RUSH: Now, this French News Agency story from last Saturday: ‘McCain Calls for Cooperation Among Democrats, Republicans.\u2019 Did you see this, Snerdley? By the way, you had your hand up in there a moment ago. What was the question? Hm-hm. Hm-hm. Hm-hm. No, I don\u2019t think Democrats are just now discovering the Clintons. They\u2019ve known who the Clintons are for a long time. They\u2019ve just been afraid of them. When the Clintons were doing their dirty tricks against us it was all fine, but now the dirty tricks are being turned against the Democrats. I\u2019m just telling you, go read your ambling left-wing blog, go read your average kook fringe left-wing blog. There\u2019s sheer hatred for the Clintons out there, all over, other than at Media Matters, which is a Hillary Clinton front group. ‘Republican White House hopeful John McCain promised on Saturday to cooperate with his Democratic rivals if he is elected president, despite deep divisions between the two parties. ‘Despite the increasing harshness of our debates, and the lack of respect it often occasions for each side\u2019s good will, I still believe we can and must come together on issues that cannot be addressed without our cooperation,\u2019 McCain said in a speech in Prescott, Arizona, the last stop on his biographical tour over the past week.\u2019 Prescott, Arizona, is famous for Goldwaters and Udalls doing things there in their careers. <\/p>\n

He said, ‘Let us argue with each other then. By all means, let us argue. Our differences are not petty, they often involve cherished beliefs, and represent our best judgment about what is right for our country and humanity. But let us remember, we are not enemies.\u2019 Yes, Senator McCain, they are our enemies. The left is the enemy of freedom and liberty in this country and they don\u2019t need to be worked with. They need to be defeated. It\u2019s just that simple. Along the same lines, the Washington Post, Zachary Goldfarb with the story: ‘Sen. John McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee for president, said Sunday that the leader for the Democratic nomination, Sen. Barack Obama, would be ‘absolutely\u2019 qualified to be president, should the voters elect him. But, he said, ‘I believe that my talent and my background and my experience, which has led to my judgment, … qualifies me more.” Ladies and gentlemen, under no honest analysis is Barack Obama qualified to be president of the United States, nor is Hillary Clinton. Neither of the two Democrats are qualified to be president of the United States. I don\u2019t care how you want to define qualifications. In Mrs. Clinton\u2019s case, ‘Well, she was the first lady for eight years, she\u2019s traveled, all the stuff she tried, she landed under snipper fire in Bosnia.\u2019 Everything she\u2019s put her hands on has bombed out royally. Everything she says she wants to do will destroy the United States economy and grow the government, and the same thing with Obama. <\/p>\n

I watched his interview with Maria Bartiromo on CNBC where he\u2019s talking about the capital gains tax, and I\u2019m telling you, he doesn\u2019t know what it is, his eyes were glazing over. She said, ‘But Senator Obama, a hundred million Americans own stocks. If you raise the capital gains rate –‘ ‘Well, not raise on everybody, we\u2019ll only raise it on the wealthy.\u2019 He has no clue. Neither of these people are qualified. Now, I know what Senator McCain\u2019s trying to do here. He\u2019s trying to run the epitome of an honorable campaign without any partisanship or any of that. He\u2019s trying to avoid the dirt, and so I understand exactly what he\u2019s trying to do. But, folks, I\u2019m going to tell you, if we don\u2019t contrast ourselves with these people on the Democrat side, if we say, they\u2019re good people and they\u2019re qualified, and in a political election, you have to contrast yourself with your opponent. In most contests, the opponent\u2019s the enemy, for the time of the contest. When the contest is over, you shake hands, be good sports, move on down the highway. It appears that that\u2019s not going to be the mind-set here of the Republican campaign. So if Obama\u2019s absolutely qualified to be president, then what the hell is there reason to vote against him. If he\u2019s qualified to be president, then why run against him? If our side is going to say he\u2019s qualified, then how can we criticize him? We\u2019re so screwed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
