CALLER: Hi, Rush. I disagree with you about the mainstream media. I really don\u2019t think they want to get rid of Donald Trump. I don\u2019t think that\u2019s their objective, because they need him for their ratings. He\u2019s the best thing that\u2019s ever happened to CNN, Jim Acosta, PMSNBC. And they would really tank if he were to leave or not get reelected in 2020.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Well, now, when you say not get reelected, let me address this. I understand what you\u2019re saying. In fact, Jeff Zucker, who is the president and lead commandant at CNN, lead comrade, has said that without Trump our ratings bite. He\u2019s admitted it.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m gonna tell you something. That may be Zucker, but do not doubt me, the effort to overturn the 2016 election results is real, it is real today, it has been real the past two years, and the rank-and-file in the Drive-By Media from the Acostas to any of the other reporters, are looking at this as a challenge to their power and their ability. They want to get rid of Trump before the 2020 election.<\/p>\n
Do you think the Democrats are not serious about impeaching Trump and packing him and sending him away? And the media\u2019s right in there with \u2019em. I know your theory about Trump is too good for the ratings and so forth, but the despise him! It\u2019s not just generational. This is a class thing. They are, in their minds, members of the Washington political class elite, and Trump is an interloper and an intruder, and he\u2019s not welcome.<\/p>\n
They cannot disguise the hate they have for him. They\u2019re benefiting from him in a whole lot of different ways in terms of ratings and this, that, and the other thing. And I think as time has gone on, they\u2019ve grown more accustomed to the fact that he\u2019s there and thus have tailored the way they deal with him on a daily basis.<\/p>\n

But do not doubt for a moment that from the top of the Democrat Party on down to the media — I should say from the top of the media on down to the Democrat Party — the objective is to nullify the 2016 election results by way of either paralyzing Trump or getting rid of him.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s personal. It is deeply, deeply personal. It is visceral, and it is full-fledged, undisguised, raw, poisonous hatred that they harbor for the guy. They look at it as a contest between themselves and him as to who actually is the more powerful. And if they could force Trump out of office or if they could cause something terribly humiliating that would just embarrass Trump and make it impossible for him to appear in public, they would be the happiest they have been since they got rid of Richard Nixon.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hey, I\u2019ve postulated for a while this whole impeachment thing.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n
CALLER: I hadn\u2019t heard anybody mention this. I think it\u2019s simply tit-for-tat. “You did one of ours, and we\u2019re, by God, gonna do one of yours,” end of story.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, I don\u2019t think there\u2019s any question that that\u2019s a factor. I think you are exactly right. I think these people have been chomping at the bit, and don\u2019t forget… (chuckling) Don\u2019t forget Merrick Garland. They are still seething over Merrick Garland, Obama\u2019s last Supreme Court nominee, not being voted on or even given a hearing. They\u2019re still bringing that up. In fact, I heard… Somebody thinks… Oh, somebody a couple days ago told me that they think Trump could make it be a great move if the next opening he nominated Merrick Garland.<\/p>\n
Because that might convince some leftist voters out there that Trump\u2019s not that bad a guy. I said, “No, it doesn\u2019t work that way!” “But he voted with Kavanaugh like 90% of the time.” Doesn\u2019t work that way! Obama appointee? Trump might as well shoot himself in the foot if he does that! But getting for the Clinton impeachment? Make no bones about it. This getting Trump thrown out of office. They can\u2019t stand that Gore didn\u2019t win in 2000.<\/p>\n
