no talking him out of that. The only hope is he\u2019s lying to everybody and isn\u2019t going to do diddly-squat about it once he gets elected president. He\u2019s just saying this stuff to line up his independent and Democrat votes here. You hate to have to count on that kind of stuff, too. At any rate, James, I appreciate the call.
